My mother is in the hospital, or has been all week. She had a knee replacement. Once it’s healed, the surgeon will do the other knee in about 3 or 4 months.

Brewster will not be left alone here. He has really bad anxiety even if we’re here during a rain/thunder storm, he’s high maintenance. Other than that, we would visit mom in the hospital. She was discharged Thursday evening.

Seems that lately everything offends everyone???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY?????????? Some stuff is better to be left alone. How does a photo of a guy sitting on a chair backwards bother people??? I don’t think Social Media was meant for people to whine & complain about the tiniest little thing they find? Have you ever sat in a chair backwards? If so, that offends me since you’re complaining about Justin Trudeau sitting backwards in a chair! Let’s get over every insignificant thing & maybe focus on the important stuff????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sure, this is about music, it can mean nothing to one person & everything to the next person, I get that.

Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy the Star Wars franchise. I don’t own any collectable toys still in the original packaging or anything like that, but maybe I should?

The Toronto Blue Jays might get into the playoffs but I don’t see them making it to the World Series. This is a team that relies too much on home runs. 52% of their runs scored are through home runs. Many of the home runs are solo home runs. It might look impressive when a hitter hits a ball 500 feet, but with no one on base it only counts for 1 run.

Walk off the Earth are releasing a movie??????

Would you ever speak publically or privately as Trump has & continues to do so? If you have a child would you approve of his language? Some people voted for him, so I guess they approve, why? I’ll never understand.

I’m usually not a political person, especially here in Canada! I’m fairly ignorant when it comes to politics. However I do know the difference between right & wrong. I watch a TON of CNN lately. It’s a bad car crash I can’t look away from.

Gotta say it’s been a good/needed break for both of us!

I fell asleep to a bit of “Judah & the Lion” the album “Folk, Hop & Roll”, then these 2 complete albums “Nothing but Thieves” the debut S/T album, “Paramore” the new album “After Laughter”

From yesterday. I exercised to “Lamb of God” the album “Ashes of the Wake”

It takes me a while to fall asleep, music or not.

Pretty mellow start to our staycation, The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon & night, night time immediately after.

We’re bad at staycations. We both want to do something productive & end up mildly doing something. Kim tends to clean, I make a mess & occasionally exercise.

Why do we do staycations? We like hanging out with our dog & we can’t afford to jump on a plane & go anywhere. Brewster always has to be with someone. He has bad anxiety issues when he’s alone or if there is a storm. Once he hears thunder he immediately starts panting & scratching at the door or hides in the main washroom.

He has small valium pills he will only take if we hide it in cheese or deli turkey. If he smells the pill, he won’t eat it. Brewster makes our staycation somewhat normal for us?

We didn’t even venture out to my families cabin last year. I guess we’re cheap & lazy? I’m not very adventurous anyways, poor Kim. I know she’d enjoy a trip. As long as I get out of the house 1 or 2 times a week, I’m good!

Nickelback’s “Feed the Machine” album debuts at number 5 on the charts. I’m not going to trash them, they’ve done very well for themselves! Their lead single wasn’t bad for this album. I’ve heard it 3 or 4 times though & I’m good now.

Saturday we had to get up early, well relatively early. I jumped in the shower around 8:30 am. I had to get some routine blood work done before I ate or drank anything other than my water & pills. It’s really quiet at the blood clinic in the morning on a Saturday. We were in & out in 5 minutes. It caught me as an odd request? I gave my blood work less than a month ago, the cancer clinic has never asked for it after an appointment? Ah well, no big deal, my doctor told me the CT scan looked good.

We’ve called my family doctor about my referral to the back surgeon. They thought it was odd that we hadn’t heard anything yet. That was over a week ago that we called, still haven’t heard anything.

Kim went out in the afternoon to get groceries with her sister, I watched the Blue Jays lose…………………again. As of Saturday after the game they’re 35W-39L. I’m a sucker for punishment Blue Jays & Saskatchewan Roughriders (0W-1L) thus far.

We made a trip to the Sobeys liquor store. Beer glorious beer, I found the very dark Village Wit. Brewed & sold in Calgary. I found my Bacardi Oakheart Rum & Sambuca there a tad cheaper as well. Good find!

We watched “A Dog’s Purpose” good movie, but I’m a sucker for dogs. In the end it’s a happy movie, getting to the end is a little tougher though.

Today I see more Blue Jay baseball, possibly some popcorn & a visit from my bro & that girl he lives with. In all honesty, they’re pretty cool.

I fell asleep to “Soundgarden” the album “Superunknown”

I exercised to “Royal Blood” the new album “How Did We Get So Dark?”

Only 4 days, Kim took the day off, so did I!

