I fell asleep to “Burn the Priest” the album “Legion XX”

Got up to pee in the middle of the night & put on “Stone Temple Pilots (2018)

No exercise today because my appointment this morning.

I’ve been listening to the “Beautiful Midnight” album by Matthew Good Band quite a bit.  Kind of forgot how much I like that album!

BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT

Today/this morning was my appointment to see my doctor at the cancer clinic (the doctor that calls me fat each time I see here).  No, I’m right around 220, that’s 45 pounds less than when I went into the hospital & then ballooned to, I’m guessing 280?  If she body shames me in person, I’ll tell her all of this & that my family doctor has me on a thyroid pill at the moment.  I’d like to be 210-215 but it’s coming off slowly, which I think is a good sign. I eat healthier & I of course exercise 5 days a week.

If she tells me to lose more weight, so be it.  Her problem, not mine.  I don’t look in the mirror often, however I did while brushing my teeth in Calgary.  Then I realized my face & neck were very thin.  A shirt that used to be a touch on the small side was VERY baggy.

If she tells me I’m fat I’ll respond politely with “That’s fine & all, but do I have cancer?”

AFTER MY APPOINTMENT

I knew my scan was good & I’m cancer free, from my appointment with my family doctor.  We went to the cancer clinic & she brought in my other oncologist who chose the chemo therapy I’d be on.  Everything is as it should.  One more appointment with my family doctor regarding my thyroid pill.

At my appointment this morning they were very happy to see me doing so well.  They called me something like a success story, I think I was just incredibly lucky.  December 31st 2018 will make 10 years cancer free for me.

I almost got out of there without a comment on my weight….almost.  We were on our way down the hall & she yells out “LOSE SOME WEIGHT!”  I replied “I HAVE!”  So close, but so far.

THE PHILOSOPHER KINGS

This is a total 180 from my typical rock & metal groups but I really like this group too.  More of an R & B sound.  I believe they’re out of Ontario, Canada, I’m not positive about that.  I own their first 2 albums on CD.  We were going to get tickets to see them in town at The Exchange.  They cancelled the show & opted to go into the studio & record their 4th album.  Seems odd to me to book a tour, then bail to record an album, but what do I know?  Here’s a sampling of their first 2 albums.

1994    “THE PHILOSOPHER KINGS”

1997      “FAMOUS, RICH, & BEAUTIFUL”

….and that’s a wrap on season 2 of “13 Reasons why” as of Monday evening.

Look at that Big Wreck just released a beer to make up for the pennies everyone is spending on albums to stream.

Tool update, if you want to beLIEve it?

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Friday ended with myself & a friend of mine watching the Jays game.  I asked Kim to hold my hand when it was 6-5 in the 9th inning with one out, she refused.  I was sweating & Trevor was having a hard time watching the final 2 outs with the bases loaded.  It all worked out well, 6-5 for the Jays but difficult to watch.  Kim & I watched Friday’s Ellen afterwards & went to bed.

Saturday, I slept in until 11:30 am.  Kim was already up & watching TV.  We watched the first 2 episodes of “13 Reasons why” season 2 on Netflix.  I then began watching the Jays game that’s in Philadelphia.  I watched them lose 2-1 seems to be the trend lately.  We then binge watched more of “13 Reasons why” on Netflix.  Lightning outside last night, but Brewster seemed OK, not great though.  He was pacing around the place a lot, hiding in the bathroom.  He was WAY better than how he usually is.  I just wanted to hold him & let him know everything would be OK.  I’m a big softy that way.  In total we’ve watched 6 of 13 episodes of “13 Reasons why”

Busy Sunday, & a more stuff to do.  We were at Corey & Jolene’s place so I could finally meet the one month old kiddo.

ODDS

A rock group out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  I own their first 4 albums on CD, iTunes & streaming sites didn’t exist at the time (insert old joke here).  They weren’t & aren’t a recognizable name, even in Canada.  I, of course am quite the fan.  Just because you don’t see their name here all of the time doesn’t mean I don’t listen to them.  They kicked off their career in 1991.  I was 11 years old at the time, still in elementary school.  A friend of mine got me hooked on them, I’ve been a fan ever since…..

1991      “Neapolitan”

1993     “Bedbugs”     These 2 songs were likely their most successful efforts.

1995    “GOOD WEIRD FEELING”

1996    “NEST”

There are more albums, but these are the 4 I have.  The singer for “It Falls Apart” recorded the ending theme song for a Canadian TV show filmed in Rouleau, Saskatchewan.

iTunes rumours!  Truly “FAKE NEWS” MUCH LIKE FOX & FRIENDS

I didn’t like this idea at all.  So I called Apple regarding this.  The person I spoke with told me it’s not true, thank goodness!  If this was true, I’m sure that those of us with iTunes accounts would have been emailed regarding this.

