Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Paramore” the album “All We Know is Falling”

I exercised to “Mark Morton” his only solo album “Anesthetic”

I’ve noticed that with my exercise & paying more attention to what I eat or drink, I’m nowhere near as sick as I used to be.  Before cancer, I was sick about once a month if not more.  Now, after cancer, I get sick maybe once a year.

I’m still about 230 pounds.  Since I’m unable to get rid of my beer belly.  If/when I hit 210, that’s where I should be.  I need to do more cardio!  If I get any lower than 210, I’ll be nothing but “skin & bones”.

Sunday finished with me spilling or dropping everything I touched……………………Should have stayed in bed!

Hello Monday!  Ugh!  Brewster REALLY needs a trim.  Pooped on his pad as he should, then came off his pad, shook & unleashed 5 klingons.  Then proceeded to drag/scratch his butt all over the house.  Had to clean up some warm, smelly, squishy dog poop, & OOH MY IT SMELLED.  Poor little guy.  I could tell he’d been holding it in for that reason.

Just when I think he’s done I came here to the computer, go out, & there’s poop & butt streaks EVERYWHERE.  No I wouldn’t get mad at him over this, he tried & knows he did.  He just REALLY needs a trim.

Between writing this, exercising, having breakfast & lunch, cleaning up after Brewster, tending to the full dishwasher, washing a few dishes, & showering, I didn’t hit the couch until about 3:00 pm.  I was tired & sweaty!

Yesterday Kim was home sick with that awful cold that’s been going around.  So far I’m the only one amongst our immediate family that hasn’t had.  My mother, father, brother, sister-in-law, & now Kim have caught it or currently have it.

Kim’s OK & back at work today.  It’s 9:30 am here & already +24 Celcius in here (+75.2 Fairenhight) it’s only going to get warmer.  Time to open a few windows!

TAYLOR HAWKINS & THE COATTAIL RIDERS

Foo Fighters needed a drummer & Taylor wanted to be in a band.  Foo Fighters grabbed him from Alanis Morisette in 1997 while she was riding high on her album “Jagged Little Pill”.  Dave Grohl reminded him that if he practiced with them that he would have to join Foo Fighters.

Taylor wanted this to be called simply “The Coattail Riders” the label insisted that Taylor Hawkins put his name on it to boost sales.  Since I live in Canada, I had to order the 2 CDs they released each ordered on a release date when CDs were a thing.  The first S/T album is really good the second one was a stinker though.  This was Taylor Hawkins first release while drumming for Foo Fighters.  He had already started his cover band “Chevy Metal” though.  I’ll just give you some stuff from the first release.

2006

Foo Fighters were going to release a song called “Get up I wanna get down” on their 4th album but couldn’t work out the arrangement, this was released 2 years later.  I have no clue if this version sounds anything like the original that wasn’t released?

Please share this, I’m not profiting from this at all.  Word of mouth is the only way of promoting this.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

No exercises this week.  I’m too tired.  If I had done them this week the quality of them would be terrible.  Quality over quantity.

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “The Colour & The Shape”

I’m hesitant to do a metal band review.  I don’t want to turn dedicated readers away.  Let me know of I should?  If you’d prefer I don’t, this blog will likely end around June or July of this year.

After such a long time, well 7 years this July, every day is starting to feel like Groundhog Day.  Exercise for 75 – 90 minutes every day, eat relatively healthy, & wait patiently for the weekend to fly by, & repeat.  It feels very redundant, long time to get to this point, yet it feels as though I’m wired to stick to 1 thing & it’s getting boring.  Sure, I change up the order of my exercises, still kind of ho hum though.  I’m exhausted after my exercises & then find it difficult to get the motivation to hit the shower.

I just couldn’t do what I should have been doing this week.  It might feel cold outside but it has been sunny & that makes our place too hot for me +24C or more in here (75.2F).  I can’t turn on the A/C yet, so I’ll likely suffer in this heat doing my exercises the next few weeks.

At least Kim has today off with me.

I had “Dream Theater” preordered & got the full release last night.  10 songs averaging 6:30 minutes.  Progressive metal at it’s nerdiest.

