I fell asleep to “Paramore” the album “Brand New Eyes”

I exercised to “Rush” that album where Geddy Lee sings super HIGH!!!  The album “Counterparts”

Each morning starts with filling Brewster’s dishes.  100 crunches, 100 leg lifts, 40 back flexes, 5 minutes of planking (rest periods not included), & 100 pushups.  Then I lay on the floor, roll over in complete exhaustion, trying to catch my breath & carry on with my day.

Tuesday I was tired & didn’t do all of my exercises.  No planking or back flexes, I just didn’t have it in me.

This week’s total is 500 crunches, 500 leg lifts, 500 pushups, 20 minutes of planking, 160 back flexes.

What inspired me to do all of this exercise?  I was doing some exercise, then I saw Kevin Hart on The Ellen Degeneres Show in 2014 or 2015.  Kevin Hart said he does 1000 crunches & 500 pushups every day.  That’s why I was doing 1500 crunches a day, then my back went wonky.  I was told to do 2 totally different things.  My chiropractor said I should just stop exercising & do the stretching he recommended.  I went to Kim’s massage therapist & she told me to dial my exercises back a bit but continue doing them.  I couldn’t move so I rested for 6 months, applying ice & heat to it.

Since I can’t do 1500 crunches or any squats for fear of wrecking my back, I’ve very slowly increased my pushups & added planking as Kayll recommended.

Before I exercise every day, I really am not looking forward to it.  I end up just staring at my exercise mat, & after 5 minutes, it’s time to get it over with & get to other stuff that needs to be done.  I don’t think I’ll be purchasing a gym membership.  I can do my stuff here, for free!  I save money that way, keep the membership money & stay at home to exercise.  I’d never go to the gym, because of a million excuses.  I might as well exercise here & save the cash.

THAT’S ALL FOR THE CANCER TALK FOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOTHING BUT THIEVES!!!!!!

Gotta say I love this band!  They’re not metal, or anywhere near hard rock.  They just released their 2nd album titled “Broken Machine”.  I got their first self-titled album & binge listened to it.  I imagine you’ll either love this band or won’t touch them with a 10 foot pole.  The singer sings most of the songs in his falsetto or head voice.

There’s the first 3 songs from their recent album!  Here’s a couple from their first album.

I really like this band, but that’s just me.  His voice might throw you off though.  This could be like an issue with “Rush” & Geddy Lee’s voice?

Why does anyone need a $1000 phone?  Does it make phone calls?  That’s all I need, you gotta flip phone for free or $15, I’ll take one of those!  Texting, no thanks.  Does anyone actually TALK to anyone anymore?

It’s science, Trump won’t believe it.  Much like climate change is science but he opted out on that anyways.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders play in Ottawa tonight, & the Toronto Blue Jays start their final 3 games of the season in N.Y.  Sunday, I’ll be on the couch watching the final game of a forgettable Jays season!

The one time face of MLB, José Bautista, will not be back in a Blue Jays uniform next year.  The CEO & general manager did not pick up his option year for $18,000,000 next year.  I don’t think anybody will pick him up for that much.  If he lowered his asking price to $3,000,000 maybe he’d get 1 year contract.
He’s not the José Bautista that will hit 40 home runs, he hasn’t hit 30 home runs this year or last year.  He’ll be 37 in a month, I think it’s time to retire.  Only pitchers stay in baseball that long if they can still pitch well.

I fell asleep to “Big Wreck” the album “Grace Street” followed by “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”

I exercised to “Eve 6” all 4 albums on shuffle

I was the only male that went into the French immersion in Kindergarten at Massey elementary & went to Campbell Collegiate, across the street for French immersion.  All of the female students I considered & still consider them as sisters, like Rachelle, Kendra, Fay, Caitlin, Shannon, Stephanie, Jennifer, Vanessa, & probably more that I’m forgetting.  I didn’t have a sister, only a brother (a very good brother).  We may not talk much, but after all of these years I still feel like their brother, & I just want to protect them in a brotherly way.  They’re doing really good though, I don’t need to protect them, but I’m always here if needed.

