Welcome back to the program!  You’re here so if you like what you see, might as well subscribe?  Either on Facebook or with your email in the bottom right corner, it’s really that easy & it’s free!  I know you want to tell your friends, go ahead!

I’m not done telling my story.  I think at the very least need to say thank you for reading my ramblings on this website.  I want to tell my story & know that at least one person enjoys this content.  I’d likely write this anyway, but it’s nice to know people are reading this & that I’m not just doing it for myself.  Thank you for your time.

I will say that putting myself & my story out for all to see does make me feel as though I’m being judged at times.  I’m well aware I’m not perfect & can be an asshole.  I’m evolving & you’re watching it in real time.  My flaws are not what define me, my effort to change my flaws is what I want to be judged on.  With that being said I can’t tell you how you choose to judge me or not judge me.  I think everyone deserves their own opinion.  I may not agree or like the opinion, but I do think everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I have judged others poorly in the past and that is based on MY interpretation of that person and however many times I’ve interacted with that person.  We’re all different which is often a blessing but can also be a curse.  I’m not here to intentionally harm anyone EVER.  I want this website to be a safe place for people.  Any form of social media should be in my opinion.

I never assume I’m the smartest person in the room.  I do have a thirst for knowledge, probably more so now than ever before.  I do joke around a lot and rarely take myself seriously.  If anyone was to offend a friend or family member of mine then I would retaliate, verbally.  I can joke around & I can take a joke, any effort to offend me takes a LOT of work, but once that line’s crossed you’ll wish you hadn’t gone that far.

In the end, I’m loyal and never one to seek out confrontation.  I was quite young, probably around 11 years old.  I was at a Saskatchewan Roughriders game with my parents I think.  For a bit it was just me & my mother, I assume my father was getting food or something.  A fan behind us began shouting foul language towards the field.  My mother didn’t like it.  After 5 minutes that felt like an hour, I at 11ish years old shouted back.  “HEY!  ENOUGH WITH THE LANGUAGE”, or something like that.  The person apologized and realized we we’re bothered by it.  Nothing else was said, it was done & over with.

Foul language doesn’t bother me, unless it’s used with the intent of demeaning someone.  Those that know me are typically aware of all of this and I don’t like that I have to state this since it is common knowledge for the most part.  If you know me, you should know this already.  I guess somewhere along the way some people may have thought of me differently.  It’s their opinion, but it’s my error since it’s based on my words.

It’s the holiday season of 2020 which, as a year, just keeps dishing out whatever it’s got left to hurl at the human race & the climate.  This will be a VERY odd holiday season to say the least & I apologize if reading my story has made it more troubling for anyone?

Well crap!  It’s still only November…ugh.  Even I started to feel overwhelmed with the Covid restrictions this weekend.  It’s not like I had big plans to go out & about but it’d be nice to do something?  With this virus & so many restrictions, including mandatory masks in public for the province of Saskatchewan I will say this in all seriousness.  I don’t venture out of our condo much on a normal day.  In 2020, if I do I follow the rules & wear a mask.  If I’m within 6 feet of someone that’s not wearing a mask I will politely ask them to move REALLY far away if I’m in a rush.  I’ll ask them once politely.  If they choose not to move, there will a problem & I will likely role away, have a very disappointed face or voice my disappointment to them.  “Wear a mask or (potentially) feel my wrath”.  See I add (potentially) & it throws of the rhyming scheme.

There was a news story on Facebook that Geraldo Rivera, a Trump supporter, said that he thinks the vaccine for the virus currently showing promise should be called “The Trump”.  It was on a public platform and I stated “I don’t want Trump in me”.  Nobody took that as harming, nor was it intended to be.  I don’t want to be a dark cloud on a sunny day.  I’m also not about to hide who I am because someone might take it the wrong way.

In other news my brother has managed to sell my 3 guitar effect pedals for me.  I will send the money acquired from those & Christmas gift money on Kim’s side of the family to Kim’s friend’s family in need after a life altering incident.  I like that I can help, but I don’t like to hear about this type of situation occurring, it just hits to close to home for me, even though it’s not cancer related.  As of my writing this they’re still just over $23,000 short of their goal.

We’ll NEVER be in debt because of a luxurious purchase.  We save for personal items, but there are many other things that must come first, mortgage, bills, groceries, medical expenses, retirement savings, etc.  When that’s taken care of then we allow ourselves nice things.  Kim bought cross-country skis on Saturday & used them on Sunday.  When she bought them on Saturday, she was unaware that the store would charge extra for labour, bindings, & waxing the skis.  She was really worried since it was $200-$300 more than she was expecting.  I told her “If it’s going to hurt us, we always have money I’ve been saving for a guitar.  Take whatever you need from that account.  I’ll get a cheaper guitar if needed or no guitar anytime soon.  You’re supposed to enjoy something!”  She never gets anything special for herself, & its way past time she did.  She had fun skiing in the park with a few friends, everyone should be able to have some fun.

For those in Saskatchewan here’s a nice warm non-alcoholic beverage I recommend over the winter.  I needed something different than water all day every day.  Kim found some AMAZINGLY good Saskatoon berry tea in the grocery store.  I now have a cup of that in the afternoon.  No sugar or cream needed and no sugar added.  I’m guessing she found it a Co-op groceries?

Foo Fighters take a look back at the last 25 years.  LANGUAGE!!!

Not much new music being released this year.  I can’t stop listening to the “Nothing but Thieves” album ‘Moral Panic’.  Even Kim told me the other day “You listen to this a lot”.

Album version…

Orchestral version now available as a single.  Recorded at Abbey Road studio…

Along with ‘Moral Panic’ I’ve been listening to the new “Sevendust” album ‘Blood & Stone’ quite a bit.  I’ve never been a HUGE fan of Sevendust, but this latest album really caught me off guard!

