Everything is going really well, just a minor hiccup this week.  I like to get up early & get things done typically.  Tuesday my body refused to get out of bed until 10:00 am?  I got up & did my exercises ASAP, ended up being a shorter day than usual but still a beneficial day.  I managed to get more repetitions in during my exercise.

Wednesday was worse I slept/stayed in bed until 11:20 am.  I only got up because I had to pee.  I decided to skip my morning exercises & just go walking with my walker when Kim got home.  I had to do something?  I was too tired to even pick up a guitar for a productive practice.

Not sure what was going on.  I go to bed between 10:00 – 10:30 pm every night as usual.  Wednesday seemed REALLY short.  Did my walking when Kim got home & near the end of 268.5 meters of walking I got hot & tired.  A couple of minor hiccups near the end as I got tired, but I guess that’s to be expected.  Overall it wasn’t bad.  It finally felt somewhat normal to walk.  I didn’t have to think about certain aspects of walking, my body was doing a lot of things naturally.  I was pretty happy with that!

Get up Thursday morning at 8:00 am & everything feels right again!  Breakfast, exercise, coffee and a snack, shower, lunch, etc & all is in order.

Once this is posted, my long weekend starts!  3 day weekend in parts of Canada.  Monday is “Family Day” & there is some family coming to town.  Should be a great weekend!

 

“Lamb of God’s” “Laid to Rest” was my favourite metal song & favourite metal band but “Trivium” & their song “Heart from Your Hate” are really making a run.  The last “In Flames” album from the Swedish metal group was FANTASTIC too!  Those have been my 3 favourite metal bands since I heard them in 2005-2006.  Trivium & Lamb of God are easily in my top 10 bands overall.  Yes, Metallica, Pantera, & Megadeth are among my favourite metal groups.  Foo Fighters & Big Wreck always share the absolute gold standard for me musically, out of any bands!

Yep, back to exercises this week.  I actually lowered 3 totals to make sure I’m getting everything proper & the results I would like.

I had a temporary Physiotherapist, an older lady who was very nice.  She asked me if I was a body builder, I just laughed & replied “Hahahahaha, far from!”

 

2 things & walking isn’t one of them.  I do miss playing baseball but I quit after the season in 1997.  My arm was ready to fall off, playing 3rd base on 2 teams.  I got a call one night to play with the A level team, I was on the B level team.  I declined since I was a useless hitter & I had a team practice that night.  Company soft ball was fun though.

I don’t miss playing guitar & singing, sort of.  I don’t miss the 2:00 am nights on the weekends when I load up my car full with my amplifier & guitars, & then return home & unload it all in the wee hours of the morning.  If I was famous enough to have a roadie do the heavy lifting, I might feel differently about that.

I do miss sitting at home, singing & playing my acoustic guitar just for fun.  Kim even mentioned once that she missed me doing that around the house.

I know my Grandfather, on my mother’s side of the family, couldn’t understand why my brother & I were playing this type of music or what we got from making our music.  We didn’t play metal, but we listened to some of it.  I can’t do any type of metal scream, before cancer or now.  I never had a “desire” to do so.  There were so many other people that trained to do those type of vocals.  We played heavy rock music, but listened to more metal stuff.

 

Affleck is out as Batman/Bruce Wayne.  Now the rumours start.

Ideally I’d love to see Christian Bale reprise the role!  John Hamm would be a graceful transition from Ben Affleck.

No, I didn’t watch The Oscars.  I own “Black Panther” & “Bohemian Rhapsody” I just want to see “Blackkklans Man”.  “Green Book” won for best movie.  Never paid any attention to it.  People will say to me “Oh, you need to see it!”  What, will I die if I don’t see it?  That’s the only time I ‘need’ to see any movie.

This was funny in the 1990s when David Letterman caught wind of the gas station owner, Dick Assman, in Regina.  Now SGI won’t approve a novelty license plate that says ASSMAN on it?  Did everybody lose their sense of humour?  Would this be allowed in the USA?  The current President says things that are questionable at best.