Not to dilute the previous paragraph but all of my family, friends, & acquaints’ get that respect from me!  You’ve got it right away & it’s hard to have it revoked!  I can be loyal to a fault.  If you don’t feel as though I’m respectful, that’s on me.  I want those who know me to feel a sense of respect, no matter how you feel about me.

My younger brother (7 years between us) is a good guy.  One day, when we rode our bicycles to & from school.  Some elementary student wanted to fight me.  I was in high school, & wasn’t sure what I had done, I hadn’t said anything to this kid, I was just waiting for Mitch.  I got out of school 10 minutes before Mitch.  This kid, slightly older than Mitch, said he wanted to fight me.  To this day I have not been in a fight that I know of.  Mitch heard this kid, kicked him in the shin & said “DON’T HURT MY CHRIS!”

THAT’S ALL FOR WHAT’S ON MY MIND & CANCER TALK!  HERE COMES THE POPCULTURE STUFF!

How Dave Grohl’s coffee addiction put him in the hospital for 2 weeks, a few years ago.  The doctor asked him his age & was surprised that he was even alive.

SOME/MINIMAL LANGUAGE AT THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The recent release by Foo Fighters was met with a mixed reactions.  I think it gets better with each listen!  Now I’d rank it as 4 out of 9 studio albums.

No more FF talk!

Yes, I bought an album that is pretty much a rap album.  Hear me out?  “Prophets of Rage’s” new/debut album.  I like Rage Against the Machine, this new album has 2 rappers instead of one.  Rage Against the Machine’s guitar player, bassist, & drummer. Then they did “Audioslave” with Chris Cornell, & now “Prophets of Rage”.

The rapping has never bothered me in “Rage Against the Machine” & doesn’t bother me with “Prophets of Rage”!  Honestly, “Audioslave” got old for me fast.  I have all 3 “Audioslave” CDs, but I end up going back to the “Rage Against the Machine” albums, 3 of the 4 I have.

What has been fairly consistent with the 3 band members is they have very strong political beliefs & it’s very apparent in their music.  “Audioslave” was a bit different & steered away from being so focused on politics.

The “Prophets of Rage” album was also released on September 15th same day as the new Foo Fighters album.  Of course I listened & continue to listen to Foo Fighters, but “Prophets of Rage” caught my attention as a very good album also.  I listened to it on Apple Music first to hear it first to see if the rap was manageable for me.  I thought I fit very well with the music!

I’d put a few more songs here but the rest of the album is full of language.  The 2 other songs with clean vocals are not on www.youtube.com.  I like this entire album, I can listen to it without skipping a song.  If you liked “Rage Against the Machine” this album is definitely worth checking out.

Kids react to “Led Zeppelin”.  I agree with the first kid’s reaction to “Immigrant Song” – YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Sorry, I can’t get behind anything Gene Simmons says.

I don’t watch NFL football, I’ve tried and can’t do it.  I do love CFL football though.

I can tell you right now why NFL players are taking a knee during the anthem though.  They’re not dishonoring the flag, military (some were in the military) or country.  Most players are Black & also play on a team with Caucasians.  They’re taking a knee for the fact that Donnie is racist.  The Caucasian players are joining their team mates in solidarity.  I’m sure when Trump isn’t president they will stand for the anthem.

When he says a person is a “son-of-a-bitch” that’s fine, but when an American doesn’t stand for the anthem that’s disrespectful?  If you’re at or watching an NFL game & 7 people leave after the anthem, they’re still supporting Donnie!

Now I hear that the NFL is possibly changing the rules for Donnie.  Players MUST now stand for the anthem.  I’d just stay in the locker room until the game starts now.  I’ve stopped watching anything with Trump.  Now he’s ruined the sports talk show that I watch, what’s next?