Yep, they covered “Soundgarden” on this album.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Welcome back to the program!  You’re here so if you like what you see, might as well subscribe?  Either on Facebook or with your email in the bottom right corner, it’s really that easy & it’s free!  I know you want to tell your friends, go ahead!

Exercise total for 5 days.

500 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

300 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

900 Crunches

900 Leg lifts

300 Squats

450 Back flexes

1:05 hour of yoga over 2 days

I hate doing my exercise before I do them.  Once they’re done, I have a totally different attitude.  Usually around noon I shower and end up having the rest of the day to play guitar while recovering from my exercise earlier.  For me it balances out.  This morning wasn’t bad, get up & get them done!

I watched 1:20 of the “Presidential” debate Tuesday night.  I thought it was beyond sad to see political “Leaders” behaving like undisciplined children.  Biden called Trump a clown…that’s the level of the bar Trump has set for a Presidential nominee.  Trump didn’t call Biden a name during any portion of the debate that I saw.  Trump has often, if not always, called Biden “Sleepy Joe”.  Great….playground insults from politicians seeking election.  It comes down to 2 old white men acting like kids.  I’m not a parent or mature for that matter but I know that name calling is wrong and it won’t help either candidate in the long run.  I also know that I’m a Canadian living in Canada and I don’t get to vote.  I’m geographically closer to the “Divided States of America” than Russia, somehow Trump has encouraged Russia & the Ukraine into rigging the election for him to win while Trump slapped tarriffs on Canadian aluminum.  Yeah, ‘cause Canada’s a big threat to America & it’s democracy!  Sadest moment of the debate for me was when Trump couldn’t “condemn the proud boys” after a VERY simple question to do so.

I turned on my computron the next day after the debate and just went “NO”!  It was just a sad display of the current disregard EVERYTHING culture that is unfortunately all around us.  What did I learn from the debate?  Nothing!  Trump is still Trump, he bullied/interrupted as much as possible & Biden stooped to his level.  Trump did EXTREMELY bad & Biden did just slightly better.  Overall it was just sad.

If Biden wins there will be a civil war in the USA.  If Trump wins America will say goodbye to democracy & some American citizens will likely move to other countries to avoid Donald Trump & (a probable) WWIII on American soil.

You can make a case that either of the 2 won the debate, spin it the way you want.  I pay more in Canada for things, other than health care, but I don’t have to choose between Trump & Biden.

To expand on an issue from Tuesday’s post. I saw a video of an obviously Repubican supporter, which is OK with me, whatever political party you align with is fine.  I may not agree with that choice but I agree that you should have a choice.  Anyways, the person was going on about how Ellen Degeneres’ opening monologue/apology for the new season was terrible & fake as she addressed the off season investigations into the accusations of sezual assault on set over the years.  At least she apologized & addressed them respectfully.  What has Donald Trump done when faced with any accussations?  Lied, disregarded, pointed a finger, & denied any wrong doing on his part after how many accusations?  Tell me how Ellen’s apology is worse than the President’s dismissal?

Like either of these responses or not.  They’re in the past & can not be changed.  Seems like the cool thing to do now is jump to conclusions about anyone regarding their past.  So if that’s how people are judged, what’s the point in changing?  I’m different than I was a month ago but I guess that doesn’t matter?  When I meet a person for the first time, or any time for that matter, & ask “Have you ever acted in an innapropriate way in the past?”  The answer will probably be yes.  Nobody’s perfect 24/7?

I’ve decided to go with this cut.  The traditional PRS cut, well an exact replica of this guitar below.

I still plan on getting this amplifier or something similar in this price range because of the fact that I can get this sound without blasting the volume!  Yeah I said fact, now nobody cares about facts?  I wonder if anybody will accept the fact that  2+2=4?

Why do I want this guitar stuff now?  I don’t see a pay increase coming my way EVER but I know there is a VERY strong possibility of inflation in the market!  Might as well get it now & use it instead of waiting 20 years when we’ll have likely the same amount money and everything will cost more.

People, Kim included, keep telling me I’ll want another guitar or some piece of guitar gear.  If I want another big purchase there are numerous things that MUST happen before that.  First & always first, our health.  Kim’s, Brewter’s, & mine.  The guitar I’m saving for.  A house or renovating/remodeling this place if there is no house to be found or if the condo doesn’t sell.  The amplifier or something VERY similar.  I don’t want to go full on digital but I like the options that come with this hybrid of digital & analogue.  Once EVERYTHING is covered & if something else doesn’t pop up.  I’ll decide if I want something & it won’t be an expensive brand name unless it’s a $120 guitar pedal.  It could be a guitar, if it is it’ll be an import (cheaper) guitar under $500.  I have an idea of where I’d look but not a clue as far as what I’d want.  As far as an amplifier & effect pedals go.  I’ll always have 1 amplifier & I like to keep my effect pedals at a minimum.  Right now I have a tuner, phaser, & a delay pedal.  Stuff an amplifier & guitar can’t do.  I’d like to have bought the amplifier & footswitch when I started to play again a year ago, but there are no certainties in life.

Once I’ve saved enough for the guitar, I should have enough in the bank by the end of May, I’ll hold off on saving for the amplifier & footswitch until early 2022.  The PRS S2 line is definetely the top price I’d pay for a guitar.  It’s a substantial amount below $3000.  An S2 is pretty, feels great, & is remarkably more resonant & louder than most, if not all of the other guitars I own.  Once I get the other S2 PRS, I’m done with high end/boutique guitars.  A Core PRS or a Gibson, are both HIGHLY overpriced for what you get in return, in my opinion.  Even a lowest end PRS SE is $1000 + tax in Canada & out of my price range after the S2.  I’ve also heard a mixed bag of results from Harley Benton guitars.  Very affordable guitars but quality can be great or terrible on any type of Harley Benton model.

During that time we’ll be house hunting (I hope we can sell this condo and find a house without losing $10,000) & if we can’t sell the place we’ll be remodelling our suite.  I really don’t like that we own a suite, we pay the mortgage but so many other people in this building get to make up whatever rules they want.  We’re also cramped for space now.

