Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Lamb of God”, “Pink”, & “In Flames”

I was behind Friday night, I recorded the baseball game, we record everything.  So I didn’t get to it until 9:30 pm.  It went into the 12th inning I always record an extra hour & 1/2 just in case this happens.  Final score was whooping 1-0 for the Blue Jays.  I didn’t go to bed until 1:00 am.

Saturday we had a visit from a friend of ours from Edmonton.  She’s going to school there, she’s a year younger than my brother but hasn’t had her birthday yet.  Short visit but a good visit.  I hard boiled eggs & made my veggie juice for the week.  Kim went out with her sister & a mutual friend for manicures.  Kim’s sister turns 40 on Monday.  I’m next in line to turn 40 in our group of friends.  Kim’s birthday is in October, she’ll turn #*.

Today we’re just watching TV.  Kim got groceries this morning & today’s baseball game has just started.

I’ve got “Sum 41” on preorder for a July release.  I’m just waiting on the following albums to be released this year.  Big Wreck, Alter Bridge, Tool, Lamb of God, Anthrax, & I think Pretty Vicious are still to come this year.

Guitarist, Mark Morton (Lamb of God), breaks down their breakout album “Ashes of the Wake” now 15 years old.  I bought the 4 bonus songs & attached it to the original album I have.

We rented the movie “Vice” Saturday night.  It was very interesting, a look behind the scene of Bush Junior’s presidency with Dick Cheney as his vice president.

My take away from this movie is that Cheney made Bush jr. look like a fool.  Cheney said they should attack Iraq for WMDs, not Bush’s idea, this was Cheney’s idea.  The world complained about Bush but he was Cheney’s puppet.  At least that’s what I took away from the movie?  More late night baseball for me Saturday night.

dog’s eye view

Yeah their name is all in lower case letters.  From looking at iTunes, I guess they had 3 albums?  I own the first 2 & the second one isn’t on iTunes it’s called “Daisy”.  Their first album was among my favourites when it was released in 1995.  Think along the style of “Counting Crows” & “Matchbox 20”.  I REALLY like this group but often forget to listen to this album “Happy Nowhere”…..

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

5 day exercise total; 200 pushups, 600 leg lifts, 450 crunches, 100 tricep lifts, 450  squats, 300 back flexes.  Yoga & stretching for just over an hour on Thursday.

I fell asleep to “Iommi” the album “Iommi”

I exercised to “Daron Malakian & the Scars on Broadway” the album “Dictator”

I look at this cancer garbage two ways.  I could sit here, do nothing & complain about having to fix myself or just do my exercises & shut up about it.  I choose the latter.  I can complain about very few other things.  Not the little things I blow out of proportion.  I’m pretty sure I just need to calm down & not try to change anyone.  I could offer a suggestion if they asked.  Other than that I should just email or message people on Facebook to see how they’re doing & reply politely to any question.

I need to stop telling people what to do, & let them live their own life as they choose to.  As I always say “The more I shut my yap & listen, the more I’ll know.”  On the other side of that, don’t ignore people either.  I have just over 300 Facebook friends, yet I talk to mostly the people I see most often through email.  I’m not saying they’re not great people, I’m just saying I don’t reach out to them as much as I should.

Is Tool’s guitarist teasing us with a new song?  Possibly, I’m guessing?

Saw “Avengers: Endgame” last night with my brother.  I’ve always leaned towards the DC comic movies with a dark tone, but I do like both.  It was AWESOME!  Lots of action, really good dialogue including humor.

TRIVIUM

My brother-in-law turned me on to this group.  He heard a single on Much Music’s show “LOUD”, a metal video show that was hanging on by a thread as Much Music began airing more teen television programing.  The singer/guitar player & group founder is about my brother’s age, in his early 30s.  They’ve released 8 studio albums, they’re a very talented band but not every album is a Jem.