160 pushups, 400 leg lifts, 400 crunches, 80 back flexes, 20 minutes of planking, some yoga. Numbers stayed the same this week. 100 leg lifts, 100 crunches, 20 back flexes, 40 pushups, 5 minutes of planking & random amounts of yoga first thing every day!

Why am I still alive after stage 4 brain cancer? Family, friends but mostly Kim. She’s been my rock/island whatever Simon & Garfunkel were singing about?

I would have literally died. She learned how to administer my TPN (food & water IV). She did that, so we could go to the lake, sleep at home, go out to a few concerts, etc. She came to every appointment with me! She’d push my wheelchair until I was strong enough to do it myself, she would give me my pills at night or get a nurse to do so when I was too weak to push my call button. She argued with the hospitals to sleep on a cot beside my bed at each hospital I was in, & would write updates on how I was doing in a Facebook group of 500 people! She was truly “The Nurse Who Loved Me”

Would I change anything? Maybe the cancer part of my life or my attitude towards the end of it all, but nothing else comes to mind.

I asked Kim if she’d like to go see “Wonder Woman” in the theater. She said “Why do we need to go to the theater? I’m right here!” Well played Kim, well played!

Routine annual cancer check up at the cancer center. Saw the doctor that routinely tells me to lose weight. Instead of just calling me fat once this year, she told me 3 times that I should “lose weight”. After the appointment we went out for lunch, I had fish tacos, I think they’re my new favourite food! I hope it’s relatively healthy? It’s not like I eat much unhealthy food or drink heavily, oh well,

What did I miss?” No doubt they’re doing well for themselves. When you listen to Nickelback, AC/DC, or Motorhead, you know what you’re getting, I’m always up for some Motorhead!

It’s only June 23^rd & it’s been a great year in music for me. Big Wreck, The Watchmen, Linkin Park, Ed Sheeran, Ascot Royals, Paramore, Royal Blood, & these 4 albums yet to be released but I have them preordered! I’ll have these by the end of September! Most recent concert was Big Wreck w/ Ascot Royals opening. FANTASTIC SHOW!

Kim & I binge watched the first 5 episodes of “The Ranch” on Netflix Sunday night. I love that show! They swear, they drink, & they’re ranchers in their spare time. We watched the other 5 episodes on Tuesday night, now we wait until next summer to binge watch the 4^th season.

YAY, back to working out on Monday. I was so comfortable in bed, I stayed there until I had to go to the washroom, so until 8:00 am.

When I stopped using a catheter in the WRC, I was terrified that I’d pee in my sleep. Thankfully that wasn’t an issue at all. Me with a condom catheter is a different story. The most unreliable catheter ever, they’d leak or just randomly fall off, they were awful!

My wheelchair is in as of Monday morning to be fixed. Left break doesn’t do anything, I can do FANTASTIC right turns, & both of my arm rests are unattached! I have a rental chair which is taller. I almost can’t touch the ground. The repair is free, but it’s $35 a day for the rental.

Just finished deleting stuff from my iTunes & iPod that I don’t listen to on Sunday. The self-titled “Nothing but Thieves” is the most played album on my iPod at 50 plays!

Alter Bridge’s “The Last Hero” wasn’t far behind at 40 plays & the 2 Diemonds albums are in the upper 30s for the amount of times played. I’m not a fan of GNR, if you are, I highly recommend “Diemonds”!

I just can’t get enough of the new ‘Paramore’ album. Here they are playing “Hard Times” on air in the live lounge on Beats radio 1.

I don’t feel in any way that we’re entitled, as fans, to have a new Tool album as Maynard has previously stated. I do feel as though, when Tool knows, we should know if they’re just going to tour & not record an album or if there is new recorded material on the way. Until I hear whatever they plan to do, I don’t need to go to a show of theirs. I saw them 3 times on the last tour in Edmonton, Saskatoon, & Regina.

I had a cell phone for like a year or 8 months, a flip phone in 2007. I’ll admit that I taught myself guitar mostly on the internet. I learned to read tablature on guitar. I can’t read music despite my early, grade 1 & 2 in elementary school, taking piano lessons. Playing in the school band for 4 years, then joining the choir for 2.5 years. I’ve never had a formal guitar lesson. I also didn’t have the distraction of a cell phone. I don’t think I’ll need one. If I’m at home, I have a land line & if I’m out I’m with someone who has a cell phone.

