Weekly exercise total; 1080 pushups, 720 leg lifts, 500 crunches, 400 squats, 300 tricep pushups, & 200 back flexes


I change the order of the exercises I do for 2 reasons.  So that I stay sane & to avoid muscle memory.  The only thing that stays the same is my squats are always first.  Everything else is done on the floor.  I do my squats, sit on the couch, move my wheelchair out of the way, & get on the floor from the couch, which is a much easier way of getting on the floor.


I increased 2 exercises today only.  280 pushups, & 160 leg lifts instead of 140.  I don’t know if they’ll all be that amount next week but I’ll try.

This week I did more than 3 sets of 25 squats.  I did 4 sets of 20 squats.  Not a huge difference, only 5 more a day.  Over the course of a 5 day week that’s 25 extra squats.  Not necessarily a massive increase per day, but it’s enough for me!  My right calf still looks like the bone of a chicken wing.  Squats, crunches, & leg lifts are the crucial exercises I have to do.  They all work out my core muscles & my legs somewhat.  Squats are also some extra cardio for me other than walking with my walker or riding an exercise bike.  When I lived with my parents, during my days at the technical college, I’d ride the exercise bike & watch a “Lord of the Rings” movie for the entire length of the movie.

All of that exercise, & it really didn’t help me lose weight, I was eating terribly.


I’m not obese by any means.  I was 185 when I graduated high school, then quite steady at 265.  Last I checked (a few weeks ago) I was 220.  The change is I’m in a wheelchair 98% of the time.  I’m sitting & then my belly sticks out.  For me to be under 210 is ridiculous!  Everybody, for the most part, on my mother’s side of the family has issues with weight.  Most of us have a large frame.  Big boned is a real thing.

My problem is when I left my physiotherapy & continued to eat stuff full of sugar, all of my weight went straight to my belly.  When we moved to this house on December 18th, 2013, I ate absolute crap.  Now & for a few years I eat much healthier.  Vegetable juice every morning of water, orange juice, tomatoes, spinach, broccoli, pea pods, & frozen fruit or ice cubes with my breakfast.  Hardboiled egg or 2, 2 rice cakes, some type of fruit.  Then a lunch of either a deli turkey meat wrap with hot sauce & a slice of cheese, or a piece of fish with lemon juice on it.  I sometimes have a snack of 0% yogurt with blueberries in it or hummus & rice crackers.  Supper is whatever Kim feels like having (typically something healthy).  I have 0-3 coffees a day, no sugar or cream.  Black Columbian coffee.  That’s my diet 5 days a week, weekends, I don’t really pay attention to a regulated diet.  I know I physically can’t handle a ton of sugar or grease.  My stomach doesn’t agree with that since it’s not the norm for me.

I’m 6’ 1” with a big frame.  I’m slowly getting closer to what will make me happy & possibly have me walking one day in the future.  Healthy food during the week & other stuff in moderation on the weekends.


THE 1970s

I wasn’t born until 1980 but there is some really good tunes from the 70s.  I was into the “grunge” stuff, & wanted to hear what stuff influenced the “grunge” musicians.  Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Boston, Kansas, & all the way back to The Beatles & The Rolling Stones.  I’ve never really been much of a Rolling Stones fan though, it’s fine & I’ll listen to it.  I don’t seek out for it though.  I had an “As seen on TV” 70s compilation, it’s AWESOME….

A lot of these bands I’ve never heard of, some I’ve only heard the name of, some I’ve heard & avoid as much as possible, & a few are FANTASTIC!

  1. To clarify the push up total. I was doing sets of 30, I got to 240 rested & I figured I’d see what was left in the tank & ended up at 280, I only had 1 other exercise to do & it involved my legs & core instead.