In order of release “Ember to Inferno”, “Ascendancy”, “The Crusade”, “Shogun”, “In Waves”, “Vengeance Falls”, “Silence in the Snow”, & “The Sin & the Sentence”.  I’ll give you 2 songs from each of my 4 favourite albums.

2006   ASCENDANCY

2011   IN WAVES

2015   SILENCE IN THE SNOW

2017   THE SIN & THE SENTENCE

You probably don’t care for metal & that’s OK.  I’ve been trying to avoid it on here, but that’s what I listen to most of the time when Kim’s not here.  As for “Trivium” you may not like them but between singing & playing guitar, Matt Heafy makes the impossible look easy, much like James Hetfield of “Metallica”.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

I fell asleep to “Trivium” the album “The Sin & the Sentence”

I exercised to “The Struts” both albums on shuffle.  If you enjoy “Queen”, I highly recommend them, their not as operatic, but slightly more pop instead.

Well, it was back to the grind on Monday.  No sinus cold to hold me back this week.  I’ve decided each Tuesday or Thursday will be yoga & stretching, the other day will be pushups & tricep lifts.  I need to stretch more, & I think the yoga, walking w/ my walker, squats, & leg lifts could all be beneficial to walking w/ my walker on my own.

As for my mental side of things, I don’t want it to be tied to my cancer but it is.  That’s no excuse for how I acted to people on the original link to this blog in 2011 & 2012, or when I blew up on an innocent victim last week.  The stress & frustration are more self-inflicted.  I always think to myself “This is my fault.  I should do more!  I should get better, faster!  Why am I not walking on my own yet?”

As for me being stubborn, that’s genetic through my mother’s side of the family.  I got that stubbornness & multiplied it by infinity.  Everybody else on that side of the family managed to deal with it properly though.  I feel like all through elementary & high school I bent over backwards, to make others comfortable & it doesn’t seem like anyone will bend for me at all, on the flip side of that no one should have to.  I know that’s not true, it’s “In my head”.

People might think I’m a victim or a hero………………….I’m neither of those things, I’m alive.  To those who say I’m “playing” the role of a victim.  I’m alive & I’m thankful for that.  I hope this makes sense, I’m a hero physically if that’s what you want to call me but I’m a victim mentally.  Everybody has the right to call me whatever they like.  “I’m just a little bit caught in the middle.”  I’m a victim mentally & I project it on others unintentionally without even knowing what I said.  I’m a victim, then I make others a victim.  More than enough of that.  I’m truly sorry & I don’t want to attack/hurt/victimize anyone from last week on.

I fell in love with Big Wreck when I turned 19 legal age to be in a bar. That was my first time seeing them. I’m 39 now & I haven’t missed a Big Wreck show in Regina, Saskatchewan ever.  I’ve seen them live at least 12-15 times. They instantly became one of my favourite bands, & still are!  Please help their 2nd guitarist, Brian Doherty, beat cancer by donating to this go fund me site please?

Billy Idol & Bryan Adams tour, American dates only.  I could do with just Bryan Adams, but Billy Idol should be a good show too.  No, I can’t go.  If it’s not here, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Calgary, or Edmonton, I’m out.  Depending on how many other show’s I’ve been to or have tickets to, our money tree is usually bare.

BILLY JOEL

He’s been around for as long as I can remember.  Seems so recently that “We didn’t start the fire” was just released, but I was in elementary school, 1989.  I remember going to a sitters place for lunch & after school, she had a son a few years older than me at the same school.  When that song was released, it was all he’d play.  We also listened to a lot of “The B52s” & “Fine Young Cannibals”.

Weirdest time I heard Billy Joel played was 4 of us heading to Saskatoon in my brother’s car to see a metal band, “Trivium”.  We all knew the words & sang along to Billy Joel’s “Greatest Hits” on the drive there.  I only have his double album of Greatest Hits, & the album “River of Dreams”…

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Pink”, “The Damned Things”, “Foo Fighters”, & “Big Wreck”

Moments after I posted Friday’s blog, I got a call from an office regarding my mental health.  I now have an appointment scheduled for June.  That’s the earliest they can get me in.  So things are moving but at a snail’s pace.

