I fell asleep to “Metallica” the album “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct”

I exercised to “Queens of the Stone Age” the album “Villains”

As soon as they got into the meat & potatoes of this song at the show, I think everyone got up to dance.

I severely bruised my left hand Monday evening while lifting a heavy box of CD.  That was the only day I did pushups.  At the moment I can’t put any pressure on my left palm or any finger, other than my index finger & thumb.

I wasted 27 years being afraid of death.  6 days after my 28th birthday, I was in a month long coma.  Me dying, never crossed my mind.  I didn’t see Heaven or Hell when I was unconscious.  I was alone in the Conexus Arts Center (live theater in Regina).  I was in the empty seats & I was with Oprah of all people, does this mean Oprah is a God?  I never pictured Oprah being where ever I was??!!?!  I rarely saw Oprah on TV.  If someone else was watching it, I’d see while going to a different room.

The point of this is, the thought of dying used to scare the crap out of me.  Now, not at all.  I’m not out there looking for death in any way.  I’m not about to become a reckless dare devil.  I’ll just keep doing my thing until my time is up, hopefully that’s in the very distant future.

In no way do I want to die, but I’m not scared of it at all though.  I don’t know where I was?  I know I wasn’t scared though.  In a coma for a month, yet completely calm.  I believe in an afterlife, Heaven & I acknowledge that there may be a place called Hell.

Question is was I “Dead or Dreaming”, I like to think I was dreaming. The following is from “Into Eternity” the album “Dead or Dreaming”

BETTER THAN EZRA

I have their first two albums only.  From the ‘90s while I was in high school.  I saw the video for the song “Good” from their first album & was hooked immediately.  According to http://www.wikipedia.com they’re based in New Orleans, Louisiana.  I bought the first 2 albums on either BMG or Columbia House, buy 12 CDs for a penny then buy 1 for $30.  I jumped “back & forth” between the 2.  From what I can tell on iTunes they have 9 studio albums, a Greatest Hits album, & a live album.

Here are a few songs from Better than Ezra’s first 2 albums.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  A Perfect Circle, Tremonti, & Dead Sara.

Friday I went to the final exhibition football game of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.  We left with about 3:00 left in the game since they were losing 38-9 at the time in the 4th quarter.  This could be a very long season.

Hannah wanted to sleep over at “auntie” Kim & “uncle” Chris’ house.  Unfortunately I didn’t get to see her much.  5 minutes before I left for the game & when I got home everyone was in bed.  I slept on the couch as usual & slept in, with my iPod playing.  I couldn’t hear a thing.  Pretty much “Hi Hannah & bye Hannah”.

The rest of Saturday was quiet in the afternoon.  Ended up going to Sherry & James’ place.  BBQ, back patio, some beer, & music playing on they’re laptop.

I preordered the new “Tremonti” album on iTunes only to find on Saturday it was WAY out of whack!  The songs go 1, 3, 12, 2, 4-11 in order then 11, 13, 14.  Weird?

This is the same issue I had before.  The guy I called last time this happened isn’t in the office until Monday evening.  He was very good last time, actually the best customer service person I have ever dealt with, at any type of business!  Hopefully I’ll hear from him tomorrow.  I’m out of ideas as to how to fix it, I’ve tried about 9 different things.

You know what today is, get ready for the week.  Laundry, groceries, hardboiled eggs, fish, & juice.  YAY!

Last week my exercise nearly killed me!  I haven’t been that sweaty ever other than my therapy outdoors at the WRC in July 2012.  Here’s looking for a better/less grueling week!

SUM 41

A Canadian band out of Ontario in the Greater Toronto Area.  They came onto the scene in 2001 as a pop-punk band with their release “All Killer No Filler”.  There is one release before this album called “Half Hour of Power”.  Until their last 2 releases I haven’t paid much attention to them.  I got their first album to see what all of the rage was about.  I wasn’t a fan.

The group has 8 studio albums & a greatest hits album from what I can tell from iTunes.  I only own 3 albums in total, I only listen to the 2 most recent releases.  They’ve become more of a rock band than a pop-punk band.  You’ll hear the difference from their 1st big album to the 2 most recent albums.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music over the weekend.