I’m pretty sure this year will have numerous metal release, (Mark Morton (Lamb of God guitarist), In Flames, Lamb of God, Chevelle, Anthrax, Megadeth…) releases that I’m interested in as well as a new release from “Big Wreck”, & “Tool”.  Big Wreck is releasing a single.  Late last night I saw a new song on www.youtube.com

It’s a standalone single, I’m go to hold off until it’s a preorder single for the new album.

I think Facebook needed a break like I did this week?  To say that Facebook has been quiet this week would be an understatement.

However televised baseball spring training games start on Monday.  WOO HOO!

A few movies I’d like to see & possibly purchase this year?

There are others movies I’d like to see this year but that’s enough for now.  As for Motley Crue, I loved the book, but was never a fan of their “Hair Metal” music, or “Hair Metal” in general.

How many times have I heard this?  Well I didn’t get into them until after their 2nd album was released for a few months, I’ve heard this after multiple albums though!

THE BIRDS OF SATAN

This is 1 of 4 side projects by Taylor Hawkins, drummer for Foo Fighters.  The other 3 are separate projects 2 of which I’ll discuss later.  The 3rd is a cover band called “Chevy Metal”.  He’s the drummer & singer for each band.  He easily has a higher vocal range than Dave Grohl.  When Foo Fighters perform “The Pretender”, Taylor takes the high lead vocals in the chorus & Dave takes the lower harmony, I’m guessing this is to save Dave’s voice a bit.  As for who is the better drummer, that would be a hard pick.  Dave stole him from Alanis Morissette while she exploded to fame, touring her album “Jagged Little Pill”, which worked out well for Foo Fighters & especially Taylor.

This is only a 7 song EP & it’s the only release from The Birds of Satan.

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.  I can’t tell who’s reading this but thank you!

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Sonic Highways”, “The Damned Things” their only album “Ironiclast”

Don’t feel as though you have to click on every link.

Diets, they have their place.  In the end it comes to self-control & will power.  I’m not considering ever going on a diet.  I exercise 5 days a week (not at the moment with my pinched nerve) & I watch what I eat & as far as alcohol goes 2 drink on Friday & 2 on Saturday.  Some weekends nothing at the odd celebration 3 or 4.  My meals are fairly healthy as well.  Hardboiled egg & a juice I’ve made of fruits & vegetables for breakfast, usually a fish filet for lunch or something like a chicken breast & quinoa.  Then supper which is also healthy since my wife is watching her weight as well.  We try not to keep stuff full of sugar or fat in the house, & we rarely have bread around.  We’re not the healthiest people in the world, we eat potato chips, chocolate, & other junk food.  Just everything in moderation.

For me, having survived cancer was a good wake up call.  I got lucky & got a second chance at life.  I figure I should pay close attention to what nourishment I put in my body.  I don’t eat stuff I don’t like, I try to find a healthier option.  As for exercise, I’ve got the time to do it!

I understand the need for a weight loss program but you won’t eat that way forever.  It’s more of a push in the right direction to choose your options wisely when eating or going to the grocery store.

I graduated high school in June 1998 at 185 pounds.  For me to be under 215 or 220 would look weird.  I don’t really know what I am weight wise at the moment, I’m guessing I’m still around the 230 area?  The exercise I do is more for me being more mobile & independent surviving cancer, the weight loss is more of a byproduct.

Yes, it is slightly more expensive to eat healthy but I think it’s worth it.  I’d rather die much later than sooner!

BASEBALL RANT, THEN MUSIC NEWS

Today’s workout was brought to you by “Matt Mays & El Torpedo”!

Everybody wants to know are the Toronto Blue Jays going to sign free agent pitcher David Price? It’s a 50/50 shot, cross that bridge when you get there. If they do Edwin Encarnacion is up for free agency at the end of next season as well as José Bautista. All of them will want $20-$30 million a year to be locked in until the end of their careers. You have 3 first basemen in Encarnacion, Justin Smoak, & Chris Colabello. Edwin Encarnacion has the biggest price tag by millions of $, & the newly acquired & signed Short Stop Troy Tulowitski will be making $20,000,000 a year for the next 4 years. Yet you have someone young, Ryan Goins, who’s glove is reminiscent of Roberto Alomar & is able to play 2B, SS, or 3B. He may not have a powerful swing but he gets on base. Whether they sign David Price or not, the end of the 2016 season could turn out to be a rebuilding year from 2017 on. I say throw money at David Price & either Bautista or Encarnacion. Maybe think about Tulowitzki at SS. I have nothing against any of the players personally, but I’d trade R.A. Dickey and Josh Thole also. Dickey has no clue where his one pitch (Knuckle ball) is going to end up & Thole is his personal catcher, who adds minimal offense. That would free up a PILE of cash. You’ve got the bones of a World Series winner the question is are you going to act on it now or let it slip away? Don’t forget the revenue increase just by making it to the playoffs, millions of viewers on TV, millions of fans in the seats, & millions sold on merchandise. Way more than in 1993!

