HOLIDAY SEASON & YET MORE SHOOTINGS?

I guess the victims didn’t have their guns with them to “protect” themselves? I guess it could be a terrorist attack? So they say on the news at this point? Not every American loves having a firearm with them & not every Muslim is an extremist/terrorist.

Doctors appointment this morning at the cancer clinic. All is well. Told me to take baby Aspirin & it might help to get rid of the minor side effects from the medications I’m on, maybe it’ll help with my dry mouth & I might not drink 2 liters of water a day. She also showed me my CT scan & explained it, all is well she said. There’s some water in my noggin but that’s OK. She also extended my time for the next appointment to June of 2017, instead of 1 appointment a year, it’s now every year & a half! Fewer needles being poked in me!

Today’s workout was brought to you by “The Beatles” all albums on shuffle.

Scott Weiland (former singer for Stone Temple Pilots & Velvet Revolver, was with Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts at the time he passed) Sad to see someone die but I don’t think his death was a shock? He had been dealing with drugs & alcohol for many years, constantly in & out of rehab. All of this was in the public eye. Velvet Revolver even made a music video involving his issues, while he was a member of the group.

On Stone Temple Pilots’ facebook page

Dear Scott,

Let us start by saying thank you for sharing your life with us.

Together we crafted a legacy of music that has given so many people happiness and great memories.

The memories are many, and they run deep for us.

We know amidst the good and the bad you struggled, time and time again.

It’s what made you who you were.

You were gifted beyond words, Scott.

Part of that gift was part of your curse.

With deep sorrow for you and your family, we are saddened to see you go.

All of our love and respect.

We will miss you brother,

Robert, Eric, Dean”

Cool story for the holidays. My mother-in-law was likely crying through part of it.

EVERYTHING on facebook is about the passing of Scott Weiland. Stone Temple Pilots became famous as a grunge band I guess releasing the album “Core” in 1992, out of San Diego.

For me, that’s a really good debut album. They released 6 studio albums & a Greatest Hits album with Scott Weiland & a 5 song EP with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park.

Chester is the singer, not the rapper.

HAPPY 30th ANNIVERSARY TO ‘BACK TO THE FUTURE’

I need to watch these movies again. All 3 are beside me on DVD, maybe this weekend if the Blue Jays lose this afternoon, which I hope they don’t or all of this hype has been for nothing. 1 lose in any of the next 3 games for them & the season is over for them & I.

Today’s workout was brought to you by “Pentatonix” & some “Into Eternity”

The 2 best things about being “Auntie” Kim & “Uncle” Chris, is that we get to teach kids bad habits such as using your sock to clean up a tiny spill of liquid. “Uncle” Chris gets the left over, slobbered on, cold Kraft Dinner/Mac & Cheese!

Yeah, odd/weird what’s with the water? That & the fact that I instantly thought of Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac are the 2 things I’ll remember from that show.

“The Glorious Sons” shared it….

From “Walk off the Earth”

NEW WOTE VIDEO!!

Follow a young girl named Ellie though a world of paper mache non-acceptance. Please share with the world.

For more background on the concept of this video, please read this note from our co-conspirator and director Ben Rispin:

“So, we made a video that encourages Trans youth to be themselves. We made it with with my dear friends in Walk Off The Earth this past summer. Today this video is public to everyone ( It was a Mashable exclusive until this morning).I had a flurry of announcements yesterday and I didn’t quite get to express just how proud I am of this project and everyone involved.
When one of my oldest buds Gianni Luminati Nicassio asked me to come up with treatment ideas for a song off their new record I was definitely flattered and over whelmed. WOTE’s videos are so well thought out, choreographed and well-rehearsed that I didn’t think I’d be able to produce / write / direct something worthy of what they do every day.
I got an advance copy of their album and started listening to the record over and over. A bunch of songs spoke to me but a song called “Alright” hit me like a ton of bricks. The message that the lyrics conveyed gave me goosebumps. I knew this song was really special. The song inspired an idea I pitched about possibly doing a kids show-themed video with bullies. The climax would see bullied kid literally exploding the bullies heads into confetti explosions in some sort of final number. Basically a lot of the visuals you’ll see in the video today. Gianni liked it and told me write it up. I immediately called my brother Cole, told him the opportunity and got him on scripting the idea and flushing out the story. Cole knocked it out of the park, the band approved and we got to work.
A couple weeks later I was out for drinks with Gianni and he mentioned Ellie. A transitioning girl that was a dancer that he’d like for the lead role of the video. He spoke of how she inspired him so much that he’d like the theme of the video to support trans youth. I was blown away by the idea. I was blown away that the band wouldn’t think twice about putting their names on the line for something they believe in. I know they’ve always been supportive of all communities, but they have a wide variety of fans from all walks of life ( basically the whole internet ) and would no doubt get trolled by haters. I didn’t bring this up. The cool thing about working with the WOTE crew is the band are visionaries and they’ve either weighed the consequences or just don’t care what they are. In this case, it was the ladder. This was important to the band and I couldn’t have been more impressed.

