I fell asleep to “Paramore” the recently released album “After Laughter”

I exercised to “Rage Against the Machine” the self-titled album

I’m 37 now, high school was a loooooooooooooooooooooong time ago.  Next year, I graduated 20 years ago.  High school isn’t something I think of very often since it was so long ago.  It was very much a clique situation.  I wasn’t a jock, “cool kid”, a part of any labeled group.  I hung out with Timothy Wong, Jonny Amore & Guy McWatt.  When I wasn’t with them, Timothy Wong & I hung out with Faye Wallenberg & Jan Wagner.  Both of those groups were pretty much unlabeled from what I know.  My high school was ENORMOUS!  I think my graduating class of 1998 was 240+?  I know for sure it was over 200 people.  I played in the school band, quit that & joined the choir.  Choir stuck as an extra-curricular activity, then I auditioned for the schools Chamber Choir, I made it!  I never expected to be on the list but I was beyond surprised!  The music program was very well regarded, one of the best in Western Canada, how did I fit into that?

In grade 11 (1997) I figured I’d try out for the baseball team, I made that too!  Another thing that I was shocked with!  I was seriously lacking in self-confidence.  I figured eventually “What’s the worst that can happen?  I might as well give it a shot.”  Achieving those 2 things were both pretty cool to me.

That was the last year I played baseball.  Playing 3B on a city league team & my high school team, I ended up throwing my arm out.  It just ached all of the time.  As much as I would have liked to play the next year, I knew I was done, just when I got really good at striking out VERY consistently.  I had one single in my last 2 seasons!  My batting average must have been .008 over the last 2 years, that’s not a good average at all.  A decent average for a 3B is around .260 or more.  I played baseball from the age of 4 – 17 so 1984-1997.  By 1996 the pitching was too fast for me, good thing I knew how to field decently to play every day.

Those were my 2 hobbies.  That’s why I watch as much baseball as possible & know a bit about music.  I may listen to rock & metal quite a bit but I’m not against orchestral music or listening to one of the many Harry Connick Jr. albums I own.

I can’t tell you where this all comes from.  I come in here, in front of my computron & just write verbal diarrhea.  Whatever pops out.  Stream of consciousness, like one of my favourite books “The Catcher in the Rye”.  I haven’t read that in years.

If you’re here strictly for the cancer news, that’s all I have for you today.

Since the release of “After Laughter” by “Paramore”, I’ve been on an intense Paramore kick, with all 5 of their albums.  This new one sounds completely different & there’s definitely a “Blondie” influence.  I’ve never been hooked on Blondie though.

Just wanted to show that I’m not the only one who hears a “Blondie” influence.

I went to see “The Proclaimers” last year at the casino.  I remember sitting there thinking to myself “I’m probably the only one here wearing a ‘Lamb of God’ T-Shirt that will be back here in 2 days to see ‘I Mother Earth”

With the Manchester bombing & all of the other garbage happening in this world, I’m thankful to wake up the next day, especially with Trump steering, arguably, the most powerful country on earth!  My thoughts go out to those in Manchester who went out to unwind & have a good time.

The world is a VERY UGLY place right now!  It’s only going to get better if we all work together.  Seems like there is hatred around every corner now.  Remember how some little picture said it takes 42 muscles to frown and only 10 or fewer to smile?  I say “Smile & Wave” more at people instead of frowning & shuffling on.  It’s an ugly “dirty world” out there, do what you can to help out someone, it doesn’t have to be a HUGE gesture.  Help an elder cross the street?

I feel sorry for the younger generation that will inherit this mess we’ve collectively screwed up.  At least we get a mood booster from Ellen Degeneres weekly!

Rockers react to the attack in Manchester

I totally agree with Randy Blythe, of Lamb of God! “..the human race must do better than this..”