It’s nuisance now!  I binged & purged stuff last year, we’re doing it again right now & there’s no extra space here even with our storage unit (9’ X 3’) 95% full including a 3 level shelf on wheels full of stuff.

Oh yeah, & we don’t have a spare bedroom either.  Nice area, nice place but NOBODY wants to have to put in ANY work to make it their own, apparently paint & furniture was a no go for viewers last time!

I know we’re going to have to do some renovations to a new place but good grief if anyone has to make changes here!

I assume you weren’t watching but the Toronto Blue Jays season & short lived playoff series is done as of Wednesday afternoon.

I half woke up this morning singing, & I use the term singing litely, Layla by Eric Clapton.  The tempo of his unplugged version but the electric guitar version.  At least I pick a variety of songs to sing in my sleep.  It wasn’t Kokomo by the Beach Boys like it was 5 or 6 years ago?

To be clear about this, I don’t have a home studio.  I have no camera, cell phone, or audio recording device.  If I come up with a good sounding guitar line, I play it many times to remember it.  “The Beatles” only recorded stuff if they could remember it the next day, so I kind of operate the same way…I just don’t sound like The Beatles.  Any photos or videos on here or Facebook are courtesy of Kim & her cell phone.

I was missing a sleeping pill last night.  I take 2 different pills, one to make me fall asleep faster than my typical 3 or 4 hours of tossing & turning in bed.  The other keeps me asleep.  We missed getting a refill yesterday on the pill that keeps me asleep.  I woke up close to 3:00 am & finally decided to give up on trying to fall asleep at 5:00 am & got up to do my exercises.

My guitar came in Tuesday afternoon.  First impressions, DAMN it’s pretty!  I’ve honestly never played a guitar right out of the box that needs no adjustment.  I tuned it and it was ready to go.  Even just the tuning buttons were INCREDIBLY smooth.  I had HIGH expectations for it, & the S2 PRS greatly exceeded them!

Luckily I missed recording the baseball game Tuesday evening.  I caught the last 2 innings since I was busy playing my new guitar.  After my exercises are done & I’ve showered, I play it all of the time.

I was just about to play guitar after my shower on Tuesday & figured I should check my email.  I had an email confirming my guitar was in & ready for me to pick up.  My brother picked me up & we went to the store.  I tuned it & I’ve been playing it as much as possible since.  Playing it (unplugged) even while watching Blue Jays baseball in the evening.  I hate having to stop playing it!  I wish you could see it in person, the photo just doesn’t compare.

I’ve played 3 guitars in my life that made me think “Why aren’t all guitars made this way?”  My friend’s hollow body Gretsch guitar in the summer, my Epiphone 7 string that Kim got me for my 40th birthday at the end of January, & my new PRS S2.  The hype is real!!!!!

…and now I’d like to introduce you to “Sunny”!  PRS S2 Semi-hollow Custom.

Having this PRS S2 Custom 22 only solidifies my desire for the S2 McCarty 594.  Last guitar purchase, followed by that amplifier & footswitch.

https://www.long-mcquade.com/154076/Guitars/Guitar-Amps/Boss/Katana-50-MkII-Combo-Amplifier.htm

https://www.long-mcquade.com/12567/Guitars/Guitar_Effects/Boss/FS-6_-_Dual_Footswitch.htm

If you care to watch.  These are the different bridges they use on guitars at PRS, as shown by Paul Reed Smith.  Sunny has a tremolo bridge, and the one I plan to order has a 2 piece stop tail bridge.

If we find a house next year, the amplifier & footswitch are put on hold.  Well come June 1st of 2021 EVERYTHING stops for the hope of finding a house!  The amplifier & footswitch will have to wait.

If I ever got my hands on a Core Tremonti PRS with a HUGE (90% off) discount, that would be hard to pass up.  This S2 PRS is beautiful.  I’m over the moon with everything on this guitar!  Here’s that SUPER nice Mark Tremonti Core PRS, not in the typical black.

A Core PRS goes for $3,800 US, which is $6,574 + tax in Canada.  I used to say $5000 was my limit for a guitar, not anymore.  It’s far less than that or even the USA price for Core model, I just paid my limit for a guitar.  The final order is less expensive than what I have, it’s still very close to my limit.

“Sunny” is a lower priced S2 PRS guitar.  The quality is unmatched to any guitar I’ve ever played.  The downside & the upside of it is that we paid a lot for it & it REALLY impresses me.  So it’s VERY nice but it does have a large price tag.  One more S2 and I’m literally spent!

I do watch some TV other than baseball.  The Ellen Degeneres Show, A Late Show with Stephen Colbert, & about 3 other scripted shows that aren’t on TV right now.  Prodigal Son, The Resident, & Mom.  No matter what show I’m watching, there’s a guitar in my hands!

GO DR. FAUCI GO!

Why is Donald Trump EVERYWHERE?  If Biden wins the election, things could get messy when he moves into the White House.

This week I’ve been playing stuff I know the basic chord progression of while making it more distinct playing lead stuff instead on the new guitar “Sunny”.

I’ve been listening to a 20th anniversary reissue of the first self-titled Into Eternity album that I got on CD.  “Into Eternity” describe themselves as extreme progressive metal.  I think of them as death metal meets the harmonies of “Queen”, that’s HIGH-PRAISE in my books.  Good luck finding a CD other than through the Regina based band that until recently only had the files for the album.  Into Eternity are the Regina heroes that are still underground despite having toured or played with big name acts such as “Motorhead”, “Megadeth”, “Lamb of God”, “Opeth” & I believe “Dream Theater”.  I thik it was last year or 2018 they released their 6th studio album.  The last 5 albums should be available everywhere.  I bought 3 of them at HMV when it was open & managed to get the 6th album on amazon where you can find all of their albums now!