Friday, my mom came over for a bit in the afternoon, during an unpleasant down pour of rain & a bit of a wind.  I watched the Toronto Blue Jays lose their 4th game in a row.  I stayed up late watching a video of a 4 hour long podcast with Joe Rogen interviewing Kevin Smith.  I watched it over the course of 4 days.  I’ve also been watching a show called “Imposters” on Netflix, odd show but it becomes very addicting the more you watch it.

Saturday was very uneventful.  Blue Jay, another loss, & more “Imposters” on Netflix.  Kim hard boiled some eggs & did some laundry.

Today is more of us getting ready for the week.  Me making a vegetable juice & baking fish, Kim will be doing the rest of the laundry.

WIDE MOUTH MASON

A blues/jazz/rock trio from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  I really don’t know much about them.  They released 6 albums in total & I haven’t heard anything about them lately.  The 6th album is with a different bass player.  I don’t have the 6th album, only the first 5 on CD.  I first heard of them in the summer of 1996.  They were playing a free local music festival in Regina downtown in Victoria Park…..

1997        Self – Titled release

1997     WHERE I STARTED

1998     STEW

2002    RAINED OUT PARADE

2005         SHOT DOWN SATELLITES

I think I stopped going to their live shows after seeing them live on tour for the album “Rained out Parade”.  Kim & I went with Rob & Diane.  The drummer & bass player rolled a joint to smoke on stage.  I don’t have any issues with marijuana.

I paid to see them play music, smoke weed on your own time.  My ticket said nothing about watching them get high on stage, & that’s not why I was there.  Do that before or after a show, if I run into you on the street, go ahead.  Just don’t ask me to pay to watch you smoke a joint.

Keeping it in the family!  I had a lot of fun in every band I played with, but even more with my brother!

I fell asleep to “A Perfect Circle” the album “Eat the Elephant”

I exercised to “Burn the Priest” the album “Legion XX” basically Lamb of God’s first name.  This is a covers album.

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 day weekly exercise total; 960 pushups, 800 leg lifts, 400 crunches, 400 squats, 330 tricep pushups, & 160 back flexes.

Well that was dumb!  Resumed my exercise like always on Tuesday!  Even though I have not done any exercise since Friday, May 11th.  Somedays my stupidity amazes me!  Probably most other people too hahahaha!  Rhetorical question, keep the answer to yourself please.

I’m the one that puts all of the pressure on me, nobody else.  This week I got really frustrated with my exercise.  Thinking to myself “I have to do better, I have to do more…etc.”  I also had one of those moments, where I took a step back & thought “Is this what I’ll be doing until I die?”, at that moment I realized I have a lot of family & friends I can count on to help me out!

Americans & the rest of the world are worried about a nuclear war.  Why are Americans afraid?  They’ve got their guns to protect them, & if they don’t own a gun they’ll probably be shot?  They kind of have a bad option.  Would you prefer to be killed in a nuclear war or be shot, especially a civil war?  I’m not joking here.  Just mentioning a sad reality!

These days, I really try not to take anything too seriously.  A couple of people tried to make fun of me on a public Facebook page, they knew nothing about me & I knew nothing about them.  I didn’t see any of the multiple posts where they were acting very immature until my brother tagged me in a response.  Thanks Mitch, let them go at it.  If someone I don’t know on Facebook wants to take a cheap shot at me, so be it.  In the end, they’re the ones who made the comments, I did not reply to my statement about emojis.  Because emojis are a FANTASTIC reason to get upset………………….NOT!

ECONOLINE CRUSH

They have 5 albums & 1 EP.  I own their first 2 albums on CD & another from iTunes.  Wikipedia says they’re from Vancouver, British Columbia, I always thought they were originally from a small farming town in Manitoba.  Wikipedia is not always correct with pop culture stuff such as bands, movies, & TV series.  I could be wrong also?  Their sound is that of a rock band that’s influenced by industrial metal, they are NOT a metal group, I would call them an industrial rock band.