Lamb of God released their first album, under the name Lamb of God, “New American Gospel” 17 years ago on Tuesday.  They released one album previous to this under the name “Burn the Priest” it’s terrible to me & many others.  Here’s one song from “New American Gospel”

3 day weekend, can’t complain about that!

Kim went out for tea with a friend.  I slept in until around 10:30 am.  Had breakfast & watched www.youtube.com videos until we left in the afternoon to see “Kingsman: The Golden Circle”, more action & foul mouthed hilarity than the first “Kingsman: The Secret Service” both are really funny!

Saturday was lazy.  Laundry & baking.  Kim was baking cookies for her bake sale for the Palliative Care & at risk youth.  She’ll be boxing for the charities in a couple of months.  I get to watch my wife get hit for $80 -$100 with all ticket sale money going to kids & she’s supposed to fundraise $5000 for palliative care.  Great charity, but nobody better hurt my Kimmy!

Sunday, I was at a home town Saskatchewan Roughrider game against the Calgary Stampeders.  Then I watched what will likely be Jose Bautista’s final game in Toronto as a Toronto Blue Jay?  Saskatchewan Roughriders lost & got the only touchdown of the game.  The Stampeders’ kicker beat us 15 – 9.  Time to watch baseball & eat supper.

We stopped at Tim Horton for a drive thru breakfast & coffee.  Kim got a breakfast sand which.  There was a man with a cardboard sign that said “VERY POOR & VERY HUNGRY”.  Kim asked me if she should give him her sand which I said “Sure”.  I don’t think Kim was in possession of the sand which for more than 30 seconds.  He was very greatful.  Little things make a HUGE difference for others.

IF YOU’RE HERE FOR THE UPDATE, THAT’S ALL THAT I HAVE FOR YOU TODAY.

You’re reading this on a mobile device aren’t you?

I was born in 1980, so I guess I’m a midlennial?  I thought it meant you were born in 2000, 1982, or I also heard 1984?

I guess that’s why I have no cell phone & I use my computer 2-4 times a day, just to check Facebook & email for about 20 minutes a time.  It still feels like too much to me.  Everyone is always looking at their phone, that’s very annoying.  “I’m here what’s on your phone that’s so important right now, urgent or work?  Is it Joe Blow, I don’t know Joe Blow that’s why Joe’s not here.  Maybe put your phone away?”

“….now I know that there’s time & there’s a place where I can choose.  To walk the fine line between self-control & self-abuse……”

How often do you touch your phone?  Americans over 18 average 2 – 4 hours a day checking their phone.

https://hackernoon.com/how-much-time-do-people-spend-on-their-mobile-phones-in-2017-e5f90a0b10a6

OK, let’s talk about the elephant in the room, Foo Fighters’ “Concrete & Gold”.  It was released on September 15th, I’ve had over a week to digest it.  Initial reaction was “NNNNOOOOO!  So underwhelming!”  There was something bringing me back to it & now it’s an album that gets a daily listen.  The 3 singles that were released tell you that you’re getting a wide range of different stuff on this album.  I’m pretty sure this album would not sell Foo Fighters to a new fan or fan base.

There are 3 big name guests on this album each one on a different song.  The song “Make it Right” has Justin Timberlake singing background vocals “La”.  If you didn’t know it was him, you’d think Foo Fighters did it themselves.  The song “Sunday Rain”, written & sang by drummer Taylor Hawkins, features Paul McCartney on drums.  Again you can’t tell it was him.  The final song/title track features Shawn from “BoysIIMen”.  Background vocals of multiple takes to sound like a full choir.  Another guest you wouldn’t know about by listening to the album.

As for the production side of things, the producer they used had never done a “rock” song or album before.  He’s worked with many pop artists like “Sia” & “Adele”.