Welcome back to the program!  You’re here so if you like what you see, might as well subscribe?  Either on Facebook or with your email in the bottom right corner, it’s really that easy & it’s free!  I know you want to tell your friends, go ahead!

I played guitar for almost exactly 7 years before I had cancer.  I didn’t go right back to the songs I knew before or most of the songs I played/sang live.  I can’t sing like I used to be able to.  I can’t sing at all really.  Before when I was playing & singing I played rhythm/chords.  Now after cancer I chose mostly songs with a dominant lead guitar part.  That’s what I’m learning now.  I’m learning more lead guitar stuff that I’ve never played before.

I chose either songs I’ve never bothered to try & a few songs that I learned in my 6th & 7th year of playing.  I wanted to challenge myself instead of playing the same old 4 chords & the main riff to the song.  I figured what I play should be distinct to a particular song.  Gets me out of my comfort zone.

“YES” this is the amplifier for me!  This is a gain setting at 0.5 Watts.  Everything I’m looking for & more!

I don’t think I’m that excited about an amplifier, but it’s all I hoped it would be, with all of my research.  I’ll still have to wait until September to get it.  Gotta buy/order my last guitar by early February since I know it will take 3-15 months to get here.  Of course if we find a house the amplifier will have to wait.

If everything goes as planned, this will be ordered in February & hopefully we find a house shortly after?!

Same company in Stevensville, Maryland, USA as the guitar that should be here soon.

I think PRS just hit that peak where they’re now in the top 3 as far as guitar brands go.  I think between the USA factory & the one I Indonesia, they have 300 employees?  There’s no assembly line either.

I think the biggest wild card for us right now is Brewster’s health.  He seems to be fine right now.  He’ll cough like a smoker 2 or 3 times a day & he sleeps a LOT, but he still seems pretty happy & runs the show here.  He can’t hear me when I’m within inches behind him trying to get him to move so I don’t roll my wheels over him.  He can hear the microwave from inside our bedroom & around the corner though!  “Hark, my human is eating, I’ll have to investigate!”  I can’t eat anything without him sitting right beside me.

Whenever we see the vet for a checkup I always ask if he’s in pain, I don’t want to have the little guy suffer at all.  He’ll be 15 on January 31st, the day after my birthday.

As long as Brewster is OK, a house is at the top of our list.  Other than the seemingly impossibility of selling a condo in Regina, our problem is finding anything remotely wheelchair accessible within our price range.  I looked again at the website for houses in our price range & nada, zippo, zero, nothing.  Of course now that were being picky there’s nothing out there?

As far as my cancer goes, I’m good.  Got some refills on the weekend, I was out of a sleeping pill so I needed more of those.  I see my psychiatrist in October for a regular visit.  I also have another MRI in November, only about 30 minutes long.  There is a cyst in my back, it’s been there from the beginning.  New doctor taking over my case, so she just wanted to look at it closer.  Nothing to worry about though.

When I saw her last time, she asked how my fine motor skills were, such as writing & eating.  I told her all of that was OK and that I play guitar.  She was glad to hear my hands were in good shape & that the guitar playing was a good way to exercise those small muscles.  Makes me wonder if I can claim my guitar spending on my taxes as physiotherapy equipment?  HAHAHAHAHA!  No new guitar so far.  They said by the end of September at the earliest.  I’m getting anxious!

If I ever had $5500ish burning a hole in my pocket, this finish on a Core Tremonti PRS is pretty!  I’d get a Core McCarty 594 instead of the S2 I plan to order in February.  Nice to dream.

Kim had a headache & her stomach was sore on Sunday.  I didn’t get to see the Jays game until about 10:00 pm.  I ended up fast forwarding & rewinding bits of it just to see the highlights.  I slept in until 9:00 am on Monday and got my exercises done ASAP.  Regular season baseball ends on Sunday.

I did it 4 times this week.  I call it click bait.  I opened 4 Donald Trump videos on www.youtube.com.  I didn’t bother to watch them all the way through.  He honestly holds zero shock value for me & thank goodness he’s not Canadian!

October 16th, a new album is out that day from The Struts.  Here’s one of the 2 singles released so far.

This Foo Fighters song I used to play in private & it’s coming along nicely.  Verse portion is not bad, haven’t added the chorus part yet.

These 2 are just a little sloppy still.

Ended up playing a TON of Big Wreck over the weekend.

Brewster seems to be doing better these days.  He’ll be 15 on January 31st.  He’s taking his pills all of the time now.  Kim bought “Pill Pockets” for him.  He’s a BIG fan of Kim’s beef barley soup over his dry food.  He loves bite size chuncks of watermelon that he eats with me at lunch.  He eats about ¼ of my fish at lunch.  He’s been fairly active this week too.

I’m not sure why but I’ve felt a bit slugish all week.  I did my exercises other than on Monday, and I made them count, no weak effort here.  I don’t know if it’s because I had an alcoholic beverage on the weekend or if my body just feels old?  I got out of bed the other day & almost took cover.  Everything was popping & cracking, I thought someone had a machine gun.  This morning I was up at 7:15 am, had my 5 minute breakfast of 2 hard boiled eggs & a glass of vegetable juice.  Then I got after my exercises.  I did my squats first & wanted to “cry” my legs just hurt, had to take an extended breather.

Peeked out the window Wednesday morning and the smoke from the wildfires seems to have cleared.  I hope all is well on the west coast.

Kim went to the condo meeting Tuesday evening.  After a vote of 28-7 on the pet agenda, visiting pets are once again allowed in the building.  Living in a condo feels like living under multiple dictators within a democracy outside.  Kim needed to vent a bit after the meeting.  I guess someone at the meeting had an issue with EVERYTHING…and that’s why the meeting was an hour long!

