I fell asleep to “Tool” the album “AEnima”

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I decided to work out today.  It would have been a wasted day for me otherwise.

400 pushups, 400 crunches, 400 leg lifts, 160 back flexes, 80 triceps pushups.  I achieved all of my exercise goals this week.

Exercising for 4 days is much easier than 5 days.  I had far more energy than usual.  I didn’t feel like rolling over into the fetal position & crying afterwards like I feel most days lately.  Wednesday, Thursday, today felt good!  I hope this trend stays around for a while!

All of these people being accused of sexual harassment, & now Roy Moore running for senate in Alabama saying ‘Why now & not in 1979?’  Well I get the fact that these women are now coming out & saying something now.  They feel safe now & confident that people will take notice of what they have to say.  Now they will be heard, while the filthy liars who committed these crimes try so hard to deny these accusations.  Roy Moore says “I asked their mother before taking them out” SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!  When someone is 14 & sexually assaulted by a 32 year old, I don’t care if you had God’s blessings.  He’s been accused of sexually assaulting 5 teenage girls in the 1970s & early 1980s.  I hear Roy Moore was also banned from a mall.  Get off of your high horse & throw away your gun that you showed at your rally.

With all of these accusations coming out, how is Trump still president?  He’s been accused & has admitted to it & people have turned a blind eye to his wrongdoings.  WHY?  People like this belong in a jail cell, & should be treated like every other sexual predator!

THAT’S ALL FOR THE CANCER TALK FOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve been a fan of “Queen” from as far back as I can remember.  Now that I know “Foo Fighters” are fans of “Queen” makes it much better than it already was.  I get to hear this now when I see “Foo Fighters” in concert!

LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I want to see real people doing their craft.  Concerts would get boring if this hologram stuff.

Stone Temple Pilots have a new singer & single

The singer’s name is Jeff Gutt.  He placed 2nd on one of the season of “The X Factor”.  Here he is on “The X Factor” doing a great cover of “Radiohead”

I think this adds validity 2 things I’ve always thought.  These “reality” shows are nothing more than subjectively judged talent shows.  Also he got the last laugh in the end!  The judges aren’t wrong, it’s just a subjective response.

The new “Barenaked Ladies” album “Fake Nudes” was released last night.  I’ll give it a good listen before I review it.

I’ll admit I’m not much of a punk fan but there are quite a few on this list that I like!

“A Perfect Circle” made a video for their single “The Doomed”

“Queens of the Stone Age” are on tour with “Royal Blood” opening for them.  Unfortunately no one wants/can go to a show in Calgary or Winnipeg in May.

I guess it saves us some cash though!  L

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”

I don’t get to listen to music much at the moment, something is off with my iTunes & our universal remote is loopy at the moment.  Possibly Friday all should be normal, well the remote more than likely.  The guy helping me at Apple has been really good, above & beyond a regular customer service person.

Very short week of exercise for me!  Honestly, I could use it.  A full week seems to make me very tired.  On weekends, lately, I tend to sleep in longer, like as long as I did as a teenager.  11:00 am is quite normal for me on weekends.  I really don’t like that, it feels like I’ve wasted the day!  During the week I like getting up around 7:00 am & getting stuff done.  Lately I get up early & feel very sluggish.  I don’t know if it’s because I’ll be 38 in January or that I need a break?  We really don’t know how to relax.  We’re both tired from each of us having very different days doing very different things than the other.  I have no plan in relaxing until the break between Christmas & New Year.  I just hope I can make it that far.

Anyways, Monday was a holiday & Kim has Friday off, I’ll be off as well!  3 day week for me.  If you haven’t subscribed you may want to do so before the posts becomes a very random, instead of the typical Monday, Wednesday, & Friday.  Facebook seems to slow down from December-January.  I’ll be doing a blog post on Friday though.

Yesterday after my exercise, I was awake………………barely.  I felt…

Today was much better!

THAT’S ALL FOR WHAT’S ON MY MIND & CANCER TALK!  HERE COMES THE POPCULTURE STUFF!

Remember please that these have all been my most precious albums that have influenced me.  I enjoy metal music, some of it, I could never play it or growl.  I played & sang rock music.  After I got into metal, I started dating Kim in 2002.  Her brother-in-law was a metal fan & we’d suggest metal & rock bands to each other.  Then my brother started listening to some metal.  These are all from the first albums I heard by these groups or purchased/borrowed.  So here’s a few bands I’ve found out about through our grape vine which includes Corey McDonald…

I know Mitch & Corey aren’t into all of this anymore, I couldn’t tell you about James though?