Apple Music, Tidal, Google Play, Spotify, etc.  All of these streaming music sites are considered to be the worst 4 letter word out there!  To me they’re the work of the devil!

Who decided that music/an art should be free?  Water & food should be free, it’s far more important to life than music!

I think any type of payment to the musicians would depend on their contract with their label?  I’m not positive about that, but I know a few local/signed groups that gets a fair piece of the money spent on iTunes.

If streaming an album gives the artists $0.03 as payment.  The musicians might as well record it, keep it to themselves & tour/sell T-Shirts, & other swag….and don’t forget to buy their fragrance or alcohol they’ve slapped their name on.

In the end you attain your music your way, & I’ll purchase mine.  I may not have a ton of cash, but that doesn’t mean everybody else should be the same way.  Judge me if you want, I’m not about to judge anyone for getting almost free music.

The more you share this, the more readers I get.  No, I’m not profiting from this in any way.

I fell asleep to “A Perfect Circle” the album “Eat the Elephant”

I exercised to “Burn the Priest” the album “Legion XX” basically Lamb of God’s first name.  This is a covers album.

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 day weekly exercise total; 960 pushups, 800 leg lifts, 400 crunches, 400 squats, 330 tricep pushups, & 160 back flexes.

Well that was dumb!  Resumed my exercise like always on Tuesday!  Even though I have not done any exercise since Friday, May 11th.  Somedays my stupidity amazes me!  Probably most other people too hahahaha!  Rhetorical question, keep the answer to yourself please.

I’m the one that puts all of the pressure on me, nobody else.  This week I got really frustrated with my exercise.  Thinking to myself “I have to do better, I have to do more…etc.”  I also had one of those moments, where I took a step back & thought “Is this what I’ll be doing until I die?”, at that moment I realized I have a lot of family & friends I can count on to help me out!

Americans & the rest of the world are worried about a nuclear war.  Why are Americans afraid?  They’ve got their guns to protect them, & if they don’t own a gun they’ll probably be shot?  They kind of have a bad option.  Would you prefer to be killed in a nuclear war or be shot, especially a civil war?  I’m not joking here.  Just mentioning a sad reality!

These days, I really try not to take anything too seriously.  A couple of people tried to make fun of me on a public Facebook page, they knew nothing about me & I knew nothing about them.  I didn’t see any of the multiple posts where they were acting very immature until my brother tagged me in a response.  Thanks Mitch, let them go at it.  If someone I don’t know on Facebook wants to take a cheap shot at me, so be it.  In the end, they’re the ones who made the comments, I did not reply to my statement about emojis.  Because emojis are a FANTASTIC reason to get upset………………….NOT!

ECONOLINE CRUSH

They have 5 albums & 1 EP.  I own their first 2 albums on CD & another from iTunes.  Wikipedia says they’re from Vancouver, British Columbia, I always thought they were originally from a small farming town in Manitoba.  Wikipedia is not always correct with pop culture stuff such as bands, movies, & TV series.  I could be wrong also?  Their sound is that of a rock band that’s influenced by industrial metal, they are NOT a metal group, I would call them an industrial rock band.

I’m not an expert on them, but a lot of my friends are.  I like them quite a bit.  This is another post-grunge group from Canada that were HUGE in the late 1990s & early 2000s.  There’s an album & an EP that were released prior to this album.  Honestly, I haven’t listened much to the album I got from iTunes.

1997        “The Devil You Know”

2001        “BRAND NEW HISTORY”

I thought it was a well-deserved moment this week when Ashton Kutcher donated $4,000,000 to Ellen Degeneres’ wild life foundation for the gorillas in Africa!

If any of this is true (which I HIGHLY doubt it is) I’ll go back to buying CDs.  Amazon, here I come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Maybe?  Oh, the lies!  I couldn’t find the link he saw on that site!  Also, you would think iTunes users would get a direct email regarding this?!

I fell asleep to “Live” the album “Throwing Copper”.  Yes, the album with their big hit “Lightning Crashes”

I had breakfast while listening to “Muse” the album “Drones”

I decided to only exercise for 4 days this week since Monday was a holiday.

I’m sorry but when a shooting occurs in America, it’s only partially a tragedy.  It should be a wakeup call to the useless politicians all across America.  This is not a joke, politicians need to do their job.  Isn’t that what they were elected for?  The mention of a shooting seems to always fall on deaf ears.  It’s a pretty easy solution.  Take the guns away, shutdown the NRA, & let the politicians deal with the aftermath.  Every gun owner will be ticked at the political figures.  I would ask any political figure if they ever thought “Should I wear my bullet proof vest when I leave the house today?”