Friday evening I watched the Toronto Blue Jays game.  The 20 years & 1 month old much talked about Vladimir Guerrero Junior’s 1st big league game.  He even got a standing ovation for grabbing a slow foul ball & tossing it to a fan in the crowd.  Toronto must be a boring place?  That or that fans have been hearing about his offense since he was signed at the age of 16.  He went 1 – 4 at bat.  After a day of interviews, a press conference & then a baseball game.  I’d just want to go home & go right to bed, at whatever age.  Toronto fans in Toronto at the games should probably dial back the energy & let the guy play?  I have never heard of that much enthusiasm for any player EVER.  Calm down, he’ll play again tomorrow.

More baseball on Saturday during the day & today.  Kim’s setting up the place for a photo shoot today.  We went for appetizers & a couple of drinks at “Tommy’s Speakeasy” on Saturday evening.  My brother & 2 other guys from their band were playing acoustic cover songs.  I spoke with one of the volunteers that I’d see in the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) program I was in.  Brief but good to see him.

Today is the 3rd & final game with Oakland in Toronto.  They get Monday off, then 3 games in Anaheim then 3 games in Texas.  Kim has a photo shoot in the afternoon, & I’ll be boiling eggs & making my veggie juice for the week.

Sting on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon is the bee’s knees!  Get it………Sting…bee’s………oh gorsh I’m old!

Jimmy Fallon & Paul Rudd recreate their 1980s video!

No, I likely won’t see these 3 movies in the theater.  Brewster has intense anxiety separation issues, unless there is somebody around to take care of him.  My brother & I might go to Avengers: Endgame this week, we’ll see?

DEVIN TOWNSEND & DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT

He’s an unknown metal musician from B.C. Canada.  He’s unknown outside the metal listeners.  He recorded “Lamb of God” their album “As the Palaces Burn” album.  At the time the some of the members of “Lamb of God” had no clue who he was?  He was asked to mix the album & replied “Are you kidding me?  NO!”

He’s been around for quite a while as the singer & guitarist for “Strapping Young Lad”, “Devin Townsend Project”, & just released a solo album on March 29th.  His brand of metal is weird.  It’s like ambient noise or a Disney song with his vocals, a guitar, & usually a choir?  Here’s a song from the “Lamb of God” album he recorded, followed by his solo album & my favourite “Devin Townsend Project” album….

2019   EMPATH

DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT

2012   EPICLOUD

allow=”accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture” allowfullscreen></iframe>

He has many “Devin Townsend Project” albums & 6 “Strapping Young Lad” studio albums & a greatest hits album.  “Strapping Young Lad” is a bit too much for me.

4 day exercise total; 400 pushups, 400 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 0 tricep lifts, 0  squats, 0 back flexes.

I can’t seem to shake this cold.  I start coughing when I do certain exercise or as much as I’d like to.  That’s the reason for the low numbers this week…..again.  My energy is still quite low as well.  My energy is still fighting my cold.

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “There is Nothing Left to Lose” followed by “Lamb of God” the album “Ashes of the Wake”

I exercised to “Bush” the album “Sixteen Stone”

I’ll let you know that on weekends my food consumption isn’t always super healthy.  I figure, keep everything in stricked moderation.  Now with that being said, there are things that I used to eat that I can’t handle anymore.  Example; My first bite of anything chocolate makes me cough uncontrollably.  I eat chocolate, but not like I used to.  Anything battered &/or deep fried I’m very concerned about how I’ll feel in 30 minutes.  This is more about me getting older than it’s about having had cancer.  After a road trip or just eating junk food, my body just cries vegetables & water.  I just don’t do that too much.

My doctor does have me on heart burn pills though.  My heart burn got quite intense when I had cancer.  I have thrown up stomach bile after forgetting or running out of my heart burn pills.

