Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer? Ask if you do!

5 day exercise total; 1,500 crunches, 900 leg lifts, 200 squats, 00 back flexes, 0 pushups, 800 curls, 00 tricep lifts, 200 shoulder raises. Stretching & even more YOGA.

I fell asleep to “Nothing but Thieves” the album “Broken Machine”

I exercised to “The Darkness” the album “Last of our Kind”

More yoga this week than ever, gets my triceps really good that why I didn’t do any with my weights. I do weights, yoga, & other intense stretches every Tuesday & Thursday. Yes, I fall, I still have no physical balance. I use a chair, table, or wall to balance myself when doing certain yoga poses. So far when I fall I’m just strong enough to fall with a bit of grace & haven’t seriously hurt myself. My back was bugging me Monday, I rested it, put some ice on it & did my squats on Wednesday & Today.
Wake up, have breakfast, exercise, shower, eat lunch, check my computer Monday & one of the guitars I chose is “no longer available”? It wasn’t even the “Limited Edition” guitar? The 7 string Epiphone remains, the PRS I originally chose was a 2018 and more than $1000 less. I do not own a 7 string guitar or a PRS guitar, which sound very nice. Gotta pick one & hope it will happen. Yes, I book marked them so I can stare at them & call them both “My precious”!
It’s been decided 1 PRS next year. Same guitar as featured below, different year, better price! I hope there’s a 7 string around in 10 years, heck, I hope I’m still alive & relatively healthy in 10 years! Now, to start saving! Is this a mid-life crisis purchase? I hope I live to be 80 or more! If I make it to 80 or not this is my mid-life crisis purchase. I can’t drive, so it’s a very nice guitar! This is a LARGE purchase for me, a onetime deal for sure!

Kim gave me the OK for a reasonable PRS next year, so here’s hoping! Gotta start saving my pennies now! Thanks to Tim Roth at Long & McQuade for helping me in my search for the guitar I wanted!
I used to be able to play all the way through Foo Fighters’ 1997 album “The Colour and The Shape” on guitar, most of the 3rd album, all of the acoustic double album, & other songs in the mix, before cancer.

This one is available now & I’ll start saving for it ASAP. I’ll have to special order it in a burnt amber burst colour. This is a mid-life crisis purchase for me!

This was in the running but lost out, maybe someday, if they’re still around…& if I win the lottery…..I guess I should consider playing the lottery? Less expensive also. Go big or go home, once! Matt Heafy is the singer for “Trivium” metal music is fast & difficult for me on guitar, I’ll get there eventually for now 6 strings are enough to work with. It is the same guitar he plays in this video & on tour.

My priorities are Kim, Brewster, our family & friends, etc. Kim has different priorities, I guess?
Kim’s dental bill is payed off thanks to her father for helping out, she waited a long time for that (almost 24 years). She used her birthday money towards Brewster’s Vet bill. I thought I’d use my money for other things in the future, save it for a rainy day. She insisted that I use it towards a guitar! For me this is not only a mid-life crisis purchase & a nice work dealing with the cancer situation so far. It’s also a part of getting my old life back while improving it.
Kim works at a job she likes for decent pay. I exercise daily & try to recover while living on disability checks & Canadian pension plan checks that when added together don’t amount to anything above the poverty line. We tend to live in & out of debt. This is why luxuries are usually out of the question.
My Saskatchewan Roughrider season ticket is already paid for this year, so I’ll be at the game Saturday afternoon, & the home playoff game, which is paid along with the season tickets the previous December. That right there is $1000 a year + food & beverage. $6 for a watered down pop is as equally atrocious as a $9 generic beer. I refuse to spend $9 for a beer I can buy a 12 pack for $18 at the liquor store. I rarely drink beer other than a new flavour of craft beer. I usually have a pop & some popcorn or just chew gum to keep my mouth moist at the game, my pills give me dry mouth. I can pause the game here on TV and save on the cost of food & beverage.
A plus is to be able to just watch the game. Now it’s ‘Come for all of this extra stuff, & there’s a football game too’ I’m not a kid anymore, lights & games don’t do the trick anymore. More than I want & prices went up for the new stadium a few years ago, they’re not coming down.
I never watch live TV, EVER! “Oh, the game started? Thanks Kim, I’ll start it in ½ an hour”. Everything we watch is recorded. We’ll watch it when we have time. We’re busier than usual “around here”. No commercials that way.