I’m not against any religion or atheist, believe in whatever you choose or don’t believe at all.  What religious book are they reading?  What ‘God’ would tell followers to kill others?  Why do others have to conform to the same religion as the EXTREMISTS do?  Why aren’t the other religious followers of the same religion doing what the extremists are doing?

I’m not trying to take this latest attack lightly.  If you think about it ISIS are like the carnival game whack-a-mole. They pop up, mess with your day, and go back into hiding before you can get them.  Why?  Because members of ISIS know they did something wrong!

New ‘Stone Sour’ video!!!!!!!!!!!!  Album out June 30th

Apple Music playlist of recent rock releases.  I’ve got both “Highly Suspect” albums & a few on preorder at the moment.  “Stone Sour”, “Royal Blood”, & “Nothing but Thieves”.  I really like the “Muse” single as well.  I bought the single & attached it to my favourite Muse album or else I’d never listen to it as a standalone single.

Why so that there are more people to witness and be injured in a terrorist attack?  You need to think a step ahead of ISIS!  I don’t see adding more troops/security/police doing much unless they know what to look for.  Until our protectors change the game & get ahead, the same thing will continue to happen.   I’m not trying to say they aren’t doing as much as possible at the moment, but whoever they are, it’s time to change their/our approach.

Busy day, lots to do here.  Not much time for the computron or interweb today.  I’ll be on here later.  Mostly I’ll be watching the Blue Jay game today!

I fell asleep to “The Pretty Reckless” the album “Light Me Up”

I exercised to “Big Wreck” all 4 studio albums on shuffle

^^I broke my nose to that last song at Edgefest, a 1 day outdoor festival in Saskatoon, only bone I’ve ever broken. I’ve cracked ribs & stretched tendons in my right knee while playing baseball, but they’ve healed..

Since the passing of Steve Jobs, Apple has made error after error, it’s a fact, look it up! Apple stock is on a decline while Microsoft is on an incline. As you know, I don’t like the idea of streaming music, it has it’s pros & cons. The moment we signed up for Apple Music, iTunes doubled multiple files in our iTunes catalogue. Sure it’s cheap, $9.99 I think…I don’t use it, Kim does. Corey McDonald & I were talking about it a few weeks ago. He made a very good point. Saying that we’ll always have access to music, even if Apple Music & other streaming sites cease to exist. True, solid point. I view it differently.

We’ve always been able to purchase our music & be assured that it’s in our possession, now streaming music feels like renting music, to me? Yes, everything I buy music wise is from iTunes now & yes I miss being able to read the liner notes, the lyrics & thank you sections on a physical copy.

Now a country, not sure which one, has declared that burning a CD from iTunes is illegal. Now Apple sells their laptops & iMacs without a CD tray, that seems illegal to me. I haven’t put all of my CDs on my iTunes, what if I had an Apple computer? No CD drive & somewhere around 300 CDs to import? If I wanted them all on iTunes, I’d have to repurchase each album? That would be in the neighborhood of $3000? But I own them now on CD at roughly $25 each! I’ve paid for them once & now I’d have to buy them again? Sure I could go to a streaming site & get them. What if said streaming music site worked like Netflix? Netflix shows aren’t on there for life? They change their catalogue of shows on a monthly basis? So if I attain my music from a streaming site, will it be there forever. Probably & maybe not at the same time.

I also have a few CDs that are now out of print? iTunes doesn’t have them, will a streaming site? This is out of print so I’m glad I bought this on CD when I found out about it in 2001 or 2002?

I also have a few other CDs out of print & not available anywhere. I had bought some newer albums on iTunes by a group Corey got me interested in. He saw them on my iTunes & said they’re not available on Apple Music yet. I don’t want to wait for new music that isn’t available yet on a streaming site yet. I’m not saying streaming music sites are wrong, I’m saying they’re not for me. Guess who is making money on Digital music?………………….the site that provides the music, download, streaming or from a CD store. Vinyl, I have no idea? So the people actually making the product aren’t making money on any sales of their product? That seems wrong to me. It’s legal, but it doesn’t work for me. If I had the physical space, I’d be purchasing CDs or Vinyl records still. An album on iTunes costs $9.99 usually how about splitting that 3 ways? $3.33 for Apple, the label/management and the artist(s), then everyone gets an equal amount as opposed to $0.71 for the band/artist that is signed to a label? $9.99 wont kill me, maybe I’ll have to wait a few weeks because it doesn’t fit into our budget at the moment, at least I know that once I buy it, it will be there forever.