We called Cole with 11th hour script changes, made the adjustments and found an amazing location at Hamilton Theatre Inc. We didn’t have much budget for the crew at the theater, but they were more than accommodating. Paddy, Dustin, and everyone from the theater got on building sets, recruiting extras and fully committed to supporting this video in anyway they could. Awesome team, awesome people. With them, we were off to the races.
We enlisted the great The Butcher Shop to make our exploding heads and masks. Everything was coming together. When you’re dealing with a project like this it’s usually running around, freaking out and not really stopping and thinking about what’s going on but somehow we made it to our first day of shooting.
When I met Ellie on that first day of shooting is where everything got put into perspective for me. Ellie is the brave little girl who stars in this project. Never have I met someone like Ellie. Her soft spoken words, smile and genuine soul could warm the coldest of hearts. She’s quiet but clearly strong. The happy, approving nod she gives when she liked an idea filled everyone with confidence that we were making something special.
I haven’t had much experience with the transgender community. I haven’t. The first person I’d ever known to be publicly transgender was my friend Laura Jane Grace. Having read her story I saw how hard it was to grow up trans. How confusing that must have been for her. I can’t possibly know what it’s like, but the least we can all do is try to understand and support.
I guess what I’m getting at is I hope this project can help anyone be themselves at any age. I’d love to see a world where there aren’t 30 something back woods dudes like me scratching their heads when their friends announce they’re transgender. I’d love to see all communities embraced, accepted and treated equally And I’d really like to thank the WOTE crew for letting us be a part of this special, special video. Love you guys.”

SUPERBOWL

Today’s workout was brought to you by the letter “B”, as in Big Wreck

I avoid the Superbowl at all costs. The game is usually a side show to the commercials we don’t get through cable in Canada. Most people watch it since it’s the championship game for the NFL & for the half-time show. I’m all for the CFL but even it has been boring this year & last year. The NFL has never impressed me & the Superbowl is right around my birthday at the end of January. The half time show I’ll watch the next day on www.youtube.com

There’s already people throwing up red flags about Bruno Mars being the half time entertainment. Fair is fair, he’s not everyone’s preferred act. Remember, you can’t please everyone all of the time!

I ask you this. What has been among the top songs of this year? Oh, “Uptown Funk” would be one of them, along with a few others. So what would you like to have as the half time entertainment? Bruno Mars is hot at the moment & will increase the number of viewers which is what the Superbowl is all about, making money for the league. Off of the top of my head you have these 3 options & maybe a few more I can’t think of at the moment….

Can anyone think of another song off of Mark Ronson’s album other than “Uptown Funk” feat. Bruno Mars? I can’t, I didn’t buy the album, I bought the song & attached it to a Bruno Mars album I already own.

What sparked this conversation? This….

I’m not the be all & end all of music. There’s quite a bit of music I know nothing about but I like discovering stuff I’ve never heard. Please teach me?

I went to Moose Jaw today around 10:30. My mother was getting fruit there off of a truck from B.C. I think it was? Brewster & I went for a “car ride”. Nobody can say either of those words around him unless he is going for a “car ride”. He gets really excited & instantly worries he’ll be left behind, as well as frantically looking for his “leash”, another word we can’t say around him. Moose Jaw is about 40-45 minutes away. After 10 minutes roughly, he falls asleep on my lap until the vehicle stops!

Still one of my favourite songs to play or listen to!!

Royal Blood performance. I think I shared this yesterday?

Our Lady Peace. I’m all about their 1st 4 albums. I do own a Greatest Hits & 3 or 4 other albums though.

This is from their 2nd album “Clumsy” which was their breakthrough album

The Agonist shared it, so here it is. They were in Regina last week on Thursday at The Exchange, I really wanted to go but I don’t go out much on weeknights & Kim doesn’t like metal.

This Muse album will be the biggest disappointment this year for me. I had really high hopes for this album. Their 2nd , 3rd, & 4th album were great studio albums as well as their 5th/Live at Wembley CD/DVD (H.A.A.R.P.) LANGUAGE!!!!!

This is from their 4th album

Here’s my favourite venue for live music in Regina! Fun to play at The Exchange & a great place to take in a show.