It’s not even spring of 2021 & I’m already stressing out about finding a house next year!  The stars have to align perfectly for us.  I guess the toughest part will be selling our condo.  Far too many new, vacant condos available at ½ the price.  If we do find a buyer for this place & a house within a month, I’m almost positive we’ll lose money.  I shouldn’t stress until we actually put our place on the market in the spring.

Any guitars you see on here are never going to be purchased.  It’s just me widow shopping.  I’m VERY excited with my choices & they’ve been heavily researched. I’m holding out for a call or email next week or the week after telling me the guitar I ordered in January is here!  Cross your “fingers and toes” for me!  If it’s not here next week or by the end of September, I guess I’ll just keep waiting.  It’s been an odd year to say the least!  It should be here “Any day now”.  A house is a must for us!  No big purchases by either of us until we find a house or end up renovating our suite.

S2 Custom 22 Semi-Hollow Body Guitar w/Gig Bag - McCarty Sunburst

So now that Donald Trump has been caught on tape in February admitting he’s downplaying Covid-19 to avoid a panic, everybodies a “stable genius” and refuse to wear masks now?  People have very little respect for others & it’s getting worse all of the time.

https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/you-are-a-sheep-video-shows-anti-masker-mocking-calgary-fabricland-staff-customers-1.5106572?fbclid=IwAR2u5poGnjlA6x30igw98ul1aKkD5L1O2o4sFvpIXgZgd9TJ1qPX9JhPey4

If wearing a mask is too difficult for some people, I have a solution!  You don’t have to put on any other clothes, just a mask over your mouth and nose.  You’ll actually be wearing less clothing & if you want more clothing it must be in mask form, any size, anywhere & we’ll get you a set of markers so you can make them any colour you want.  You’ll look just as ridiculous as you did not wearing a mask in the first place!  You’re welcome!  J

You can wear a mask or suffer the wrath of Red Forman.

There are 3 WILDLY EXPENSIVE “never going to happen” guitars I’d like to own.

https://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/mark_tremonti_signature_2020  Super expensive Core model PRS.  Mark Tremonti signature.

https://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/pauls_guitar_2020

Another super expensive Core model PRS.  Paul Reed Smith’s signature.

https://www.long-mcquade.com/51280/Guitars/Electric/Gibson/Dave_Grohl_ES-335_Ltd_Edition_-_Pelham_Blue.htm

An even more expensive Dave Grohl 335 Gibson.  I think these retail at $12,000 US?  If you can find one.  I’m pretty sure I’m done buying guitars.

YAY, new season on Disney+ starting October 30th.  One of the few streaming shows I watch “The Mandalorian”

New video from Alter Bridge this week.  Seeing them live is near the top of my bucket list.  This is the band that Mark Tremonti plays for.  For me, Mark Tremonti & singer/guitarist, Myles Kennedy, are top notch!  I easily have 4 favourite bands now.  Foo Fighters, Big Wreck, Tool, & Alter Bridge.  Foo Fighters since 1997 & Big Wreck when I was of legal bar age & saw the live in 1999!  Alter Bridge had me hooked since I heard their first single in 2004.  Tool was persistent & eventually got me hooked on their 1999 release “Lateralus”.

I googled a bunch of songs to learn on the 7 string & they’re all metal songs, this could take a while 3 down with a LOT to go.

Double Header baseball today.  I’ll be parked on the couch with my acoustic guitar practicing this as I did last night.

I’ll likely be playing/practicing an assortment of other forbiden songs a guitarist shouldn’t play.  Stuff I know but haven’t bothered to work on.

I woke up late on Monday & I was sore & stiff.  I didn’t do my exercise, I just stretched for an hour before I turned on my computron.  Nothing is done on the interweb until I’ve had breakfast & exercised.  Wasted a day.

Today I got up on time.  Totally half asleep until I got roughly half way through my exercises.  Feeling much better & energized today!

I turned on the Canadian National news channel.  Covid numbers are on the rise, Donald Trump is pretty much encouraging vigilante justice on any protest, there are hurricanes on the East coast, & now the West coast is dealing with wild fires.  If I lived in the USA, I’m pretty sure I’d take 2 mental health days a week.  Yet I think it was a month or 2 ago that Stephen Colbert showed a poll of Americans 72% said that what’s going on is terrible while 28% thought everything was fine.  That’s an odd 28%.

I’m done buying guitars once I order the one in February.  We’re not suited for condo life.  A house or whatever Kim wants in the meantime.  Kim wants an attached garage so she doesn’t have to drag my wheelchair through the snow.  It has to be wheelchair accessible.  I’d prefer a finished basement & an easily accessible deck or patio in the backyard.  2 bathrooms, 2 or 3 bedrooms & hopefully delightful surprises of a bedroom & bathroom in the basement.  I can’t really help with renovations, although we’re sure some will be needed.

I look at guitars online for fun with zero intention of purchasing another until we are comfortable in a house, probably not even then?  If I wanted another guitar I’d have to play the 1 coming to me & the one I hope to order in February (both for a long time) to find out what I’d want or I’d have to be making money with my guitars?

I royally embarrassed myself on the weekend.  My brother, very laid back, brought over his new amplifier so I could hear it and he could try my guitars.  He got it all set up, grabbed a guitar and played through his amp.  He’s has always been a MUCH better player than me.  He handed me the guitar & I literally said out loud “What do I know?” I froze, I was clueless & then I played like crap.  I’m pretty sure he didn’t care that much, if at all.  I thought what I played was terrible & embarrassing.  I spent 4 years, if not more, rehearsing & playing live with him, but I choked in my house in front of my brother. All I can say is anxiety sucks!  I know that next time it will be much better, I know I can relax around any family members.

Kim & I did some math on the weekend regarding my RDSP (Retirement Disability Savings Plan).  Money will be tight until my amplifier & guitar are paid for, but afterwards we’ll have a little more room to breathe.  I have no plans at all in getting another guitar.  Our bank account agrees with me on this decision.