The NRA pays the politicians to remain unharmed & operating as usual.  Maybe everyone else should give the politicians $5 each to stay alive & never deal/see a gun?  Maybe someone should set up an Anti-NRA & pay the government?  It all boils down to the fact that the politicians aren’t doing their job.

Did everyone get their fill of the royal wedding on the weekend?  I don’t understand the attraction that people have to anything regarding the royal family or the Kardashians?  A lot of people don’t know them personally, weren’t invited to the event, yet it’s televised so that the world can watch the event.

I’ve decided that our DVD of our wedding should be aired on TV.  We’re not rich or anywhere near royalty.  Just like the Kardashians & the Royal family.  You might not know us personally & weren’t invited to the wedding, I think we could get some high ratings though!  Just look at “Keeping up with the Kardashians” or anything to do with the “Royal Family” same deal, they just have money, the one thing missing, SNAP!

DEAD SARA

I know very little about this band.  I’ve got their 2 albums, self-titled album was released in 2012, 2nd album “Pleasure to Meet You” released in 2015.  I have a singled which is a cover of Nirvana’s “Heart Shaped Box” & the EP “The Airport Sessions” released in 2016.  They will be releasing another EP “Temporary Things Taking up Space” on June 8th.  How did I find out about them?  I saw a random video on www.youtube.com & took a dive into it.  I tend to find random things to pass on to others while writing this blog.  I find this band difficult to put down at the moment!

All I could tell you is that they would have been huge if they came out during the grunge explosion of the early 1990s.  Take a listen & see if you agree?

I missed 2008 & according to this list I didn’t really miss anything.  I hope you got your fill of them.  I was sleeping most of that year…..you know, with the brain cancer n’ such.

I’ve got it & I might review it?  So many people reading this might not like a Lamb of God/Burn the Priest review?

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

Quiet Mother’s Day.  Over to my parents’ house for BBQ chicken & ribs, avocado salad & potato salad.  Followed by 2 tasty cakes.  Yes, I tried both cakes to make sure they were up to standard for everyone else……You’re welcome, I aim to please!

Lots of people there for supper.  Mom, dad, Kent, Leanne, my cousins Megan Gagnon, Danielle Gagnon, Grandma, Grandpa, aunt Leanne’s parents, Clint & Dorothy White, Mitch, Rachel was at a wedding shower, Kim & I.  I feel as though I’m missing someone?  Sorry, lots of people & 2 dogs, Mac & Goose, Brewster stayed with Sherry & James.

Yes, I have converted my dad into a “Big Wreck”, “Foo Fighters”, & “Royal Blood” fan & now a “Queens of the Stone Age” fan.  I saw “Royal Blood” open for “Foo Fighters” with my father in 2015.  I’ve never seen “Queens of the Stone Age” before this though.  A very quick trip to Calgary to see the show.  Drive on Wednesday, get there in time for supper.  Concert was on Thursday night.  Drove back to Regina on Friday & got here at about 6:00 pm.  A big thank you to my Aunt & Uncle Kent & Leanne Fraser for letting dad & I stay at their house!  Kent is my dad’s younger brother

When we saw Foo Fighters in 2015 my uncle said to me, “So you’ll only come to Calgary if Foo Fighters are in town?”  I should have said this time “Nope, we’ll come for Queens of the Stone Age too!”  In actuality Kim & I might go there for a bit of vacation time during the summer in the next few years.

This is just to show that a guy in a wheelchair can get out & still live a relatively ‘normal’ life with the help of family & friends!  My legs work a bit, so I’ll need help if I’m somewhere new.  By the 2nd day I figured out how to stand at the washroom counter on the main floor & the second floor to brush my teeth & wash my face.  Dad had to help me get to the toilet, not really a big deal?

The concert was FANTASTIC!  Royal Blood now has 2 ten song albums out & Queens of the Stone Age have 7 albums out.  The most recent album was produced by Mark Ronson who released 1 album with guest vocalist including “Uptown Funk” with “Bruno Mars”, I was curious at first just to hear what would come out of the 2 working together and the album was really good, live was even better.  Royal Blood opened…

Queens of the Stone Age were the headliner.  I’m not sure how long Royal Blood played for but they started right at 8:00 pm, which was nice, & Queens of the Stone Age finished right at 11:00 pm.  Short show, but well worth the trip….

I remember more songs they played but that’s quite a few already!  Nice needed break!

Yes, I consider myself a Metallica fan now, a friend of mine is a HUGE fan & lent me the CDs.  I have the studio albums & the live album with the symphony.  I had a few on CD as well.  I totally agree with the musicians having a strong dislike for Napster & now all of these streaming sites.  I personally hate them.  I use iTunes, if I had the physical space I’d start a vinyl collection!  Unless you’re buying a TON of merchandise, alcohol, clothing, or a fragrance released by your favourite artists, that’s the only way they’re able to continue doing what they’re do!  They’re not making money from album sales anymore!  Swedish metal groups Opeth & In Flames have their own brand of beer from Opeth & Gin from In Flames.