I discovered more on my own that James was in to, & left me to discover it on my own.

Before all of this we all got in to “System of a Down” on our own.  I really didn’t like them at first.

No, I don’t just listen to metal music.  I have some Harry Connick Jr, Nat King Cole, Norah Jones, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Genesis, etc.  My first 2 CDs as a kid were….

The actual Bryan Adams album “Waking up the Neighbours”

Friday ended with us watching our recorded shows on our DVR.  Saturday I slept in while Kim started cleaning since Brewster & I were still sleeping.  When Kim cleans, it’s always best to stay out of the way.  On top of that she went grocery shopping!  Then we cleared off the DVR & watched the Demi Lovato documentary on www.youtube.com REALLY good, I recommend it, it’s called “Simply Complicated” phenomenal voice too!

Full movie here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWTlL_w8cRA  or below.

Sunday I went to my parents’ place to watch the Saskatchewan Roughriders play the Ottawa Redblacks.  Roughriders crossed over to the eastern division & we won!!!!!!!!!!  Next week we play the Toronto Argonauts.  We also watched the Edmonton Eskimos beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the western division.  They play the Calgary Stampeders next week.  I cheer for 3 teams the Riders, anyone against Calgary, & anyone playing against B.C.  Yes, that’s how I’m gonna be.

Today is more getting ready for the week, & Kim will go to the gym.

I fell asleep to “Our Lady Peace” the album “Happiness is not a Fish that you can Catch”, “The Tragically Hip” the album “Trouble at the Hen House”, “Led Zeppelin” the album “Physical Graffiti”, & finally “Dream Theater” the album “Black Clouds & Silver Linings”

I exercised in silence today.  I’ve been having issues with my iTunes library, but may have it fixed today, I hope.  The guy I’ve been dealing with in the Apple customer service is FANTASTIC!  I’ve never been this impressed by any customer service person!  I’ve been working with him & the engineers at Apple for about a month.  He’ll call me out of the blue just to let me know he’s still working on my case.

500 pushups, 500 crunches, 500 leg lifts, 200 back flexes, 100 triceps pushups.  I achieved all of my exercise goals this week.  That always puts a smile on my face!

I could use a smile this week.  I’m getting stronger physically, which means I’m able to help out around the house more.  Kim is working herself way too hard, work & exercise for her boxing charity.  I try to get as much as possible done before she gets home, dishes, dishwasher, cooking, cleaning, etc.  Trying to do regular stuff at top speed gets me extremely stressed out!  By 3:00 pm I’m very hot/sweaty & tired.  I can’t tell you why or what I’m stressing out about, but I am.  Mostly it feels like there isn’t enough time in the day.

The reason I’m in a wheelchair is because I cannot walk without something to hold on to.  My legs work, I can get into our walk in shower after I carry my shower seat in there, I can walk with a chest high walker, I can reach the top shelf of our pantry by using the door frame to stand up, etc.  Our place has grab bars in each bathroom, & I have transfer polls I use to sit on the couch & to get into bed.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older or just because I’m doing more stuff now that I’m able to?

November 11th is Remembrance Day in Canada.  A day when we take a moment to honour, thank, & remember previous veterans & current soldiers keeping us safe.  I think this year is what us forgotten Canadians really need!

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CONTINUE TO KEEP US SAFE & THANK YOU TO THE VETERANS & THOSE WHO HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES KEEPING US SAFE!

THAT’S ALL FOR THE CANCER TALK FOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This type of thing should happen at every public event!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I can’t tell you how onboard I am with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right at the door someone should send anyone with a cell phone back to their vehicle.  It happened to me years ago, & made total sense!  I had it turned off anyways.  You have to turn it off in a movie theater, why not a concert.  Have some self-control.  Take a picture & a video of your favourite song, then put your phone away.  If you can’t do that, leave it in your vehicle or at home.

No, I don’t listen to Marilyn Manson, but he makes a valid point here.

Paramore is actually selling cassettes online, odd.

When the Toronto Blue Jays start spring training I have a wish list for the team.  3 new everyday outfielders, new everyday short stop, and possible new 2nd baseman.  1st base, 3rd base, & DH can & should remain the same.  Biagini, Osuna, Tepera, & Ramirez all in the bullpen with others.  Estrada, Stroman, Sanchez, & Happ as starting pitchers.  If all of this is possible that would be great!  Any of the new players should have speed, bat left handed, & have a good batting average & on base percentage.  Mr. Atkins & Mr. Shapiro, please don’t put the fans through another 2017?