I’m glad I saw this review/demo of an Evertune guitar bridge.  I didn’t know what they were or why they’re such a big deal.  Now that I know what the purpose is, I’m glad I don’t/won’t own one.  Takes the fun/skill out of playing guitar if you ask me.

Saturday evening I actually felt relaxed for the first time in months or even years.  It was 10:00 pm, Kim & Brewster were in bed.  I had a rum on the rocks & watched a Blue Jays game in the dark.  I can’t remember the last time I felt that calm.  Seems that I’m always worried about what’s around the corner or what we’re gonna do at this point in the future.  It finally felt like I could just let go for a while.

A lazy fall Sunday!  Watched an afternoon baseball game while Kim was making beef barley soup.  Went for a drive to get out of the house, had soup for supper.  Played guitar, watched TV and called it day.

Learned this 1st one on Sunday night.  2nd one just kinda happened over the week, & I’m still kinda working on the switching to the important parts where 1 of 5 guitars stands out for a bit on this 3rd song.

Ended up just messing around in different tunings & figured out these riffs…

For some reason I usually finish up a few hours playing guitar with this song?

I made the mistake of watching American & Canadian news this weekend.  I’m better off just going to website above for Covid info.  Both types of news told me a bit about Covid, whatever Trump did, & on the Canadian news a little bit of Canadian politics.

I’m a little disappointed in the lack of humanity in some individuals.  When this global pandemic started everyone, for the most part, was doing what they were told.  Stay inside, practice public distancing, if you choose to have a gathering keep it under 10 people, & wear a mask in public.  In March we were doing well by following these 4 simple rules & the curve was flattening.

Then summer hit and a LOT of people just decided that it was non-sense and couldn’t handle living with 4 additional rules.  Summer is over, so use the fall & winter weather as an excuse for living like we all did in March.

With the fall coming & schools reopening this isn’t going to get any better since flu season comes along with the season change as well.  Maybe the people avoiding the rules haven’t experienced the downside of the pandemic personally?  Well, I hope they don’t have to find out the hard way, but not following those 4 simple rules increases the odds of finding out the hard way.

This has never been an “I’m going to stick it to the man & disobey the rules” situation.  There is no individual to blame for this or for anyone to “stick it to”.  It’s a potentially lethal virus.  That has a better chance of making you & others sick by not following 4 simple rules.

If you want to politicize it, call it a hoax, a conspiracy, or anything else you have the right to do so.  Just know that you’re really letting everybody else down & they’re likely disappointed in you & your lack of humanity.  Celebrities were saying things such as “This will bring the best out of people” & for the most part they were right, but there’s always a few people that “…let you down”

I’ve pretty much been in quarantine for almost 7 years here.  When it started for me in December of 2013 I was grumpy, angry, & depressed.  Somewhere along the way I just gave up on the idea of leaving this building & figured “This is it, this is my life.  I guess I had better figure out how to deal with it.”  I assume many people aren’t there yet.  The sooner everyone figures that out, in a temporary situation, the sooner everyone can return to a “new normal”.  If you’re not a part of the solution, you’re likely a part of the problem.

I REALLY hope we can find a buyer for our condo.  Apparently the board has decided that visitor dogs are not allowed anymore.  We moved here for 3 reasons.  A) It’s a nice desirable area with pretty much every store within a 5 minute drive.  B) It is/was pet friendly.  C)  It was being built when we bought it.  Our suite is made to be wheelchair accessible.

Why do we want to move?  We need more space.  Our storage locker in the underground parking is full.  Kim’s bike was stolen because there is nothing to lock it too & there’s no way it would fit in our storage unit or our suite.  So all of that & the fact that were at least 20 years younger than most people here, & now the condo board is trying to change the pet agenda.  If someone didn’t want to be around pets, why would they move to a pet friendly building?  Kim’s going to board meeting coming up to vote on the pet issue.

I was watching Blue Jays baseball over the weekend & while I was watching the games I always get my acoustic guitar to play while watching TV.  Out of nowhere I started to figure this out.  I don’t remember it all so I looked up the guitar tab.

I figured I used to play it so I might as well relearn it.  I also decided to continue learning this Trivium song instead of something completely new to me…

I didn’t give up on this song, but it will take more time to learn new techniques I’ve never tried or used before.  It’s also mostly a solo all the way through…

I become more certain about this amplifier purchase later next year as I research it…

…and this is version 1 which is no longer available.  I’m looking at version 2 with a few more bells & whistles for $330.  A solid state amplifier that sounds like a $1500 tube amplifier that has to be at a minimum ½ volume to sound good.  This will never be turned to 50 Watts in a condo.  Only in a house, I don’t need to cause any extra drama/gossip in this building.

https://www.long-mcquade.com/154076/Guitars/Guitar-Amps/Boss/Katana-50-MkII-Combo-Amplifier.htm

https://www.long-mcquade.com/12567/Guitars/Guitar_Effects/Boss/FS-6_-_Dual_Footswitch.htm

I’ve always liked the sound of a tube amplifier but I could never justify/afford the price tag & maintenance involved.

Enjoy your music it might dry up?  This is why I don’t like streaming music.  I’ve bought 2 CDs this year & plan to purchase 3-5 more, while buying some stuff on iTunes as well.  The bands I want to hear but don’t listen to often, I will stream!  Unfortunately for me, I am streaming more than I want to while saving money for other purchases.

Exercise total for 5 days.

500 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

300 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

900 Crunches

750 Leg lifts

300 Squats

420 Back flexes

1:20 hour of yoga over 2 days

I just needed a break.  I’m feeling good this week and even upped some of my numbers during my repetitions went up this week.  Just feeling much better physically & mentally.  Muscles are sore but its Friday and it’s a long weekend!  I’ll be good to go next week!  I guess that’s my 2nd full week off this year, I was due.

I can see all of those exercise numbers staying where they are for quite a while.  My left arm is noticeably weaker than my right arm.  I notice it all of the time other than when I’m playing guitar.

