Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Coheed and Cambria” the album “IV”

I exercised to “Big Sugar” the album “Heated”

Monday was supposed to be my first appointment with a psychiatrist.  I wrote down the date & time while on the phone, June 10th at 11:20 am.  Kim missed half a day off work for it (if she’s not at work, she doesn’t get paid).  We got up around 7:30 am.  Kim hit the shower, while I did ¼ of my exercises.  Dropped off Brewster at Kim’s sister’s place (he has anxiety issues in a bad way.  We’ve had a noise complaint once shortly after we moved here).

Drop off Brewster & head off to my appointment.  We go in up to the front desk.  Kim says “Appointment for Chris_______”.  The lady checks her computer and asks “Christopher?” “Yes” replies Kim.  “He doesn’t have an appointment here until this date with that doctor”. What a waste of Kim’s morning.  Either I screwed up the date (which we both think is highly unlikely) or they messed something up.  Either way it’s money from Kim’s paycheck we can’t get back & the future date is going to be a gong show of a day for us, already too much on the go.  If only I could drive?  Unfortunately my iPatch, slow reflexes, & legs that don’t fully work, prevent me from doing so.  I keep asking, & I get the same response “Nah, not this time” Hahahahaha!

Nobody said I should see a professional about my frustration or knee jerk reactions.  I started to notice that people around me were just waiting to see when the time bomb would go off.  Well after 2 explosions, 8 or 9 years apart.  That’s far too many for me.  So later on I’ll be seeing someone this month.

My cousin wanted to exercise with me on Monday.  I spent the rest of my day at my parents’ place.  So I counted out loud for us.  I think I broke here, even though she’s in her early 30s.  “OK, we’ll start with 150 crunches.”  We get to 50 & she needs to take a short rest.  I told her “If anything starts to hurt, just stop”.  I do 150 crunches with no break.  I’d do more but I need to be careful regarding my back.  We finished the crunches & moved on to leg lifts.  I do 200 in a half crunch with my legs down, then alternate between the 2 legs up & down. I do 100 at a time & take a break in between sets.  I think she kept up with me or we did 4 sets of 50?  Then she asks me “Are we done?”  I replied “Nope, 100 back flexes to go.  I rest after 50 for a bit & then do another 50”, she kept up with me.  She looks at me & says “You do this 3 days a week after 150 squats?”  “Yes I do.  Then Tuesdays & Thursdays are stretching, yoga, & weights for about an hour to an hour & a half.”  I’m guessing she thinks I’m a little insane.

In other news, our air conditioner is now working!  As of Thursday last week the plumber needed to order a valve from Texas to fix it, so it was going to take roughly 8 weeks to have it installed here.  They found one here!  They put it in on Monday, & “so far so good”.  The building manager said we should keep the portable air conditioner for a week in case our air conditioner breaks down.  When Kim & I got home Monday night it was like a meat locker in here +18 Celcius.  We went to bed about an hour later & it was at +20.  It got a bit warmer since we changed the thermostat to +22.

If all of this is true & you use iTunes, don’t expect a single to come along with a preorder date.  The members of “Tool” prefer fans to listen to the entire album.  That is the reason for previous releases not being sold on iTunes or streaming sites until now.

I read recently that streaming music sites are not what they used to be as far as popularity goes.  I have one thought as to why this is happening.  I think a streaming site would make the music from it very disposable?  I could be way off base here, but that’s my guess.  I was buying CDs still in 2012 when I finished my physiotherapy.  1 CD a month.  Then I started to use iTunes & I still do $10 for a complete album, SWEET!  Kim put me on a monthly allowance to iTunes of $50 a month.  Now that I know what I want to purchase, I’ve scaled it down to $20 a month.  Saving money & listening more intently to the album in question.

The beauty & downfall of Napster was that you owned the music & didn’t pay anything for it.  With a streaming music site you pay a monthly fee to borrow the music.  You don’t own it & it can be taken away by the site at any moment & that would be legal.

I’ve got 2 albums on preorder.  Sum 41 in late July & The Agonist in September.  Tool members are saying August 30th, I’ll believe Tool when I have it or an unlikely preorder.