I can’t be the only person with computer access that thinks this way? Apple isn’t keeping iTunes available for just me.

In the end it doesn’t really matter how you get your music. The musicians of today are making far less than they would have 8 years ago, thank you Napster for nothing! Really, financially nothing!

Kim was going to get me a “Fit Bit” for my birthday earlier this year. I can count the sets of my workout & keep track of what I’m doing. When we go walking, she puts on her GPS on her phone. Nice gesture, but I can count.

10 best American metal bands…………..in the eyes of those at www.loudwire.com

I don’t think I’d just slap the metal label on Tool? I do like Lamb of God though!

Alter Bridge dedicate this song to the troops!!! Thank you!

From what I’ve heard Alter Bridge is set to release their 5th studio album in September. Depending if it’s early or late in September, a preorder should be available in July or August possibly. For those who don’t know Alter Bridge is made from the guitarist, original bassist, & drummer from Creed. The singer is the difference. Creed had a baritone singer, Scott Stapp. Alter Bridge has a tenor singer, Myles Kennedy. Every studio album has surpassed the previous album, for me.

Maya Rudolph & Martin Short in a variety show. It starts tonight, & I’ve got the series recording. Seems like it will be a funny show. I really like them individually! Theme song inside the link.

Here is a festival line up I’d attend in the USA if my passport hadn’t expired.

I’ve been a fan of Foo Fighters since ’97 when their 2nd album was released. Big Wreck is right up there with them since I was able to see them live in ’99 when I was 19 & of age to get inside a bar. I think now I should add Tool & Alter Bridge to the top of my favourite groups. If The Watchmen were still recording new music they’d be a very close 2nd to that group along with many others, for me.

Prophets of Rage announce line up & first show!!!!!!

This 2nd album from progressive metal group, Third Ion, sounds like it will far surpass the success of the first album.

Glastonbury festival line up & Stage times announced

Other than Muse, Adele, Coldplay, & The 1975, I wouldn’t attend this festival if I could.

I was going to leave this until Monday, but I’d likely forget it. I beat cancer, my body did, & Kim told my parents “He’s not going to die”. I did nothing but sleep 23 hours a day for the majority of 2008. So I beat cancer, does that make me a hero, an idiot, a jerk, a $%^*^%$@!&? Not to me, I’m me! Don’t be like me, “Be Yourself”. Call me whatever you want. I did the least amount required to live. Kim, family & a TON of friends helped me beat cancer. Remember I’m none of those things listed above, I beat cancer, but I had to get cancer first in order to beat it! I never expect/want anyone to do the same as me. I don’t have time for cancer, & you likely have less time for it. Everybody has a job, kids, a hobby or a spouse. Most people have at least one of those things! Nobody sits around & does nothing all day everyday. Even me. I workout like mad because I have to & I want to be more independent. Do I expect everyone else to do the same amount of exercising I do? Good grief no! I have a day everyday to work on me. Nobody else has that kind of time on their hands! Call me whatever you want, I’m going to stick with my birth name, Christopher!

Friday & Saturday we did nothing. Kim wasn’t feeling good on Saturday, which seems to be going around at the moment. She feels fine other than her stomach is a little uneasy. I’ve been watching the Blue Jays all weekend. Friday was a “Murphy’s Law” day. Chris Colabello tested positive for steroids an hour or two before game time so he’s suspended for 80 games with no pay. Saturday was the complete opposite, a win for the Jays 9-3 that’s the type of offense Blue Jay fans have come to expect. They won 6-3 on Sunday which puts them in 2nd place in their division behind The Baltimore Orioles who are 11W-6L while the Jays are 10W-10L, but I think the offense is coming around for the Blue Jays finally?