This album has far too much reverb/echo on it.  You listen to it & start to think, “Why does it sound as though they’re in a long tin hallway?” & “Why are there so many harmonies on this album?”  Just because you can hear a harmony doesn’t mean you need to sing it.

All of that said, that stuff isn’t on every song.  Stand out songs for me are “T-Shirt”, “Run”, “Make it Right”, “La Dee Da”, “Dirty Water”, “Arrows”, “Sunday Rain”, “The Line”.  8/11 songs I’d now rate it among the last of the really good albums by Foo Fighters.  5th or 4th of 9 studio albums.  Right now, I REALLY like this album!

I don’t like to listen to an album many times before I like it, I prefer to really like it on the first listen.  Although I didn’t like it at first, there was something that made me go back to it many times.

Another take on the new Foo Fighters album.

SOME LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ON SECOND THOUGHT, MAYBE I SHOULDN’T DO ALBUM REVIEWS THAT WAS MUCH LONGER THAN I HAD THOUGHT IT WOULD BE!????!!!

Kim told me last night that she had today off, so I didn’t work out today.

I fell asleep to “Queens of the Stone Age” the album “Villains” followed by “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”

This song^^ is just completely sugar coated in reverb on the album.

400 crunches, 400 leg lifts, 160 back flexes, 20 minutes of planking, & 400 pushups.

Some people think I sit around all day laying on the couch watching TV, Movies, or listening to music.  If I’m lucky, that happens about twice a month, after my exercises or on the odd occasion that I don’t sleep well.

Unless I’m sick, there is always exercise going on & something to get to, that I normally wouldn’t have time to get to.  Remember, it’s not just me that has to be happy, it’s Kim’s place too.  Yes, Brewster is happy too.  Rough life for a dog.

On Wednesday, I spent far too much time working on the problem with my iPod.  All of my art work disappeared.  I still have an iPod Classic 160 gigabytes I got while in my rehabilitation in early 2012.

I do what I can.  Some cleaning, started cooking (on the stove top), I always handle the dishes, etc.  For some reason we went with a fancy stove that has buttons instead of dials.  I get very confused with which burner I’m turning on, or if I’m turning on the oven?

I fell asleep to “Nothing but Thieves” the album “Broken Machine”

I exercised to “Foo Fighters” the album “Concrete & Gold”

Emptied the dishwasher to “Dire Straits” the album “Brothers in Arms”

Kim calls me the human iPod.  My father & my brother are much the same.  When I was in the WRC & had exercise therapy, the radio was always on.  Somebody would ask our therapist “Who is this on the radio?”  Our therapist would ask me.  I’d respond with “Oh, that’s so & so.”  Once the message was delivered, I’d wait for 10 seconds & here the person’s reply to me.  “You weren’t even born yet!  How do you know that?”  I’ve got far too much useless trivia in my head!

Kim’s birthday on October 22nd 2002 (the year we started dating).  The Foo Fighters album “One by One” was released.  I bought 2 copies, 1 for me & 1 for Kim.  I also bought her a media stand to hold her CDs & electronics.

Kim’s much more involved with the fact that I’m alive at the moment.  From the instant of Tuesday, February 5th 2008, she was with me 24/7 until I was discharged on Thursday, July 26th 2012.  When she leaves for work in the morning, Brewster & I both miss her A LOT!

It’s 6 years from my leaving WRC & I miss her SO much each day.  Brewster starts to whine at me & the front door at 5:30 pm as if he’s saying “Is she coming back?”  When she gets home, all 11 pounds of Brewster nearly knocks her over!

I’m INCREDIBLY lucky to have her as my wife, she has incredible emotional strength & will power.  Guess what she told my parents on Tuesday, February 5th, 2008?  “He’s not going to die”.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders were playing in Hamilton against the Tiger-Cats Friday evening.  Mitch & Rachel came over to watch the game & have supper as well.  No touchdown shooters here, but possibly at my parents place?  They had some friends over to watch the football game too.  Ugly win, Riders tried to lose the game but ran out of time.  A win is still a win so at least the Riders had that going for them.

