I fell asleep to “Metallica” the album “Master of Puppets”
So far this year I’m 4/5 out of the albums purchased! “Corrosion of Conformity” was very forgettable, very fast. Somethings still a bit wonky with iTunes, so no more preorders from me. See if that finally fixes things?
Thursday evening I watched the Toronto Blue Jays home/season opener with another Chris. The other Chris & Trevor couldn’t make it. Good thing after watching the Blue Jays pickup right where they left off last year with a 6-1 losing effort.
$20,000,000 short-stop will be on the 60 day disabled list, he hasn’t played since July 7th. Also the $23,000,000 third baseman can’t throw to first base. He can hit, I don’t see him playing 3B until sometime next week. Time to see all of that depth they acquired in the offseason!
Slept in on Friday, Kim was up early to pick up Hannah & go shopping with her. I was folding laundry when they came home the 3 of us had a picnic inside. Yogurt, apple slices, Panini split 3 ways, a 1/6 of a cookie each, & a little candy that Hannah brought for us all. Hannah says we can save the other half of the cookie later.
Saturday was a busy day for us. Lunch with Corey, Jolene, Hannah, & extended family from out of town. HUGE Easter meal, ham, potato salad, 2 broccoli salads, perogies, cabbage rolls, peas, bread, cookies, & 2 pies, apple & cherry.
We were home by 5:50 or so. Mitch & Rachel came by for BBQ steak, broccoli salad, & garlic bread. Sat around & visited for a while. Kim went to bed & I stayed up to watch the Blue Jays win in grand fashion.
3 stolen bases by 1 player in the 8th inning to make it 5 – 3 for the Jays. That hasn’t happened since 1947 or 1941, I can’t remember what they said. Nobody has stolen home plate for the Blue Jays since 2007.
I watched it late Saturday night, Kim & Brewster were in bed. I was so happy & couldn’t make a sound. The Blue Jays won the game 5 – 3. That made their record 1W – 2L. New York has 5 very capable homerun hitters. 6’7” Aaron Judge hit 52 HR while winning rookie of the year, Stanton was in Miami & hit 59 HR. Then there’s Sanchez, Gregorious, & currently injured 1B Jeff Bird who all 3 collectively likely made another 110 HR. They’re just scary to watch.
This is how they won the 4th game.
After 4 games (12 hours) of baseball against the N.Y. Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays are 2W – 2L. That’s all I expected of them. Better than last year but they won’t make it to the World Series. All of that being said 4 games is a very small sample for a 162 game season. Last year they got off to a 2W-12L start.
Kim & I watched “Star Wars: Episode 8 The Last Jedi” on blu-ray Sunday night. I’m glad I saw it in the theater! Our blu-ray was skipping, freezing & the audio dropped out a bit during the last 15 minutes of the movie. We’ll exchange it pretty quick. I just took it out of the package to watch it last night. I’m the one that will watch a movie more than a few times. I’m pretty sure I watched “Deadpool” at least 15 times or so?
GRETA VAN FLEET & LED ZEPPELIN
I slowly got into Led Zeppelin in 1998 & 1999. I had a 3 disc box set only at the time. When Corey started SIAST (Saskatchewan Institute of Arts & Science Technology) in December of 2001(?) he was really big on Led Zeppelin then. I started buying their CDs. I only have a few, but most of them came from Corey’s CDs. I learned some simple songs on guitar, but there aren’t many easy songs to play.
What does “Greta Van Fleet” have to do with this? Close your eyes & just listen, you’d swear it is Led Zeppelin. They’re quite young actually ranging from 18-21 years of age.
Here some of my favourite Led Zeppelin songs followed by 2 or 3 Greta Van Fleet songs…
Here are 3 songs from Greta Van Fleet’s 2nd, 8 song album “From the Fires”.
I can’t blame the singer for sounding like a carbon copy of Robert Plant. The bassist & drummer aren’t anywhere near the talent of John Paul Jones & John Bonham. The guitarist I’d say is trying to sound like the 2nd coming of Jimmy Page. They’re good at what they do, but Led Zeppelin did this first.
I don’t blame him at all. Jonny Depp states that actors should not become musicians. Then you see all of this news that he’s now playing guitar in “Hollywood Vampires” with Joe Perry of Aerosmith. I was all like “WHAAAAA…..?”