We didn’t leave the house all weekend, I wanted to see “Batman vs. Superman” as a matinee, but that didn’t happen Kim just wanted to stay home & do nothing, so I watched Blue Jay baseball all weekend, some Netflix, & now a rental on iTunes.

Halestorm shared it……

New video from ‘Gojira’. I’ve heard the name many times but I’ve never actually heard their music.

Nope, not for me. I’ll take Simon & Garfunkel’s original version any day

I first tried to fall asleep to “Dream Theater” the self titled album. Only about half of the album, I then switched to “Crowded House” the self titled album for 3 or 4 songs. I finally settled on all songs by “Chevelle”

I exercised to “Fine Young Cannibals” the album “The Raw & The Cooked”, then a portion of “Dire Straits” the album “Brother in Arms”

I watch some sports. Mostly Toronto Blue Jays baseball & the Canadian Football League. Never the NFL/National Football League, the NBA/National Basketball League & very little NHL/National Hockey League. The NHL, for me, has gone on a steady decline since the mid ’90s when the New Jersey Devils created the neutral zone trap, a fancy word for a style of defense. Ever since that time & whatever commissioner Gary Bettman has done to the game, just sucks. It’s all about fist fighting and really hard body checking. I think I could count on one hand, maybe 2, the amount of periods of NHL I’ve watched since the recent strike/lockout. Parts of games, never an entire game.

They’re doing this shoot out thing now after 1 period of overtime. I don’t get that at all, it’s just like watching the skills competition at the All-Star break. If they did the same thing in baseball it would be like the home run derby the day before the All-Star game. 1 pitcher, 1 back catcher & pick 3 or 4 hitters from the other team. No defense at all. If it’s not a home run, it’s a strike. 3 batters in the top & bottom of one inning. Now that would be BORING!!

I miss hockey from the 1980s & the 1990s. Play however many sudden death periods of overtime until someone scores. Sure it takes longer, but that’s more exciting to me. Maybe the game goes until midnight, oh well? If a professional athlete is making $100,000-$12,000,000 a year they should earn their paycheck. Overtime isn’t an everyday occurrence in the NHL. Tie games in baseball don’t happen during the regular season or the playoffs they play until someone wins!

And that’s why I don’t watch much hockey at all. Most of the NHL I watch is because it’s on a TV at a bar or restaurant right in front of my face.

I felt like yesterday should have been Friday, probably because I’ve been doing more exercise.

Yes, we didn’t go walking this. We’re both tired at the end of the day. So we’ve made a schedule to go walking twice a week, & for me to use the recumbent exercise bike for 45 minutes or more once a week. The squats make a huge difference though. I’ve been doing those all week.

Pre-order on this Friday. Album release April 29th.

I exercised first to “Counting Crows” the album “Recovering the Satellites”

Apple shares are going down & Microsoft shares are going up. However an Apple share is double of a Microsoft share.

“No matter what you dream, you can do it” – a bio-pic about Steve Jobs played by Ashton Kutcher, a marketer for Apple said the quote above. I’ve been told this by my parents my entire life & it’s really good advice.

I think Apple as company stopped this way of thinking when Steve Jobs passed? The companies stock is on a downward slope at the moment, probably because they continue to aggravate their customers, likely a large percentage of the world. Face it, you own at least one thing made by Apple. An iPod, iPhone, iPad, an iMac. Mac laptop or desk top, or iTunes is on most computers. I’m not a fan of Apple, but I have an iPod & use iTunes at least twice a week, renting a movie or checking out an album. “No matter what you dream, you can do it”, unless it’s a 160gb iPod classic. Which will be replaced with a more expensive iPod touch with less memory, but additional features most people have or don’t want. I guess Steve Wozniak isn’t the thinker like his good friend Steve Jobs was? I’m not calling Mr. Wozniak stupid at all! I’m saying he doesn’t think the way that Steve Jobs did. Steve Wozniak is great at creating technological advancements, just not at marketing or listening to what consumers want/need.