At this point I thought I’d be walking?  Frustrating, but I guess I’m not done exercising.  I should change it up a bit with some stretching & yoga 2 days a week, instead of working on my arms.  2 days of yoga a week, then 2 days of arms a week.

I got a call from an intake program.  They asked me a few questions & told me they would pass on my info to a psychologist, therapist, or psychiatrist.  I have enough pills as it is & obviously they’re not enough.  If I have to see a psychiatrist, I hope this person will talk more than just prescribe more pills?

I got my 2 preorder albums today.  “Pink” – Hurts 2B Human & “The Damned Things” – High Crimes

POSSIBLE LANGUAGE IN BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

39 years ago Thursday “Black Sabbath” released the album “Heaven & Hell”.  Their first album with Ronnie James Dio.

BARNEY BENTALL

I don’t know much about him.  My dad was a fan & a guy in Grade 10 drafting with me, loved this album, the only album I have & it’s from around that time.  It’s from 1995.  Yes, I’m staring down the barrel of being 40, not that big of a deal.  So here we go…..

1995   GIN PALACE

Did you hear that the number 1 prospect will be playing 3B for the Toronto Blue Jays tonight?  I’ve been hearing about this every day since the beginning of the regular season (March 28th).  He’s 19 or 20 years old & his dad, Vladimir Guerrero, is in the Hall of Fame as a Montreal Expo.  I’ve heard WAY TOO MUCH about this kid.  No pressure kid, only the entire baseball world will be watching you.  His hype could likely hurt him?  If he doesn’t hit a home run tonight, many people will be disappointed.  Granted there are no big names on the roster at the moment other than starting pitchers that are already dropping like flies.

He’s a kid!  Burry him in the batting line-up for a few days, he doesn’t need more pressure than he has right now.  Have him batting anywhere from 6th – 9th in the line-up & let him catch his breath.

My Blue Jay roster is close to filled through 2021.  Starting Pitchers; Stroman, Borucki, Sanchez, Panone, & _____.

Catcher Jansen, 1B Tellez, 2B Biggio, 3B Guerrero, SS Bichette, Outfield McKinney, Hernandez, & Grichuk.

Bench & utility players; Urena, Gurriel Junior, Alford, Maile.

Bullpen; Giles, Tepera, Biagini, Mayza, Gaviglio, _____, _____.  As for a Designated Hitter, I have no idea?

I’ve heard more about this kid than I have about Avengers End Game.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Music throughout the weekend.  “Matthew Good Band”, “U2”, “The Struts”, “Big Wreck”, & “Lamb of God”

We went to my parents’ place on Thursday for my father’s 60th birthday.  His birthday was on Monday, but this was the most convenient time to celebrate.  Bitter sweet since my friend’s father died this week.

We had a “Chili’s” restaurant in Regina, now it’s called “Rotisserie”.  Think KFC without any grease, WAY better!  1 bucket of BBQ ribs, garlic potato wedges, ceaser salad, McCain deep & delicious chocolate, a 2L of iced tea (sweet tea), & 1 bucket of chicken.

Friday my in-laws got into town in the afternoon.  We went to Sherry & James’ place in the afternoon to hang out & have supper there, BBQ hamburgers.  We came home fairly late, but Brewster had a great time running around in their backyard.  My cold is finally starting to fade away.

Saturday everyone was here for make your own pizza supper.  I ended up sleeping until 11 am, got up, showered, got dressed, & had my lunch.  Realized the dishwasher was full of clean dishes.  Emptied the dishwasher made my veggie juice for the week & 1 of many teas w/ lemon & honey.

My in-laws drove home Sunday in the late morning.  I said goodbye to them Saturday night in case I slept in, & of course I slept in.  I got up, did all of my morning crap.  Had lunch, boiled some eggs & we went to our friends’ place for our “nephews” first birthday.

It took the little guy a while to fully embrace the 1st birthday party cupcake, but he ended up doing the right way eventually……….it was EVERYWHERE!  A couple of wash clothes later & he was ready to go!