Are you all sick of hearing “Let it go” yet?  I don’t if there will be another song your kids will sing for a long time, but “Frozen 2” is coming.

If any of it sounds like “post-OK Computer” I’m out.  I love “The Bends” & “OK Computer”, “Pablo Honey” was a decent first release.  After those 3 albums, Radiohead lost me.

ALTER BRIDGE

I don’t know what category these guys fit into?  The singer, Myles Kennedy, has the best voice I have ever heard.  He sings & never really had the desire to learn how to do death metal vocals.  The other 3 members are from the original line-up of “Creed”, drummer, bassist, & lead guitar.  Myles Kennedy didn’t tell them he played guitar until he was caught playing his guitar in his room on the first tour.  Even the lead guitarist, Mark Tremonti, says that Myles is better than him on guitar technically.

Don’t let the “Creed” connection worry you.  It’s like comparing apples to oranges.  Two completely different bands.

I fell asleep to “Matthew Good Band” the album “Beautiful Midnight”

I exercised to “Lamb of God” the album “Sturm Und Drang”

Sunday night I really didn’t sleep well.  I was awake from 4:00 am on.  I did half of the total numbers of every exercise.  Tried to nap but Brewster wanted to play instead.

Weekly exercise total; 1080 pushups, 900 leg lifts, 450 crunches, 450 squats, 540 tricep pushups, & 180 back flexes.

What do I think about this whole cancer situation now?  I’m SO glad it was me.  I wouldn’t want to watch anyone close to me, friend, extended family, or close family, go through any of this stuff!  I’ve made my peace with this scenario now.

Do I like where I am right now?  Well yes & no.  I’m alive which is AWESOME!!!  However, I don’t want to continue exercising as much every day for the rest of my life.  I also don’t want to be a burden to those I meet or see in person.

Nobody saw this coming!  You don’t sit around & think to yourself “Ah, this person will get life changing cancer in the future!”  Nobody thinks that about any one in their life.

The weird thing is, this is my normal right now.  I wake up to pee in the middle of the night & without thinking about it, I get into my wheelchair.  Same thing in the morning I get into my wheelchair, put on my exercise clothes, check Brewster’s food & water, eat breakfast & get right to my exercise.

It may not be normal for anyone else, but it’s normal for me.  I wish I could do something spectacular for Kim.  She’s been a solid rock for me, even before I was sick.  She has never disappointed me in any way.  She’s fantastic & just does something nice out of the blue to cheer me up if I’m stuck in a rut or having a bad day.  I do what I can for her but it never seems like enough?

TRAVELLING WILBURYS    1988

5 legendary singer/songwriters in the right place at the right time.  Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, George Harrison, & Jeff Lynne.  4 of them happened to be at Jeff Lynne’s studio & figured they should record something.  They recorded 2 albums, nobody really knows about the 2nd album.  Fair enough, the 1st album makes you not want to think about the 1st one.  I’ve listened to the 2nd album twice I think?  Here are a few reasons why the first one is so good….

‘Headstones’ a Canadian rock/punk band covered “Tweeter & the Monkey Man”

Great but Big Sugar isn’t on the list.  Even standing behind the P. A. speakers they’re LOUD!

http://loudwire.com/study-ranks-loudest-bands-ever/

Today I got 2 albums ‘Tremonti’ “A Dying Machine” and ‘Dead Sara’ their 6 song EP

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you!

WHY DO I WORK OUT SO MUCH?

I fell asleep to “The Watchmen” first the album “Brand New Day”

Then the album “Fast Forward & Rewind” it’s a double album “Fast Forward” is new music “Rewind” is a greatest hits album that I never listen to since I can listen to every album front to back.

Woke up to pee in the middle of the night crawled back into bed & listened to their album “Silent Radar” This album is one of my favourite albums of all time right up there with Foo Fighters “The Colour & The Shape”

I tried to exercised to “Barenaked Ladies” but there’s a storm here. It kept kicking me out of iTunes after 2 songs, I tried 5 times & gave up. I exercised in silence for the most part.