My priority is to get better, sooner than later! Other than that, I shouldn’t NEED anything, it’s just stuff I WANT. Big difference between NEED & WANT! This guitar purchase will be a slap on the back as if to say “Hey, you’re doing alright. You gotta keep going, there’s a long road ahead still”. One day I’d like to find an online part time mundane job to do 4 hours a day/5 days a week, so I have time to exercise still.
Well whether this is settled or not. Please buy my house & I’ll love you long time…unless you’re not into that, then the safe word is sauerkraut & we can just cuddle in our PJs, eat popcorn, & watch movies. You’re the boss though, this is just a suggestion, nothing more.

I think this would have more to do with the style of music a person listens to. Biasedly though, I didn’t even know other bands had logos.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

5 day exercise total; 900 leg lifts, 1,200 crunches, 300 squats, 300 back flexes, 150 pushups, 800 curls (10 pounds), 500 tricep extensions (7 pounds), 400 shoulder raises (7 pounds).  Stretching & yoga.

I fell asleep to “Opeth” the new album “In Cauda Venenum”

I exercised to “Billie Eilish” the album “When we all Fall Asleep, Where do we go?”

I’ve recently (month & a bit ago) resumed playing/practicing my guitar limited skills after somewhere around 11 years.  I was always a singer first though.  A guitar on stage was something I picked up to hide behind.  I wasn’t a metal growler or screamer, I was a singer.  No, my friends & I are not famous anywhere unless you’ve been to a handful of watering holes in Regina.

It was a hobby that I really enjoyed, outside of dragging my gear home at 2:00 am.  I play at home now with a much smaller amplifier & pedal system.  I have three 6 string electric guitars & an acoustic guitar.  I never purchased any of my electric guitars.

My first guitar ever was an electric my parents bought me for my 21st birthday.  I learned a bit prior to that on my mother’s old acoustic guitar so I could help my friend learn bass.  I’ve never taken a guitar lesson, I’ve played piano when I was 8 & 9 years old, flute from grade 6-10 & high school choir from grade 10-graduation.

I just picked up the guitar initially to help our cover band’s bass player out.  He had never done anything musically before, so I did what I could along with 2 other friends to help him out.

My 2nd guitar I bought for myself, my acoustic guitar.  I play it when I’m too lazy to go the extra 10’ to plug in an electric guitar to my amplifier.

My wife bought me my 3rd guitar for our first Christmas as boyfriend & girlfriend.  She wanted to learn so I bought her a blue acoustic guitar for the same Christmas, she specified the colour.

My 4th guitar I got from a very good friend of mine while I was recovering in the Wascana Rehabilitation Center from stage 4 brain cancer.  It is signed by “Big Wreck” singer Ian Thornley.  Other than my Epiphone Explorer my wife bought me, this is the only popular brand name guitar I own, made by Fender guitars.

There would be no point in me having three 6 string electric guitars in the same tuning, so all 3 of them are in different tunings for a reason.

I remember the majority of the guitar parts I played in my first/cover band so that’s where I started.  More fun to play a song as I build up the strength in my fretting hand/left hand.

I’ve also been watching quite a few guitar clinics online to learn new songs.  All of this gives me something else to look forward to the next day other than just exercise.  I’ve gotten stronger, & now I can do more things, around the house, for my wife, our now old dog, my friends, & myself.

The way I see it is, if I’m not a part of the solution, I’m a part of the problem.

She said it much more eloquently than I would have!  Well done & I couldn’t agree more!

Wait a minute……………..I’ll be 40 in January.  I’m a Muse fan & a Rush fan.  Are they talking about me?

I saw this earlier this week.  I’m out of touch with the hip cool thing, oops!  First time I’ve heard them.  Haven’t decided if I’d purchase this yet?

90s alternative radio acceptable “rock” band.  Acoustic based rock band.  From the USA.  They appeared on quite a few movie soundtracks during the late 90s & early 2000s.  Can’t say I listen to them much anymore but I do own a Greatest Hits album.  I did own a couple of their CDs back in the day.  I have no problem with them, it’s just not my go to music.
