Friday evening we didn’t do much other tan have Dairy Queen for supper, super healthy! We went to bed around 9 or 9:30 pm, we had to get up early.
Saturday we left our place around 8 am got coffee, picked up Sherry & drove to Kim & Sherry’s aunt’s place in Kinistino, a small town about 3 hours north, 15 minutes away from my in-laws place. I haven’t been in my parent’s – in – laws house yet since 2007. Shirley (my mother- in – law) does catering. She ran a coffee shop/small diner in Birch Hills I was there when I was sick since Kim took me for the day. Shirley was having a bake sale there, Kim shoved my wheelchair in the corner & I fell asleep. It was a day trip for us 3 ½ hours there & 3 ½ hours back to Regina. I’ve been to the lodge also for Shirley’s family reunion.
Good & bad things about being married to the daughter of a chef. Really tasty food but usually not healthy food. As with every Thanksgiving I ate too much. I don’t think we’ll have to cook anything for a week?
We drove home on Sunday after a lunch of leftovers & a birthday cake for Kim & her mom. Kim’s birthday is the 22nd & Mom’s is on Halloween.
We got to Regina at about 4:30 pm. I had some family in town from Alberta. We went to my parents’ place where everyone was for Thanksgiving. It’s my Grandmother’s birthday soon, so I had 1 more piece of cake. Mitch & I took our younger cousin out for a beer. Mom found a bar that was open, & we left. I thought it would be fairly empty on Thanksgiving Sunday, but it was fairly busy. Split 2 pitchers of beer between the 3 of us & called it a night around 10:30 pm or so. We, Canadians of course, have today off. Other than getting ready for the 4 day week & taking our “niece” to a movie, we’ll see what else happens?
Yes, I listened to a ton of music to & from Kinistino. I sat in the back with Brewster, Kim drove with Sherry in the passenger seat. Brewster ate some of Auntie Donna’s dog food for her dog. It didn’t agree with Brewster’s tummy. He just about killed me with puppy farts. The first one I had him covered with my hoodie since it was cold out. We had stopped for gas, I figured the smell was from the gas station then I took my hoodie off of him when it warmed up. THAT WAS AN AWFUL MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Different smell, but still not a good one! He didn’t want to leave my lap, the little goober farted on me 3 more times. Good thing he’s cute!
IF YOU’RE HERE FOR THE UPDATE, THAT’S ALL THAT I HAVE FOR YOU TODAY.
Full disclosure, these reviews are my purchases of this year & some background from the bands.
Paramore sort of came out of nowhere for me. My brother has been a fan of them for years, I do like a TON of their previous 4 albums. I heard the singer, Hayley Williams, was born in 1988. The band formed in Franklin, Tennessee in 2004. She was signed & told the record company that she wanted to bring the rest of the band with her. When you see her doing guest vocals with anyone, she’s always listed as Hayley Williams from Paramore.
The band released their first album “All We Know is Falling” in 2005, & released their 5th album “After Laughter” earlier this year.
Here’s a track from each of their first 4 albums. Their recent release is completely different.
Their 5th & current album “After Laughter” is by far my favourite album in their catalogue. Sounds very heavily influenced by early “Blondie” music from the early 1980’s. Much more of a pop album than anything else!
Yes her voice is that good. She can really pull it off live.
This is the album that really got me & made me a HUGE fan. As for metal music all I’ll be purchasing that I know is coming out is “Trivium” on October 20th. The metal music I listen to are better – known groups in the metal scene, especially Regina metal at The Exchange here in town, where our rock group played quite often. There are very few places in town that allow original music groups or artists to play their music, but I’m really glad The Exchange is one of the few! I could never play or scream like a metal music musician, I’m just a fan of metal.
As much as I used to dislike Metallica, their new album “Hardwired…..to self -destruct” is really good. I do like some of the more “main-stream” metal, but I prefer more of the underground stuff especially the 2 underground juggernauts from Regina “Into Eternity” & “Third Ion”. Now if we could just get the local group “Itchy Stitches” of the ground.
I can’t believe “Puddle of Mudd” are still around or that he hasn’t been in jail this whole time?!?!?