It’s sort of like dangling a donut in front of anyone “You want it? Here it is!!!! No, now you can’t have it”. If I was tech savvy I’d do it myself, but unfortunately I’m not.

I fell asleep to “Megadeth” the new album “Dystopia” got up to pee in the middle of the night & fell asleep to “Lamb of God” the album “Strum Und Drang”

I exercised to “Foo Fighters” the rock side of the double album “In Your Honor”

I ended up doing some exercise yesterday, not much though.

Apple is on a steady decline. Steve Jobs died & ever since Apple as a company has made a comedy of errors. Even my iTunes doubled a CD we bought? How the heck does that happen? Since Apple launched it’s streaming service, iTunes has become a joke & before that they discontinued the iPod classic. My iPod is nearing death everyday, since I use it quite a bit. When it dies I have the option of paying for an iPod touch. Less gbs 160 down to 128, touch screen, which I don’t like (also the reason I have a kindle instead of an iPad) I’ll be paying for crap I don’t want. All I want is a music player, I wonder if I can find a Disc man? My music mostly comes from iTunes, but they have enough of my money & it’s not going to the people that create the music I listen to.

I’m not sold on anything involving a touch screen, camera, or apps. All I want is an MP3 player. Apple thinks they’re doing us a favour. I disagree! We don’t have as many options as we used to have. We could choose if we wanted an iPhone, iPad, iMac, iPod touch, an actual book, an actual board game. Now if you need/want something you have to buy this certain app, great I don’t want or need it, but thanks for not giving me an option! Call me old school, but I’ve had enough. One day Apple will win & everything will be on the internet & they’ll laugh at us since we sit on our butts & buy crap online at home. Stuff we don’t need but it’s so cheap & convenient, click a button & the next day someone will deliver your above ground pool, that costs $50, to your 3rd floor apartment, that you bought online with your fingers on your $400 iPad. Why? Sorry for the rant, but that’s just my take on this subject.

I really like this album!!!!!

It’s not that rare to fans of Foo Fighters? When Foo Fighters began touring before the release of anything, they would shout for Dave Grohl to sing this Nirvana B-Side he had sang on with Nirvana. Eventually it made it on a Foo Fighters album. The live acoustic album “Skin & Bones”

Ian Fletcher Thornley live! “How long”

New tune from “Highly Suspect” not on their album. I can’t say much for this song, their first album is great, it was nominated for a Grammy this year for best rock album!

Straight from the Facebook page of Alter Bridge

“ABV preproduction/writing is complete and all of us are super excited about all the songs and the next few years ahead of us in support of this record! Flip starts tracking drums on March 4 and bass starts on the 15th. Here we go!”

“Just spoke to Mark. He is very excited to have finished preproduction. Flip begins tracking all 14 songs this week! The new album is coming!”

^^If that’s what you got from their last album, I’m psyched for this new one!!!!!!

It’s a HUGE Beatles song & it’s Dave Grohl! How could he screw it up?

16 years ago Smashing Pumpkins released “Machina/The Machines of God”

I couldn’t choose but I know “Ace of Spades” & “Hell Raiser” would be my top 2.

That’s another one down. How many until Axl’s happy?

You’d think someone like Ian Fletcher Thornley would know better than to do a different version of a song that he released with Big Wreck 19 years ago?

Nirvana’s last show in 1994. I don’t remember seeing this news two years go? From March 1st 1994.

I guess Edwin’s back with I Mother Earth. I think most fans were really looking forward to see Brian, I know I’m not the only one! At least they’re touring & Edwin did sing on this album & tour.