The Toronto Blue Jays won too.  A win doesn’t really matter for them at this point.  They’re pretty much auditioning younger players for next year, & they’re playing to stir the pot & affect the playoff teams that aren’t guaranteed a spot yet.

I’m anxious for next season of Blue Jay baseball!  These younger players look good, most of them.  The Blue Jays are actually winning games, not at a high rate, but it seems like they’re winning more often.  It’s at least entertaining to watch a game & know they have a chance of coming out with a win.

Say goodbye to José Bautista.  He’s no longer José Bautista who will hit 40+ home runs.  Last year he was injured & hit 20+ home runs.  This year he hasn’t been injured but his offensive numbers are very much the same if not less.  He has an option on his contract for $18,000,000 next year that both he & the Blue Jays have to agree on.  I don’t think anyone will pay him that much.  He’s about my age aka he is not far from retirement in the MLB.

Saturday, we sat around the house just feeling lazy.  Kim did some laundry & our friends from out of town popped by with coffee & cookies from Tim Horton’s.  Very lazy day for us.

Sunday’s are always get ready for the week, make a pitcher of juice, hard boil eggs, finish up the laundry, grocery shopping & this week get refills on the 5 medications I take, all of them at night & 3 or 4 of them first thing in the morning.

I need to listen to the “Divide” album by Ed Sheeran more.  It kinda “Fell Through the Cracks”

And there’s a song to break your nose to.  When you’re 19, in a mosh pit, & instantly covered in blood.  Lie to the First Aid guy so you can hear the end of the song & stay out of a mosh pit for the rest of your life!

I guess there’s a new Fall Out Boy album up for preorder at the moment with 3 songs on for preorder.  Full release January 19, 2018.  I’ll check it out on the release day.

Ozzy, you’re getting old.  Everybody has to retire at some point.

I’ve listened to it more & each time I listen to it, it seems to sound WAY better than the last time!  It’s good enough for me to throw it into my regular rotation.  I’m a HUGE Foo Fighters fan though, this could be a biased opinion though.  My initial reaction, terrible album.  Now it’s not too shabby, they have made a few better albums though.

http://loudwire.com/foo-fighters-concrete-and-gold-album-review/

This album seems to get better to me with each listen.  Don’t buy the hype by Dave Grohl in this “making off” clip.  This album does not sound huge to me.  I still blame the producer for the poor reaction to this album.  No it’s not like Metallica’s “St. Anger”.

What I listen to depends on my mood for the most part.  Metal music tends to calm me.  Hard rock makes me quite energetic.  If I want to relax Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, or Simon & Garfunkel it is!

Jack Johnson recently released an album, great album to listen to for chilling out!

Nothing but Thieves aren’t for everybody but both of their albums are REALLY good!  My favourite album of the year is a tight race between ‘Paramore’s’ “After Laughter” & ‘Nothing but Thieves’ “Broken Machine”

I’ve listened to it again, very focused on it!  First listen to it last night, I thought I had put my iPod on The Beach Boys, because of all of the harmonies.  The production was my main problem.  One of the songs has SO much reverb on the lead vocals that Dave Grohl sounds as if he’s 50 yards away from the microphone in a cargo container.  The album is full of multiple harmonies, which I like, just not on a rock album.  The songs, some of them, are just lacking something.  That or I put my expectations too high!  Paul McCartney plays drums on a song that drummer Taylor Hawkins wrote & sang lead vocals on called “Sunday Rain” good tune.  Justin Timberlake sings back up on a song called “Make it Right”.  The title song, last song on the album, was described as sounding like a Black Sabbath tune.  It does, but it’s a slow depressing song with one of the guys from Boys II Men singing multiple vocal tracks to sound like a choir in the background.

Not their best album, but not terrible either!