I forgot since there are no CFL games this year & I gave up my season tickets.  I used to either take a few cans of food or $20 extra to a game where they have bins out for donations to the food bank.  Kim donated $25 to the food bank earlier this week.  I’m sure we’ll go through our storage unit & donate more clothes this year.

I shouldn’t say we don’t donate.  Kim’s in charge of the money here.  She’ll donate $20 to the legion plus whatever we donate to wear a poppy from November 1st until November 11th.  I always want to give more but we don’t have much more.  I don’t donate since I don’t own a credit card, Kim does from our shared income.  If I was to donate I’d be like Oprah.  “YOU GET $100, YOU GET $100, YOU GET $100, YOU GET $100, etc.”  When I was in the hospital a team of 10 of us raised close to $100,000 4 years for the Canadian Cancer Society.  I’m relatively cheap on most things, if I like what the charity is doing & had a credit card, we’d be seriously in debt FOREVER!

 https://www.youtube.com/embed/pviYWzu0dzk?version=3&rel=1&fs=1&autohide=2&showsearch=0&showinfo=1&iv_load_policy=1&wmode=transparent

Don’t get the idea that we’re going into debt for my hobby.  The guitar coming to me, hopefully sooner than later, is payed for & I’m about half way saved for the 2nd one that I hope to order in February.  Those savings & donating to a few charities won’t sink us.  Other than food, bills, Kim’s clothing, Brewster’s pills & vet bills, music, & guitar maintenance stuff.  We don’t spend money.  Charities often get a donation & if we’re a little tight for cash every once in a while, I just don’t add money to my guitar savings.  Once I get/save enough for my guitar to be ordered & amplifier, I’m done with luxurious purchases for at minimum a decade.

https://www.long-mcquade.com/154076/Guitars/Guitar-Amps/Boss/Katana-50-MkII-Combo-Amplifier.htm

https://www.long-mcquade.com/12567/Guitars/Guitar_Effects/Boss/FS-6_-_Dual_Footswitch.htm

Maybe we’ll find a house next year in our price range?  If we do, the guitar & amplifier get pushed back.  After looking online earlier this week, I’m doubtful, I saw absolutely nothing on the market in our price range in Regina.  Not even something we wouldn’t look at.  I mean zilch, zero, nothing.  We both hope to find a wheelchair accessible house next year.  More than anything that’s easily at the top of our “wish list”.

For the record I’m not getting a Core line PRS, WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!  I have an S2 model on the way here & I’m saving for a different S2.  2nd least expensive type they make other than the SE line from their factory in Indonesia.  Price wise it goes SE, S2, Bolt on necks, Core, Private Stock, & Artists line.

https://www.prsguitars.com/

As of mid-week I started working on 2 other songs along with the other 2.  I was practicing the tremolo picking at the start of the song & Kim obviously didn’t like it.  The door was latched pretty quick.  “THAT’S WHAT YOU GET FOR BUYING ME A 7 STRING GUITAR!  THANK YOU!”

The intro is a little tricky, but it has gotten much better since I’ve been just playing it randomly.

They’re all pretty different.  I can see the Trivium song taking a while & probably the Pearl Jam song since I’ve decided to learn lead guitar.  I’ve never even thought to play lead parts until recently.  I was a singer in a band that learned to play guitar to fill out the sound.  I can say that the Our Lady Peace song is learned & get’s played a lot because it’s fun along with numerous other songs.

I guess “Barstool Prophets” is good music for me to cook to!  I boiled noodles, Kim ran out for an ingredient for the rest of it.

2 back to back Blue Jay games today starting at 2:00 pm & the fridge is full of healthy stuff, condiments, & a little beer.  I’ll have to get rid of a beer or 2 today to free up some space!

Even by Wednesday this week I had some decent energy.  I’m pretty sure those new night time anti-depressants are doing the trick.  Pretty consistent week for getting up by 7:30-8:00 & getting things done.  Might also be that I don’t go to the washroom 4 times a night to pee?  I’m on a medication for my bladder as well.  Before it was a rush to the bathroom & very often.  I still drink 3-5 liters of water a day.  I go to the washroom a lot but not nearly as much & it’s not nearly as urgent.  The downside to my bladder pills is that if I don’t drink enough water, I get dry mouth in a bad way.

I accidentally dropped my new sleeping pill under the bed Wednesday night.  I was far too lazy to look for whatever pill I dropped & went to bed.  I found out the hard way it was my sleeping pill………….awake until shortly after 1:00 am, but out of bed by 7:50 am.

I really don’t like day time baseball games.  One on Wednesday starting at 11:00 am & 2 games on Thursday starting at 11:00 am.  That means I didn’t play my guitar on Thursday & only a small amount on Wednesday.  I just unplug or don’t play after 8:30 pm since were in an apartment style condo.  Just watching TV makes me anxious.  I feel like I should be doing something, I get fidgety after 30 minutes.

Kim called the police yesterday.  She was forwarded to a messaging service for the evidence department.  So no word yet on a retrieval of the bike?  She also doesn’t see the point in getting a new bike this year.  She says she won’t have much time to ride it since she’ll probably put it away come mid-September.

We had a nice visit with our friends from Edmonton Wednesday night.  Haven’t seen them in 2 years & a lot has happened since then!  Good to catch up.  No we didn’t visit here.  Too many seniors in our building, instead my parents were kind enough to let us use their back yard tented patio area to visit outside while distancing.  They picked up their supper, we got ours, had supper & a lengthy chat while Brewster got to be free in the backyard.  Brewster was quite tired.  He didn’t get out of bed until 2:30 pm yesterday when I woke him up as I checked on him.  He moved from our bed to his kennel when we got up in the morning.

I’ve been anxiously waiting for this day.  One of us should get an email later on today letting us know my new guitar is here!  If it gets here today, I’ll be watching baseball tonight while playing it unplugged!  This might call for some rum on the rocks?!?!  I really don’t like playing guitar with any alcohol in my system though.