We came home & Kim watched “American Idol” aka a talent contest ruled by 3 celebrities who offer very few if any constructive criticism to help the contestants.  I’d rather not watch it, but I want to spend time with my wife.

Today should be a lazy day of TV, a little bit of laundry, & not much else.

An underground metal band based in Regina.  This group made me dip my toe into metal music with their 3rd album “Buried in Oblivion”.  I believe the first album was recently put on iTunes.  They just released their 6th album last year after a decade of the odd show here & there.  They tour all over the world & they’ve gone on tour with some big name metal acts like “Megadeth” & “Dream Theater”.  I have the “Gigantour” DVD when they toured with “Megadeth”.  “Into Eternity” & “Opeth” are easily the 2 heaviest bands I listen to, they can also sing you a lullaby though.  I didn’t go to this concert.  My brother was going to take me, but he’s waiting for surgery.  He has bone spurs on his shoulders, it’s hard for him to turn his neck, lift things, & his arms go numb sometimes.  He gets migraines if he doesn’t lay down every 45 minutes.  I figured he likely shouldn’t lift my chair or go to a concert.

I’d love to see them but not at the expense of my brother’s health.  Cheap tickets, $15 for an advanced tickets.  I’ll keep this brief for you.

3 day exercise total; 100 pushups, 400 leg lifts, 300 crunches, 0 tricep lifts, 0 squats, 0 back flexes.

I fell asleep to “Into Eternity” the album “The Sirens”

I exercised to “Black Sabbath” the album “Heaven & Hell”

A lot of tea, honey, & squeezed lemon going on here, along with cold fruit, water, cranberry juice & Sprite, & many cough candies.  Now about 2.5 weeks with no notifications from my “likes” on Facebook.  Why?  I don’t know?  I know I’m missing a lot of info!

Well Monday was a waste of a day.  Tuesday, I still had a bad cough but figured I should do some exercise.  Wednesday the good ol’ phlegm started to come down from my sinuses.  I did some exercise Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday.  Obviously not much if you look at the numbers though.  I probably should have slept on the couch this week?  I’ve been tossing back & forth in bed trying to get comfortable & probably making snorting sounds in my sleep.  Kim deserves a good night sleep or 5.

I shaved my beard off in November & I’ve remained clean shaven.  Last Thursday I  shaved & didn’t shave until this Tuesday.  WOW, I pretty much had a short beard, like I used to have.  I really don’t like shaving.  It’s almost summer though, maybe the beard will return in the fall or winter.  I can’t believe how fast it grows!

“Temple of the Dog” was released 28 years ago this past Tuesday.

Chris Cornell of the grunge band “Soundgarden” was roommate with Andy Wood who sang in a group called “Mother Love Bone”.  Andy Wood overdosed.  This album was made in his honour.  The members of “Mother Love Bone” became “Pearl Jam” with Eddie Vedder.  This is the only release from “Temple of the Dog”.

I hear there’s an online petition to name the black hole after Chris Cornell, since he wrote the hit song “Black hole sun” in 1994 with Soundgarden.

CASEY ABRAMS

Yes, he was on “American Idol” before the reboot.  He was voted off by the fans & saved by the judges.  He was done as the 6th man standing.  What do I like about “American Idol”?  That the fans get to vote.  What do I not like about it?  The judges have to deem the contestants who are good enough for the fans to vote on.  I don’t really need to see any of it until the finalé.  If I see the early stuff I say to the TV “Great, I liked contestant 79 better.  Where did they go?  They’re gone?  OK, so am I”.

This guy made it to number 6.  He played bass along with his singing of jazz, pop, & Nirvana’s “Smells like Teen Spirit”.  He was my favourite that year.  I think Scotty McCreery won that year though.  I’m not a fan of most country music though….

Now stuff from his 2012 release.  He has 3 or 4 albums on iTunes, I only have this first album of his.