This is for anyone & everyone who might find this interesting! Please help me out if you don’t mind? I’ve been sharing this publically on my page, I don’t think it’s helping? Please do what you can to spread the word?

Having survived stage 4 brain cancer, I have to exercise if I’m not OK with the status quot When I do my exercise total at the end of the week that’s 5 days of exercising & I break down what amount of which exercises I’ve done each day. Getting back into my regular routine is much more difficult than I expected to be, but it’s getting very close & after a few weeks of it, I’ll likely add another exercise to it or increase the amount of one of the exercises. For that reason alone I have to exercise & hopefully get out of this wheelchair.

I don’t look at being in a wheelchair as a disability, I look to the pros of being in a wheelchair & having an eye patch. I get rock star parking, I always have a designated driver, & when I go out I get treated very well. Some stranger is always holding a door open for me & if someone makes a reservation at a restaurant & mentions a wheelchair seat, the place usually has a table available.

If I don’t exercise, it feels like a waste of a day. So I exercise a TON Monday-Friday. Those two weeks off with my back being screwed up, that was a waste of time for me. I don’t like sitting around & doing nothing all of the time! Weekends are fine but during the week people go to work so I might as well also work. What else do I have to do? Stuff around the house, take care of Brewster & exercise. Once I’ve exercised & finished a blog post I consider my day done & get to whatever else I can.

Life in a wheelchair could be MUCH worse. It’s not what Kim & I signed up for but we make it work. Once I’m comfortable & figure out how to do things easily at a public venue, I’m OK.

I fall on occasion & I’ve sort of figured out how to fall without really hurting myself. I know how to get back up & approach things differently so I don’t make the same mistake again. Sometimes it takes multiple efforts & failing at it, so I do most things different than others do, no big deal.

I also exercise to lose some weight. I went into the hospital with a 38” waist, now 38” are too small & 40” is too big? If you know of anyone that makes dress pants with a 39 15/32 “ waist, send them my way please?

Remember the horror movie “The Ring” with the video people watched then got a phone call saying they’ll die in the next 7days? There was a fly on the screen when they watched the video that turned out to be real. We have a fly in our house at the moment. It landed on the TV while I was here alone. I peed a bit & begged for the phone not to ring. It didn’t, I’m here, I’m alive.

Sorry if this is late? Had to make a juice, & fix some iTunes files where you could buy a USB stick of the show after it was done. A Barenaked Ladies show here from 2007.

“If I had my way” the week & weekend would be split more evenly. 4 days of work & a 3 day weekend every weekend. I’d shoot for a 4 day weekend but that wouldn’t happen. “I’d make Friday part of the weekend” & make chocolate a high protein, no fat, no sugar food! I forgot too take my pills Saturday night aka I really didn’t sleep well. I woke up at 4:40 am to go to the washroom, fell back asleep pretty quick. I woke up, thinking I had slept for quite a while (I have no clock on my side of the bed), I got up and I always put my eye patch, glasses & watch on last. My watch said 6:30 am? I guess I didn’t sleep much at all? I don’t take sleeping pills anymore, I haven’t for quite a few years. I don’t know what pill makes me sleep out of the few I take? Those memory pills are working great!!!! I think they might be a placebo?

Making my juice or whatever you want to call it vegetables & fruit blended together. I turned on “Headstones” their 1st 4 albums on shuffle.

Songs/Videos I like. “Big Sugar” excessively loud live! I never where earplugs but, I did to see them. Kim & I were behind the P.A. speakers at the Distrikt to see them, both wearing earplugs on the 2nd level. Our ears were still ringing. This was the tour for The Trews first album, they were opening for Big Sugar.

Ever had Oreo pancakes?  I highly recommend them!!!  3 pancakes the size of a dinner plate, filled with mini Oreo cookies, on a plate covered in chocolate syrup, topped off with 2 mini Oreos & English cream drizzled on it.  If we go out for a meal, which doesn’t happen much, I make it count!!!! At home I live on fruit, vegetables, & chicken mostly!