 

TOOL (NEW ALBUM THIS SUMMER, MAYBE?)

4 guys based in L.A.  The drummer, Danny Carey, is a part of the Mensa organization.  Guitarist, Adam Jones, worked as a special effects worker for film & TV, he now does Tool’s album art & videos.  All I know about the bassist, Justin Chancellor, is that he is their 2nd bassist & I believe he’s English.  Singer, Maynard James Keenan, owns 3 or 4 dojos, has a black belt in a martial art, owns & operates a vineyard in Arizona, & sings for Tool, A Perfect Circle, & Puscifer.

They seem to enjoy teasing fans with false information about any release they may have coming.  They aren’t metal, rock or anything else.  I’d just call them a progressive music act.  The rhythms are tribal almost, REALLY good

Tool is not a band that you’d just tap your foot to.  Very minimal 4/4 time rhythm.  Maynard doesn’t scream, he will shout on key, & he is a very good singer, not showy but does what is needed for the song.  He prefers to think of his voice as another instrument in the band.

In their live concert set up, the drums & Maynard are in the back while the guitarist & bassist are near the front but on the sides of the stage.  The majority of their songs titles & lyrics are meant to be double – entendre.  Such as songs called “Prison Sex”, “Stinkfist”, “Aenima”, etc.  This is meant to provoke the listeners mind.

They’re quite private & very smart in not telling their fan base when an album will be released or anything more than fans need to know at the moment.  Their catalogue started with an EP & carries on from there….

I fell asleep to “Tool” the album “Lateralus”

Well I’m still around & this year is exactly the same date & day I was diagnosed with brain cancer 11 years ago.  Tuesday, February 5th 2019 marks 11 years since I was diagnosed, unconscious & full of whatever could help me survive.  I don’t remember anything after Kim came in the back of the ambulance & I said “Everything will be OK sweetie”.  That was a bold prediction on my part!  What did Kim tell my parents?  “He’s not going to die.”

“So far, so good” no flu the week before, no debilitating headache in the back/base of my skull either (knock on wood).  I’m here & I’m not done yet!

 

As the comments on the www.loudwire.com Facebook page said.  “3 months = 4 years” & “Get your CD players ready”.  Hahahahaha, it’s funny because it’s true!

So, “Tool” is sick of their fans feeling entitled to a new album after the most recent release in 2006.  As a fan & I’m speaking for most of us, we can stop that, when you stop feeding fans false information regarding a release date.

They like to keep it really at shows by not doing an encore, I like that.  If they like to keep it real at live shows, how about keeping it real when it comes to a release date?  I urge “Tool” fans to take this April release date with a grain of salt!  I’ll beLIEve it when it happens!  We were told this album would be released in 2016, 2017, 2018, & now 2019.  With that track record, I don’t trust ANY release date they give.  This is also the last album required on their contract I believe.  I’m confident that this will be their final release, if I’m right.

This album could be anywhere on a scale of 1 – 10.  It’s been hyped up by so many fans waiting for it.  Don’t be alarmed if it doesn’t live up to your standards!

“Rage Against the Machine” had disbanded, unfortunately.  They were the only rap/rock group I really liked & still miss.  “Soundgarden” had broken up in 1997.  “Audioslave” was Chris Cornell from “Soundgarden” on vocals with the bass player, drummer, & guitarist from “Rage Against the Machine”.  I was in SIAST when I heard their first single on the radio at school.  3 guys in our SIAST class at the time.  I heard it & got the other 2 to come hear it.  I’m pretty sure all 3 of us were eager to hear it.  “Audioslave” recorded 3 albums, which I thought were really good at the time.  They still are but that was well over 15 years ago.  I still like them, there’s just not much excitement now when I listen to them.  I think I heard they had some stuff recorded with the late Chris Cornell that wasn’t released?

“Soundgarden” from the ‘90s grunge scene in Seattle.  They actually started in 1998.  This is from their 4th of 6 studio albums.  This song was on the album that everyone raves about.