I’m not an expert on them, but a lot of my friends are.  I like them quite a bit.  This is another post-grunge group from Canada that were HUGE in the late 1990s & early 2000s.  There’s an album & an EP that were released prior to this album.  Honestly, I haven’t listened much to the album I got from iTunes.

I thought it was a well-deserved moment this week when Ashton Kutcher donated $4,000,000 to Ellen Degeneres’ wild life foundation for the gorillas in Africa!

If any of this is true (which I HIGHLY doubt it is) I’ll go back to buying CDs.  Amazon, here I come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Maybe?  Oh, the lies!  I couldn’t find the link he saw on that site!  Also, you would think iTunes users would get a direct email regarding this?!

Ask Maynard James Keenan a dumb question & he’ll reply with a dumb answer.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Should I be worried that I take the same black & pink pills for heart burn that “Butt Drugs” carries?  Should I take them anally?

Friday was me watching most of the Toronto Blue Jays game.  Kim thinks she’s catching a cold.  Friday she grabbed some medication & went to bed at 8:30 pm I think it was.

Saturday was more of the same.  Woke up, had breakfast.  Kim put in a load of laundry, then she & Brewster had a nap on the couch.  She woke up about an hour or more before the Blue Jay game came on, & went to bed after a Tim Hortons run for soup.

We finished Saturday watching a documentary on Netflix!

This is our lives in our late 30s.

Kim is still sick today.  Brewster was freaked last night.  He jumped off of the bed many times & whined until Kim helped up each time.  He can’t get on our bed without help, he’s vertically challenged!

I guess the power went out, so the smoke detectors were beeping, which he hates.  They beeped again when the power came back on.

I had a weird dream.  I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to go to work or university.  I was late & couldn’t find my calculus text book?  I rode my motorcycle to work & couldn’t find anybody to let me know what needed to be done?

I have never owned or had a desire to ride a motorcycle & a calculus text book is not needed for running a printing press?

Maybe order groceries & get ready for the week, as usual.  FYI I found more T-Shirts that fit!

My music over the weekend “Dead Sara”, “Foo Fighters”, “Queens of the Stone Age”, “Myles Kennedy”, “Into Eternity”, “Third Ion” & “Megadeth”

BIG WRECK

Original line up dropped out of ‘The Berkley School of Music’ to form Big Wreck & released their debut album in 1997.  3 Americans & 1 Canadian, voted to be the singer by band members.  They released their 2nd album in 2001 & broke up the following year.  During this time singer, Ian Thornley, started another group called “Thornley”.  Different label also.  2 albums were released by the group.  Big Wreck reformed with different band members on drums & bass, & original 2nd guitarist.  Big Wreck released their 3rd album in 2012.  I was still in my rehabilitation center, but there was no way I was missing their show in Regina that year.

In total ‘Big Wreck’ has 5 studio releases & a live EP with a studio cover of ‘The Cars’.

I consider myself a metal fan, well some metal.  As you might know by now, there are other genres I like.  I am a pretty loyal fan of whatever group I’m listening to in most cases.  If I really like them, I’m always willing to listen to or purchase their entire catalogue when possible.  I’m on a monthly iTunes allowance.  Now I know who’s worth $9.99, which helps quite a bit!

I fell asleep to “A Perfect Circle” the album “Eat the Elephant”

Had breakfast while listening to “Barenaked Ladies” the album “Grinning Streak”

Need a day to rest my body & wake up, so I can do my exercises tomorrow!  I feel like I have to catch up to everyone.  A day without exercise is a wasted day to me & I started out 4.5 years behind everyone.

Sunday I was fall over sitting down tired, Monday was more of the same, so no exercising Monday.  Since “Sunday morning” I’ve felt over tired, I exercised Tuesday but not “today.”

The week started off with multiple phone calls with doctors & labs setting appointments.  YAY…………….BOOOO.  I’ve got better things to do than go to all of these routine cancer survivor checkups.  I know I’m fine.  I’ll go to multiple doctors & they’ll tell me the exact same thing.  “Everything looks good on the scan.  See you in a year.”  Who doesn’t work & has to be somewhere at 7:30 am?

I’d much prefer blood work & a scan in one appointment & send it all to one doctor.  Nope multiple appointments since Monday until next week & another routine doctor appointment in the summer.