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/metallicas-kirk-hammett-were-still-right-about-suing-napster-w520290

I used Napster, I downloaded Torrent files for free also.  While I was sick, we’d go to a music store & I’d pick out CDs, 2 a month when I was able to go home for a few hours at night.  I’d ask Kim to purchase the 2 CDs.  “Do you have this already?” she’d ask.  I usually said “Yes, the Torrent file”.  I carried on this way until CDs dropped in price.  Then I started to use iTunes.  I figured, “I was working for a paycheck, why not musicians?”  You’re entitled to get your music however you like.  Maybe it’s different than what I choose to do?  That’s fine with me, I use iTunes & Kim uses Apple Music.  Whatever floats your boat, I use Apple Music to preview an album before I buy it on iTunes.

“Trivium” needs to come back to Saskatoon, as well as “In Flames”.  Not only to play a show there but my “Trivium” & “In Flames” shirts both have a hole in the right armpit.  Now designated as exercise shirts.

Trailer for the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!  I heard it was in the works & that Sacha Baron Cohen “Borat” was fired when they got into the production, finally it’s here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://loudwire.com/first-bohemian-rhapsody-trailer-released/

Mark Tremonti likes “The Cars”?  AWESOME!

I agree.  The Blue Jays are paying $20,000,000 a year for injured short stop, Troy Tulowitzki.  He was good for 2.5 months at the end of 2015 and currently hasn’t played since July of 2017.  His fielding is great, his hitting is more than questionable.  At least it’s not my money!  There’s about 6 rookie short stops waiting in the minor leagues, Tulowitzki has created a road block for.  The Blue Jays got him in the last week of July 2015.  He was good right up to mid-October, & hasn’t been the same since.

Do you have a question about stage 4 brain cancer?  Ask if you do!

AFTER THIS POST, YOU’RE ON YOUR OWN UNTIL NEXT WEEKEND!  I DON’T KNOW HOW PEOPLE WITH CELL PHONES DON’T NEED A BREAK AFTER CHECKING THEIR PHONE ON AVERAGE 2,617 TIMES A DAY????  I NEED A BRAKE & MY DAD & I ARE GOING ON A ROAD TRIP LATER ON THIS WEEK.

http://www.businessinsider.com/dscout-research-people-touch-cell-phones-2617-times-a-day-2016-7

Don’t know if that’s true, but that’s what www.google.com told me!

My mother canceled a Mother’s Day supper.  Well she postponed it until the following Sunday when more family is in town & my parents wanted to get the backyard ready for summer.  I’ll at least call her.

I watched & recorded “The Ellen Degeneres Show” on a different channel on Friday, thinking that it would still record on the same channel it always does.  Nope, it didn’t record, Kim missed it, my bad.

Kim went to bed around 8:30 or so, her allergies, like most people, are affecting her.  Poor Kim, I don’t even like to see her with a cold & she had to watch me with cancer.

Saturday Kim went to take photos of our friends who just had their 2nd child.  She got home & we went to check out the Sobey’s liquor store in the South end of town.  She brought me home & went grocery shopping.  She put the groceries away while I zipped through the baseball game.  After that we had supper.  I watched “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” while Kim decided to bail & clean the kitchen.

Good movie but of course filled with LANGUAGE & RATED-R!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mostly laundry left to do today, make a juice, & some cleaning.  Kim started the laundry Saturday night.  Oh, how our life is SO entertaining!  I guess that’s what happens in your upper 30s!

THE TRAGICALLY HIP

Canada’s most iconic rock band.  I was a very casual fan that owned 4 CDs out their many, many albums.  I’m not an expert on them, but I’m guess 50% of Canadians at least know who they are & likely have at least 7 or 8 albums if not all of them?  They did a final tour, that truly was a final tour.  The singer, Gord Downie, had terminal brain cancer.  CBC aired the final show all across Canada.  On the upside, they left their mark on Canadian culture.  Here’s a few songs I own on the 4 CDs I have in order of release….

UP TO HERE   1989

FULLY COMPLETELY    1992

DAY FOR NIGHT   1994

TROUBLE AT THE HENHOUSE       1996

5 albums & their upcoming release dates that I’m anticipating.

May 18th, Lamb of God/Burn the Priest – Legion XX

June 8th, Tremonti – A Dying Machine, and Dead Sara EP.

June 15th, Chromeo – Head over Heals

July 6th, Devin Townsend Project – Ocean Machine (Live album)