Wednesday turned out to be quite lazy, after a fast & early morning.  The handle on the back of my wheelchair got fixed.  The guy had to take my chair to the shop though.  He said he’d be back within an hour.  Got my chair back a bit under 2 hours later.  I already had 2 liters of water, had to crawl to the washroom a couple of times.  All was fine but I bruised my big toe.  It was throbbing quite a bit Wednesday night.

That has temporarily slowed me down a bit.  No squats, pushups, or walking. Since Wednesday’s exercise was complete.  I really don’t like to cut back on anything, it’s frustrating.  I’d show you but I have no phone/camera & it’s really ugly!  I wanted to do a TON more walking with my walker this year, like 3 times a week at minimum.  We’ve only been walking 3 times so far this year.

In other news, Kim picked up my new glasses on her way home Wednesday.  I am now a slightly attractive, near sighted pirate.  All I’m missing is a peg leg & a hook.

Throughout all of this cancer garbage, I lost sight of what I was really easy for me before.  Remain humble, really appreciate all of the great people who care about me.

Well, I guess that’s one decade cancer free.  So I’m “…done, done.  On to the next one…..”

 

I always say I want to see any movie in the theater & it never happens!  I usually just buy the blu-ray.  Anyways, here’s the upcoming Spider-man movie.

I would have liked to see “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Venom”, “Aquaman”, “Avengers Infinity War”, “Ant-man & the Wasp”, & many more in the theater.  I’ll just buy them when they’re available.  I’ll watch a movie multiple times.  Example; Deadpool.  I’ve watched that movie a minimum of 15 times, & I’m not exaggerating at all.  Instant classic for me!  Out of that list I’m just missing “Bohemian Rhapsody” & “Aquaman”.  Could be much worse.

I hear that he used to work as an Elvis impersonator & that’s how he started his musical career.  Don’t quote me on that, that’s hearsay news.  He was born October 8th, 1985, in Honolulu, & named Pete Gene Hernandez (thank you Google!).  He has released 3 albums, a single, & the song “Uptown Funk” on an album done by Mark Ronson.  He’s made a career of being very transparent as to what his influences are in his radio hits.  The Police, James Brown, Michael Jackson, etc.

400 leg lifts, 160 pushups, planking, yoga, 200 crunches & 80 back flexes this past week.

That’s 100 leg lifts, 40 pushups, 20 back flexes, planking, 100 crunches & yoga 5 days a week.  First thing I do when I leave the bedroom, then breakfast & a shower.

I just added the crunches on Thursday, 100 crunches a day.  The crunches had nothing to do with my back!  I know what caused it, I’ve had back issues since high school.  My wheelchair seat was over inflated & the squats always hurt my back a bit.  So I’m going to continue doing 100 crunches a day.  I could also just twist in my seat to borrow a pen & my back would go out?  That’s what happened in grade 10?

Kim had Wednesday off, so I took it off too.  I got in the shower while she went out to get coffees & cinnamon buns.  We sat on the balcony before it got too warm.  I can’t get out there in my wheelchair.  Kim has to help me, or I can crawl out if needed.  Came inside watched a bit of TV.  Kim went for a roller blade.  She showered, we watched a little more TV, and then we went to see “Wonder Woman” in the comfy recliners at the Southland Mall.  I don’t know where it came from but we had a movie pass that we used today!

I spent 1 day a week, for almost exactly a year being in the pool during my physiotherapy.  I can’t swim anymore.  I was lowered into the pool by what’s called a “Hoyer” lift.  It’s basically a crane for people who can’t walk.  Once I was in the pool there’s a rail all the way around the pool for me to hold on to.  I was able to walk & do some different physio exercises, all while holding on to the rail.  The pool is only 5 feet deep & it’s heated.  It’s quite a bit like a warm bath.  I would walk to each side of the pool holding the railing.  I’d float on my back with weights on my feet & I was to kick my feet during that time.  One leg is stronger than the other, I’d kick my feet & go in circles.  My therapist had me try a different walker in the pool as well, that didn’t work out to well.