I know these are important but good grief “will it ever stop?”  I had cancer in 2008 & I’m still being poked & tested?

Wait in a waiting room for roughly an hour Monday evening to give 2 vials of blood for your doctor appointment next week.

SO NOT COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about we spend one day going for a scan & giving blood?  Then another day for the doctor appointments regarding the scan & blood work? One doctor will tell me his thoughts on the blood work & the other one will do the same, call me fat & send me on my way.  Am I in a good mood?  Not really!

I guess it’s only 3 weeks of the year.  I just don’t want to do this anymore.  I survived cancer, leave me alone for a bit please.  I’ve been tired since Sunday.  My exercises on Tuesday was pretty much a zombie going very slowly through the motions.

Kim has to take time off of work & if she’s not there she doesn’t get paid.  Sure no problem, let’s make this a month long extravaganza!

I’m grateful to be alive, just frustrated at the moment!  Also deathly tired, no exercise today.  TV & the couch are calling me.  I likely won’t be online much at all today.  Probably have a nap today, my body feels like a rag doll.

A PERFECT CIRCLE

Since they’ve recently released their 4th studio album, this seems like a good time to review this band.  This is the singer’s, Maynard James Keenan, 2nd of 3 groups.  He’s also the singer for “Tool” & “Puscifer”.  “Tool” is his first successful group.  The story goes that “A Perfect Circle’s” guitarist & music writer.  Was a guitar tech for “Tool” aka a roadie.  Maynard overheard some of the music on Billy Howerdel’s computer.  Maynard liked it & asked if he could sing on it.  As soon as they released their first album most people instantly compared them to “Tool”.  Fair enough, the first album was fairly comparable to a “Tool” album, but “Tool” seems to be able to fit in many mainstream genres in their own way.  “A Perfect Circle’s” first album was their hard rock album with breaks of light ambient music to ease off the gas pedal & let fans breathe for a second, much like “Tool”.  The 2nd album had a few heavy songs amongst more accessible songs.  The 3rd album was full of mostly unrecognizable covers.  The music & melody were all completely different but the lyrics were the same.

After the cover album they released a ‘Greatest Hits’ album with one new song on it.

I wasn’t much of a fan of the cover album or this new song.  I have the album of covers on CD, but not the ‘Greatest Hits’ album in any form.

That brings us to their new album “Eat the Elephant”.  Some longtime fans of the group that I’ve spoken with are somewhat disappointed with this album.  I was also, at first it’s not nearly as heavy as most of their previous songs or albums.  After it’s release on April 20th & multiple listens to the album, I can’t stop listening to it.  Much like their 2nd album & the first single from it, I was somewhat disappointed at first.  If you’ve ever been a fan of “A Perfect Circle” don’t give up on this album.  I don’t know what it was but something made me go back to it multiple times.

Here’s a song from each release.

I fell asleep to “A Perfect Circle” the new album “Eat the Elephant”

I exercised to “Tesseract” the album “Sonder”

While I was in the Wascana Rehabilitation Center from early 2009 – July 26th, 2012.  Kim & I met someone we consider a longtime friend, a nurse by the name of Shelda!  She’s really nice & very funny.  She really doesn’t look her age either.  She looks younger than me, but is actually older than both Kim & I.  She called us “You 2 are some of the nicest people I have met!”  I’ll say she’s right on point with Kim, me on the other hand, well she might want to try again.  I can always do better at anything.  She’ll come by on occasion, but she lives outside of Regina.  She’s HILARIOUS also!  I believe she started working in the “Home Care” portion of the Health Region as of sometime in February.

I may not be one of the nicest people kickin’ around, but Shelda is.  Don’t ever mention the Saskatchewan Roughriders around her though because you will be met with “You know what I think of the Riders?  They’re POOP!”  That’s pretty direct quote from her.  I know she has said it to me more than once!

This whole cancer thing worked out pretty good for me, I survived, I’m a little bit different, I’m physically handicapped.  I did meet a lot of cool people to go along with my other friends from my life prior to cancer, B.C. & A.C.  Before cancer & after cancer.  Now that I’m alive & well without a chip on my shoulder, I can laugh about it when I look back at that time of my life.

