Stuff I’ve learned on guitar other than 5 or 6 scale patterns I do as a warm up.  All of these songs are new to me on guitar!


450 Curls w/ 20 pound dumb bells

250 Shoulder raises/Chest presses w/ 10 pound dumb bells

500 Crunches

500 Leg lifts

200 Squats

280 Back flexes

1:30 hours of yoga over 2 days

I guess when you think about it I’ve done OK.  Went into the hospital at 265 pounds, dropped to 200 pounds, and couldn’t put on any weight so I ate nothing but sugar until I weighed about 280.  I was at 226 on January 1st & now I’m stronger at a weight of 213 pounds.  In 1998 I was 185 pounds, I know my weight will never be in the 100s.

There’s no secret to my weight loss.  A diet is what you eat all of the time.  It’s not where you change what you eat until you lose weight & return to your previous type of food & beverage.  No matter what you’re eating & drinking over an extended period of time, don’t expect to gain or lose weight.  I’ve been eating the same thing for breakfast, lunch, & 3 small snacks a day since 2015, & I exercise 1:30 hours or more 5 days a week.

I pay attention to what I eat & how much of it.  I drink only water 99% of the time.  2 eggs a day, 0% yogurt, hummus, crackers, fish, 1 banana, and a glass of a mixed vegetable juice that I make, supper is the only wild card & it’s about portion control.  Kim drinks water, coffee, & tea.  We buy 1 liter of skim milk and sometimes use the entire liter before it spoils.  There’s always a vegetable tray in the fridge too.  No pop, just Bubbly sparkling water with natural fruit flavour.

I gotta say that this week my self-motivation to exercise has seriously dropped.  I exercise, but I really don’t like pushing myself to do it.  Maybe my body needs a break?  I’m still sore, stiff & tired.  Hopefully our long weekend next week will do the trick

If I try to relax, I get fidgety, I feel like I should be doing something.  It’s odd, I don’t want to do anything but I feel guilty just doing nothing?  Kim even mentioned it a few weeks ago.

I mentioned in the last post that I’d like another guitar.  I’m saying right now I don’t need another guitar.  I’ve got one on order, I’m saving for another, & I’m saving to upgrade my amplifier.  I need to play/hear the stuff that’s coming to me before I purchase anything else.  I’m VERY happy with what I have & what’s coming to me.  Another guitar, maybe in 4 years or more, or maybe not at all?

All of that being said, there’s a lot of stuff I don’t want & we don’t have a dispossable income.  Who does?  Other than 7 bands that I’ll purchase actual CDs from, 2 or 3 bands on iTunes, & then streaming, I don’t really want anything else.  Maybe 2 X 26 ounce bottles of rum a year but really that’s all.  Saving money for more important stuff should & will be a priority.  Exhibit A; Brewster’s health.  Exhibit B; We’d like to move to a house & not a condo.

I’ve looked into Harley Benton guitars quite a bit.  They’re really low priced knock offs of other brand name guitars.  They’re made somewhere in Asia & sell for $400 or less plus the shipping.  They look nice from a distance.  Some people say they’re great while others have received guitars with serious issues.  I think I’d avoid them.  I don’t want to pay $100 plus shipping to get a guitar that needs $200 worth of work to fix it.  Too many EXTREMELY random issues on the guitars they sell.

Practicing these songs.  I learn from this guy or mostly proper guitar tabs where I’ll have to change one little thing to make it right.

This guy’s AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  There are many more, a lot of stuff fell into place this week.  I still have to put all of the parts together for Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir”.  Maybe I’ll get brave & post some videos on the Facebook page soon?  That’s still a hard maybe.

Maybe I’m watching the news at the wrong time or people have learned to protest peacefully?  I hope the latter is true.  Nothing has changed other than more people are talking about racial injustice.  That’s a good starting point.  Now keep going!

The Toronto Blue Jays regular season starts on Friday July 24th.  I’ll be watching on TV as usual!