Cool!  Another great tune from the new “Royal Blood” album.  This & Big Wreck were/are my most anticipated album of 2017, until I found out Foo Fighters’ may have a release this year.  Royal Blood is not a metal band, if you’re worried about that.  The singer plays a distorted electric bass & the other member of the group plays drums.  That’s all, just the 2 of them!

Sunday February 3rd, 2008 was the day I was shoveling snow in our backyard.  I sat down on our steps while I experienced the most painful headache of my life.  It didn’t last long & it was at the base of my skull in the back.  Kim saw me through the kitchen window & told me to come inside.  My headache probably lasted 3 minutes & then I was fine.  I slept fine & went to work on Monday, after a week off with a bad stomach flu.

I was fine on Monday the entire day.  I didn’t even think anything of my painful/short headache.

Tuesday, February 5th 2008, again all was fine.  Kim & I were carpooling to work.  We had bought a used Pontiac Grand Am, which looked new.  We bought it roughly a year prior.  It was more used as a replacement for my Ford Tempo, which had seen better days!  I dropped of Kim & went to work.  I think it was still in the morning.  I was about to put on the printing plates for a job.  Two of my co-workers came over & told me I looked very pale.  I felt fine & carried on as usual.  Then it all happened.

I sat down on the cat-walk of my press, then I laid down on it, none of this is normal.  I called for my co-worker and said “Call 911”.  I was almost out.  The paramedics came ASAP.  Kim had been called at the same time.  She went to leave & realized I had the car.  Her boss drove her over.  I was put on a stretcher & was taken into the ambulance.  The last thing I remember was Kim getting into the ambulance & me saying “It’ll be alright sweetie”.  Apparently I was alert & answering many questions.  I don’t remember a thing though.  I was in a coma for 4 or 5 weeks with a 5-15% chance of coming out of a coma.  I slept for a year only waking up for painkillers.  On December 31st 2008 I was declared cancer free.  I really did nothing, my body took over while I pretty much slept for a year & I’m sure there was a good chunk of good luck involved.

I was discharged from my therapies at the Wascana Rehabilitation Center on Thursday July 26th 2012!  I’m told the doctors expected the cancer too comeback at the 5 year mark, that never happened luckily!

Some people say I should celebrate the days in February.  I think those are days to forget.  I’d rather celebrate July 26th & every New Year.  I don’t know if that’s right, the days in February don’t seem as though they need to be remembered?

I fell asleep to “Halestorm” their 3 Eps of cover songs 6 songs on each EP.

Don’t feel as though you have to click on every link.

Being at home while doing nothing but stretching, being limited as to what you can do with a pinched nerve is OK for about a few days or a week, but 2 months is WAY too long.  I’m bored though, I would like to do something productive & when I try to do something I go “Rrrrrrrrrright, that’s why I can’t do this!”  I don’t remember what it was like out of my rehabilitation center, but I don’t think it was this awkward?  I’ve been sitting around doing just about nothing for around 2 months other than very light exercise & stretching.  We’ve got my referral to a physio therapist, were just waiting for them to call when they have an opening.  I’m OK until I stand, then after about 5 seconds of standing everything tightens up.  My foot starts to tingle, the back of my knee gets sore, my calf gets very sore, & my butt cheek gets incredibly sore.

The good thing that has happened is that I’m pretty sure I survived the holidays without packing on the pounds!  More & more of my shirts are fitting me!

It’s Jonathan Davis’ 48th birthday today.  The singer from Korn.  I can’t tell you much about Korn I was never really into them.  They were HUGE in the late ‘90s & early 2000s though.

I think I got very close to the long note at the once out of the 8 or 9 times we rehearsed it & played once?

 

I listened to the “Dystopia” album by “Megadeth” that was released in January of 2016.  I liked it for a while then I did like it & this time around, I’d say it’s not too bad.