Truth be told we met a lot of great people while I was sick, doctors, nurses, & special care aids!  I heard one of the many nurses say something to the tune of ‘We don’t do this for the money!’

FINGER ELEVEN & I MOTHER EARTH

These are both my brother’s favourite bands.  When “I Mother Earth” released their 2nd album “Scenery & Fish” we both listened to that CD constantly.  We each had a purchased copy of it.  “Finger Eleven” changed drummer & their name from “Rainbow Butt Monkeys” & were all over Much Music with their 1st single “Above”.  The first time we saw them, they were opening for “I Mother Earth” in 1999.  I Mother Earth had their 2nd singer who recorded the last 2 of 4 albums with them “Blue Green Orange” & “The Quicksilver Meat Dream”.  We saw IME touring for their album “Blue Green Orange” in 1999 with Finger Eleven as their opener.

Tuesday evening they were both in Regina at the Casino!  There was no way I was going to miss this show, with 2 Canadian legends of rock.

“Rainbow Butt Monkeys” tune.  More funky than Finger Eleven.  I should listen to this more often.  Mitch & I really liked this album.  Finger Eleven & “I Mother Earth” are Mitch’s favourite bands, they inspired him to take bass lessons & eventually become an AWESOME guitar player!  I was always a singer first, I grabbed a guitar mostly because it was my security blanket, then it was about filling out the sound.

First single from Finger Eleven was “Above” I believe.

This I Mother Earth song was on Much Music & the local rock radio station in 1999 around the time we saw them in Regina.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SHOW FOR ME!

First thing were the 2 “interpretive dancers” in the audience.  They started on opposite sides of the open floor.  I’m sure they locked eyes across the, now dance floor, & really liked the others moves & lack of rhythm.  Rachel & I weren’t sure if we should watch the bands or the 2 “dancers”?  We both couldn’t stop laughing!

I’m sure if you look up “white men dancing” on google you’ll get a picture or video of the 2 guys.  They were completely sober which made it even funnier!  There’s no way that a drunk person could even consider attempting their moves.

Very poor turn out.  Our balcony seats immediately became floor level seats at a table.  Very pleasant surprise!

Finger Eleven opened the show with “Above” & some of these songs in their set.

I Mother Earth came out after & started their set with “Not Quite Sonic”

I’ll likely never hear this song (below) again live

When I Mother Earth play a popular song, you never hear the radio edited version.  You are almost guaranteed an extra minute live.

Edwin didn’t record the following song & has never tried it live until this tour, some of it was really good & other parts were questionable.

To finish the show, members of both bands hit the stage.  They all did one original song from both bands & a cover song I can’t place.  The chorus sounded familiar though.

The show took me back to 1999 Edgefest & seeing them in Regina together also in 1999.

When I Mother Earth were together & recording albums I saw them twice doing their own show once in 1996 in Saskatoon with Edwin singing.  A second time in Regina in 1999 with Finger Eleven opening for them & IME’s second singer Brian.  I’ve seen them more now that they’ve “broken up” than I ever did when they were recording new music in the ‘90s.  I went to the show with Mitch, Rachel, & Chet!

Great show!  I missed a baseball game for it, but I wasn’t going to miss this show!

What you need to know about “The Avengers Infinity War”.  I plan to see it eventually.  Guardians of the Galaxy & Dr. Strange really messed up the Marvel Comic movies for me though.

I always record “The Ellen Degeneres Show” on CTV, a Canadian feed.  ABC would typically have breaking news of something terrible happening in America.  When Kim & I were in our first house years ago, before I got cancer I switched to CTV to avoid missing the show.  Well on Monday it didn’t work.  A van drove into a crowd killed 9 people & injured 16 others last I heard.  The breaking news recorded instead, about 15 minutes into the show.  Police have captured a suspect.  I believe they may be looking for another.  Either way, it’s a tragedy that can’t be undone.  Is it just me or is the world just turning into a terrible place?

Please share this, I’m not profiting from this at all?  Word of mouth is the only way of promoting this.