When Corey McDonald started SIAST shortly after me.  He showed me the path to what is now my favourite “Soundgarden” album “Badmotorfinger”.  I pulled out the “Superunknown” album, & Corey asked if I had heard “Badmotorfinger”, I hadn’t, so he lent it to me the next day.  Since then that album it’s my go to “Soundgarden” album.

After hearing that album once, I was hooked & bought it ASAP.  Corey then opened my eyes to “Pantera” & I got hooked on “Into Eternity” the album “Buried in Oblivion”

This was in the early 2000s.  I started SIAST in September of 2001, my 2nd week was when 9/11 happened.

I’m not crazy, someone else just praised “Batman vs. Superman”!  Others have seen “Justice League” & found it to be the best movie in the DC universe!

I have “Thor Ragnarok”, “Justice League”, & “Star Wars VIII” to see.  I see good times ahead!

Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!  This is MY dark side of Rush.  Foo Fighters & audience fan.  LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fell asleep to “Big Wreck” the album “In Loving Memory Of…”

I exercised to “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”

It doesn’t bother me if you watch Reality TV.  I get sucked into it at times when Kim watches.  However it’s not reality, it’s “reality”.  They’re mostly talent contests & game shows.  They all have rules & restrictions to them.  Real life has no rules or restrictions other than breaking the law.  A writer or creator has a blank page & can take the TV show, movie, or musical anywhere.  “Parenthood” was probably the best example of this & much more realistic than any “Reality TV” show.

“Survivor” first aid is right there if you need them, “The Amazing Race” it’s a race, “America’s Got Talent” talent contest, “American Idol” singing/talent contest, “The X Factor” singing/talent contest, “The Bachelor”/”The Bachelorette” a contest to date & possibly meet your future spouse…etc.  At the end of these shows the winner gets a prize.  So where’s the real part of these “Reality TV” shows?  When did life become a completion?  At the end of real life you die.  You don’t necessarily win something, or did I miss the memo.  If you watch them or not, that’s cool with me.  I get sucked into a few that Kim watches, & then I become invested in the show.

My grandmother died of breast cancer on December 5th 1999.  Everyone in the family came to my parents’ house.  I was 19, Mitch was 12.  I went to my room & listened to I Mother Earth’s 3rd album “Blue, Green, Orange” turned up to 11 through headphones!

I was in university at the time when final exams rolled around, I was not in a good place mentally.  I’d drive my car to Moose Jaw, 45 minutes away, & back blasting Foo Fighters 3rd album “There is Nothing Left to Lose” both ways.  That’s the year Foo Fighters & Big Wreck became my favourite bands.  I turned 19 “Bar age” in January of 1999, and was able to see Big Wreck live.  Big Wreck would play Regina 3 – 4 times a year, I always went to see them.

From then on I was really expanding my musical preferences.  Any 80s hair metal band has been & likely will be a big NO from me.  They all seem to have that same 80s sound.  Don’t get me wrong they are really good musicians, just not something I’d listen too much, if at all.

Finger Eleven, I Mother Earth, Big Wreck, Foo Fighters & the grunge explosion stuff became my preferred listening bands.  Moral of this story do not go in a mosh pit, break your nose & lie to the First Aid guy at a festival so you can catch the end of the Big Wreck song you broke your nose to & be covered in blood half way through the day.

Finger Eleven & I Mother Earth were Mitch’s bands, & I Mother Earth, Big Wreck, & Foo Fighters were my bands.  We both like Finger Eleven, I Mother Earth, & Foo Fighters.  The difference is Mitch adores his 2 favourites more than me.  I’m all about Foo Fighters & Big Wreck.

2 movies I’m anxious to see in theaters this month.

Is my family weird because we’ve had peanut butter & banana sandwiches or peanut butter & jam/jelly sandwiches?

Friday ended with a TON of recorded TV being watched.  I did my exercises in the morning while Kim, who had the day off, went grocery shopping.

Saturday, dad & I had every intension of going to the Saskatchewan Roughrider game against the visiting Edmonton Eskimos.  I was at their house dressed in layers and said we should just stay at my parents’ place & watch the game on the 104” HD projection screen in the basement, so we did!  Roughriders lost so we play in Ottawa for the first round of playoff games.  We went upstairs to have a delicious roast, vegetable & Greek flavoured potatoes.  I don’t eat potatoes if they’re mashed, boiled or baked.  If it’s French Fries, there had better be ketchup nearby.  Kim went to our friends place to watch the UFC/MMA fight on pay-per-view.  I can’t get into watching that stuff.