The fact that Toronto sports analysts are talking about baseball on call in shows in November is a GIGANTIC NEON sign to Rogers Communications. You’re a multi billion dollar organization. Maybe open the purse strings & strike when the Jays are HOT?

In Flames roadie documentary. In Flames are classified as a Swedish melodic death metal band. When I saw them on the final tour by ‘Sounds of the Underground’, an underground metal tour that James & I were at to see “Trivium”, the In Flames sound check was HILARIOUS & DISTURBING! A roadie came out to test the microphone & said “The little boys ass. The ass of a little boy” in a very thick Swedish accent!

I know………it’s weird. Metal or hard rock has been my go to sleep music since I got my first CD player/Boom box.

My Grandparents, on my mother’s side of the family, got me a walkman in the 1980s & a cassette with it. Alabama. I try to avoid country music because so much of it has that southern twang to it. I began recording songs to cassettes from the radio in my bedroom. I do remember recording ‘Prince’ on AM radio. When 1300 CJME was a rock station.

UNWRITTEN RULES

If you’re getting this through facebook, feel invited to like & share this!

“…I did it again…” woke up thinking it was Saturday. Then came to the horrible realization that it’s only Tuesday/.

Poor Donna! This must be what Kim feels like some days….

Guess who’s been involved with this crap against multiple teams this year? Hint-(It’s not the Blue Jays) If the umpire hadn’t issued the warning in the first inning this wouldn’t have happened in the 8th inning! Unwritten rule in baseball, “You hit our guy, we hit your guy.” Then each team get’s a warning & nothing happens from then on. This is NOT an intentional hit, it hit his shin. Not his back, shoulder or hip. If a pitcher chooses to throw at someone, they make it count & deliver a clear message!

There are unwritten rules everywhere, not just in baseball. “Honey, do these pants make my butt look fat?” unwritten rule it’s always “No, you look FANTASTIC IN EVERYTHING” Kim has never asked me that & doesn’t need to ever. But if you answer incorrectly you’ll spend an eternity trying to dig yourself out of a hole that you may just end up making bigger & never get out of. This unwritten rule applies to anyone & everyone in a relationship. One of those rules no one will tell you directly how to answer, something you’ll hear in passing or find out the hard way. Good luck out there & “Keep your stick on the ice”-Red Green

THAT FELT LIKE A FAST WEEKEND…………….& I DON’T EVEN HAVE A JOB!

Riders lost……………….again. 0W-8L. I didn’t see any poorly played football, but that sure isn’t what the fans want to see as an outcome, not why I have season tickets? The Toronto Blue Jays on the other hand scored 36 runs over 3 days in Anaheim 9-3 Friday, 15-3 Saturday, & 12-5 on Sunday! They scored more points than the Saskatchewan Roughriders over the weekend??? I was certainly happy with the Blue Jays out come! CFL, I’ve lost “…..that loving feeling…” to watch EVERY game this year like I usually do. I only watch Rider games & can tell there’s a greater chance of them losing the game.  Yes, I “coach” the Saskatchewan Roughriders & the Toronto Blue Jays from my couch or in Mosaic Stadium.  Neither team listens to me, kind of like my wife?

It was going to take you back their anyways. I hear there’s a sequel coming!

That weekend seemed to fly by for me, I don’t know why? I didn’t do much, didn’t even go to the football game. It was windy & raining all day, cleared up by game time but we had already made our decision to not go.

You can’t get these on their albums. From what I know they’re working on their 4th studio album, the future album is to be original music. They also have 2 Christmas albums out at the moment.