Strap locks shouldn’t be a big deal on a PRS, apparently the strap buttons are quite large.  I should be getting the beer bottle sealers that we ordered in June this month from amazon.  Then I just need new strings for 3 guitrars here.  I’ve already done my acoustic & my 7 string seems fine for now.  So if I do the other 3 I should be good for quite a while!

From the looks of things the amplifier is looking more & more like it won’t happen,  just so we can pay into my Retirement Disability Savings Plan (RDSP).  I’ve got an amplifier so I’d rather buy the guitar & put money away for when I’m 60.  The amplifier would be really good, but if I have to pick one, it’s this guitar hands down!

I guess there are money issues when you have money (I wouldn’t know personally) & when you don’t?

I thought this would be a fairly straight forward easy song…………OH HOW I WAS WRONG!  Weird tuning, chords I’ve never seen before, layered guitar tracks, & mostly individual notes throughout.  Good song to learn different stuff from though!

I wen’t deeper into the guitar part since I don’t sing anymore.

Constantly playing stuff I’ve learned.

Just started learning this the other day

…& always playing stuff from the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Foo Fighters albums.

Welcome back to the program!  You’re here so if you like what you see, might as well subscribe?  Either on Facebook or with your email in the bottom right corner, it’s really that easy & it’s free!  I know you want to tell your friends, go ahead!

I slept in today, that’s why this is late.  Breakfast, exercise them post a blog, that’s ALWAYS the order things happen.

Exercise total for 5 days.

450 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

300 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

750 Crunches

750 Leg lifts

300 Squats

420 Back flexes

1:00 hour of yoga over 2 days

When I do my curls, it’s pretty easy to tell that my left side is much weaker.  The dumb bell still wobbles side to side quite a bit.  When I bring the weights to my shoulders I really have to focus & control my left arm.  When I play guitar it’s really not an issue.

Well pretty bad way to carry on through August.  I got up & did my exercises ASAP Tuesday morning.  Posted my blog & checked our messages from Monday night, we we’re out for a bit.  I guess I missed an appointment with my psychiatrist Monday afternoon.  I didn’t get the usual reminder/confirmation call on Friday?  My doctor left a message.  I rescheduled for 5:00 pm that day.  After some discussion on what to do with Brewster & some phone tag, things were set in place.

We go to our vehicle in our parking garage only to find that Kim’s brand new bicycle was stolen.  We go to my appointment, all is well.  We come home & chat with our neighbor in the garage.  I guess the break in was Monday night & somehow EVERYBODY knew but us?  She reported her stolen bike to a board member across the hall from us.  Wednesday she got the serial number from where she bought it on May 12th 2020 & reported it to the police.  Financially things were snug before this, now they’re TIGHT!  As per usual with most plans, we’ll have to play it by ear.

Spoke to someone close to us Thursday late afternoon.  HOLY CRAP August sucks!  I can’t talk about it, nobody has been physically injured but it’s unexpected & really not good for that person.  Not my story to tell.

I was checking out my psychiatrist’s ratings online earlier that day.  Weird I know, my psychiatrist has ratings on the internet????  WOW mixed bag of ratings from 0-5 stars.  I’ve never had a problem with him.  Really nice guy, always quite friendly!

So with her new bike being stolen I don’t see this guitar being ordered in the spring.  I’m more than OK with that.  I’ve saved enough money that she can go out & get the same bike if she wants to.  Late Tuesday night, after a few hours of suggesting she use my saved money, she still continued to say “No”.  Wednesday night she budged a bit & finally said “Maybe”.  She wants to look into using our insurance.  If she was right about our insurance, that won’t be the route we take.

https://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/s2_mccarty_594

I’ll be getting a REALLY fancy guitar in a week.  I’ll keep saving either for the guitar or get the MUCH more affordable amplifier & foot switch.  Then leave it at that for quite many years.  I think this is more than fair for me, Kim should just take what I’ve saved all together & keep saving for the camera lens she wants.

What has been VERY welcomed this August?  Kamala Harris running as VP with Joe Biden.  HUGE upside when that was announced!  I’m Canadian so it won’t affect me directly, but hopefully this can calm the USA a bit.

Russia announced that they have a vaccine for the virus.  They also rushed it’s release by skipping over some testing phases.  You take it, I’ll wait a year & see how you’re doing before I think about injecting something that hasn’t been properly tested.

Yeah, this vaccine hasn’t passed all of the phases yet.  It’s still a matter of “if” not “when”.

I learned a TON of scales on the guitar (I didn’t know them before).  Before it was more of “If I put my fingers this way it sounds like this, & I guess that’s called a C chord”.  Now I know the notes & what works within that key!  I’ve been playing my 7 string pretty much all week.  Learning some Trivium.  I’ll finish up “The Heart from Your Hate” today & tidy up a few other songs I used to play & other songs I’ve been playing with on my acoustic while watching baseball.  The most difficult part of learning this song was remembering what part came next & how many times do I repeat that part?

Fingers & arms are good though.  Not nearly as bad as in that video I posted, I got nervous.  Lots of people can play while knowing they’re being filmed, I can’t do anything serious in front of any camera.

This is guitar tabulature.  I’ve been working mostly on the chord part & inserting some of the lead guitar stuff.  I’ve never attempted any lead part really.

Speaking of baseball, the Toronto Blue Jays had Thursday off.  Tonight is the start of them playing every day for 28 days straight.  I’m pretty sure there are 2 days in there that they play 2 games in one day.

I stated at the start of the year that “This is my year”.  I also said in trhe last post that the rest of August will be great.  Well I’ve only stated those things once each.  I think I’ll keep that silent from now on, bad things have happened in that small sampling & I don’t want to test that theory anymore……& now I sound like Donald Trump, SHEESH!

Not a great week.  I see a STRONG Gin & Bubbly tonight while watching the game!