We got home late last night, around 11:30 pm, & I fell out of my wheelchair.  We had a TON of recycling in front of the closet.  I tried to reach too far & down I went into a very small area between the recycling & the door.  As I always say it’s not the first time I’ve fallen & it probably won’t be the last time.

Today is our usual Sunday routine.  We slept in, had breakfast, & now we’ll get ready for the week, & I’ll watch some more of “Stranger Things season 2” on Netflix.

MUSIC & POP CULTURE TALK

That’s a list of metal bands that is far more miss than hit, for me!

http://loudwire.com/important-metal-bands-21st-century/

Stone Temple Pilots are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big Wreck at the Casino Regina February 17th 2018 to celebrate 20 years since their debut album “In Loving Memory of…”  WOOHOO!

Grunge was the cool thing in the early 90s.  I hated it, just loud noise to me.  I turned 13 in 1993.  Everybody was saying how fantastic “Nirvana” & “Soundgarden” were.  In 1992 I saw the “Barenaked Ladies” as my first concert.  Our entire immediate family went, I was 12 & my brother was 5 years old.

From that point on I was all about acoustic “rock/pop” music “Blues Traveler”, “Sister Hazel”, & “Hootie & the Blowfish”

I have 13 “Barenaked Ladies” albums on my iPod & I still listen to them.  That’s the album I have preordered for mid-November, titled “Fake Nudes”.

That phase didn’t last too long.  In 1996 “I Mother Earth” released the album “Scenery & Fish” that went triple platinum.  That & “Our Lady Peace” album “Naveed” turned me on to rock music.

Everybody at my high school was all about “Our Lady Peace” 2nd album, different strokes for most of the country other than me.  Their 2nd album “Clumsy” for me was the start of a fast & steady decline.

It wasn’t a bad album to me.  I really like their first 4 albums still, & listen to them.  I’ve got all of their 8 studio albums.  I only enjoy the first 4 though.

It was around 1996 I started getting into grunge and heavier rock albums, especially Canadian rock!

I fell asleep to “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”, followed by “Big Wreck” the album “Grace Street”, & finally “Paramore” the album “All We Know is Falling”

I exercised to “Big Wreck” the album “In Loving Memory of…”

500 pushups, 500 crunches, 500 leg lifts, 200 back flexes, 100 triceps pushups

My hobbies prior to cancer were playing baseball from the age of 4 to 17.  Then singing in my high school choir, and singing & playing guitar in a handful of local rock bands.

I threw my arm out at 17 playing on 2 teams.  It still hurt a bit when the next season came around, so I opted out on playing baseball that year & just stopped.

Singing & playing guitar was my next hobby.  I think the last show I played was for a charity that helps those who are handicapped in Saskatchewan called “Kinsmen Telemiracle” just prior to me getting sick & getting help from that charity to purchase the wheelchair van when I could leave the WRC for the evening.

I haven’t felt any source of entitlement or great pride in quite some time.  I do like the fact that I’m able to do more things on my own, & that I’m able to achieve my exercise goals.  I really have nothing to complain about.  I still can’t speak very well.  I can’t sing obviously & practicing guitar is very frustrating.  Before I went into the hospital, I picked up guitar quite easily.  Now, my brain knows what to do, my hands don’t agree, especially my left hand!

I refused to play some songs I didn’t like.  Even my own songs I wrote in the first group I was a part of!  I wrote 3 songs but really didn’t like 2 of them, unfortunately the other guys did.  Found out the hard way I should just write the lyrics.  I guess a cover band is the way to figure things out.

Now I listen to a TON of music, & watch as much Blue Jays baseball as possible.  I follow the NHL as a scoreboard watcher, I only watch a minimal amount of the games though.  GO MONTREAL & EDMONTON!  Those are my teams.

THAT’S ALL FOR THE CANCER TALK FOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the looks of it on Facebook, “Halestorm” is recording their 4th studio album.  I’m guessing a release date by the end of March?

Kristen Bell (Magnum PI) interviewed by Dave (Letterman) Grohl

This is the time of year Facebook really slows down as far as music & other pop culture stuff slows down.  There will be American Thanksgiving, then Christmas.  I have one more album being released this year in a few weeks.  So here I’ll review albums that have meant a LOT to me.

U2 “The Joshua Tree”.  I was a big U2 fan for a long time, I still go back to many U2 albums.  My mother bought me this album for Easter one year, & regretted it the second I wound out my boom box listening to it.

The other BIG U2 album for me was/is “Achtung Baby”

Then the album “Pop” by U2 was released & was met with divided fans.  I loved it, but was struck by a Canadian band in 1992 & another in 1996!