I’m going to put on my general manager hat for a second & pretend I know what the Toronto Blue Jays should do either at the end of July or in the off season. 1. Trade Troy Tulowitzki for high end prospects & hand the short stop duties to Ryan Goins. 2. Trade Jose Bautista for high end prospects give Dwight Smith Jr. or Dalton Pompei the outfielder spot after spring training. 3. If they really want to, trade Russell Martin & give Luke Maile the starting catcher job while bringing up Ohlman to back him up. I just traded $58,000,000 worth of older, right handed players while really spending only $20,000,000 on players already within the organization. 2 of the replacement players are left handed, & the catcher is younger as are the other 2. Now all you need is to find teams that are willing to trade for older players!

Friday finished with me coaching the Jays on TV & then the Roughriders. Both lost. I’m either a terrible coach or I’m not shouting loud enough?!

Fairly quiet Father’s Day. We celebrated Father’s Day on Saturday at my parents’ house. My brother BBQd steaks for 11 of us. Mitch, Rachel, my parents, grandparents, my aunt & uncle, my aunt’s parents, us, & my aunt’s friend Lori. Lori’s a part of the family & has been for as long as I can remember. Saturday I woke up around 9:00 am & had breakfast, watched the Toronto Blue Jays lose again! Finished emptying & re-loading the dishwasher & then it was off to my parents place.

Honestly a pretty regular life in a wheelchair. I did scrape my left ankle on something here on Saturday. I didn’t even notice until I crossed my legs with my ankle on my right knee. Then I noticed mass amounts of blood on my knee & ankle. Didn’t feel a thing, cleaned it up & carried on, more of a hassle than anything. Rub a little dirt on it & forget about it!

Sundays here are quiet. Baseball, couch, groceries, & preparing for the week ahead!

I rarely listen to the radio. We had some errands to do. Kim runs into where ever we are & I flip through the 3 stations I can tolerate. I usually can’t find anything I like but on Saturday afternoon & again in the evening I heard these 4 songs & turned it up!!!

I fell asleep to “The Watchmen” the album “Live & in Stereo”

I exercised to “Royal Blood” the brand new album “When did we get so dark?”

Yay it’s Friday & I’ve been waiting for it! Sure I’m at home all day, but I exercise, take care of Brewster, have breakfast, watch minimal TV, shower, have lunch, write portions of this blog, practice guitar, & then I’ll hit the couch & listen to some music. Then it’s 3:00 pm or so unless the dishwasher or hand washed dishes need to be tended to, or I need more fruit & veggie juice or I need to clean up something. I’m usually out of bed by 8:30 am at the latest, I tend to go to bed around 11:00 pm. Once I’m up it’s go, go, go, until everything I wanted to accomplish is done.

500 leg lifts, 200 pushups, 5 minutes of planking, yoga, 500 crunches & 100 back flexes this past week.

That’s 100 leg lifts, 40 pushups, 20 back flexes, 25 minutes of planking, 100 crunches & yoga 5 days a week. First thing I do when I leave the bedroom, then breakfast & a shower.

Yes, those are my current goals. I think they’ll stay at that limit for quite a while. You know me though, I’ll likely push to raise some of the numbers sooner.

I used to be a decent swimmer. I never took swimming lessons as a child. My dad grew up playing water polo & swimming in the morning before class at the University. He taught me how to swim. My grandparents’ old condo had a swimming pool. He taught me there & in the summer at the lake/cabin. My grandparents’ owned, built by my great grandfather. I used to swim with no problems at all. Now I wouldn’t get into a pool or lake without a life jacket on.

Only Canadian date is in Toronto in October. I guess technically that makes it a North American tour. Toronto, just over a 2 day drive away from Saskatchewan. Musically, I should move to Toronto or Europe. Many North American tours are 20+ shows in America w/ 3 Canadian dates, Montreal, Toronto, B.C., & sometimes Calgary depending on the popularity of the artist(s). Although Tool, Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne, Garth Brooks, Dixie Chicks, Blue Rodeo, Foo Fighters, In Flames, Trivium, Lamb of God, Megadeth etc. Have at least played Saskatoon and a few of those have made their way to Regina.

TONS of great music for me being released this year. I adore the new Big Wreck album. But the Paramore album “After Laughter” is on heavy rotation on our stereo & my iPod. It’s much more of a pop album than previous albums that were the typical pop/punk/distorted guitars.

Just checked the ol’ iPod for counts of play on it!

I’ve listened to the new Royal Blood album a few times this morning & WOW, no sophomore slump in sight. I’d say it’s even better than their first album & it’s phenomenal also.

I went to a friend’s house last night to see his new place. Pretty sweet place. His condo looks great, could be that I haven’t scratched up, or demolished his walls with my wheelchair….yet!

I fell asleep to “Nothing but Thieves” their self-titled debut album. Their 2^ndalbum “Broken Machine” is out in September!

I exercised to “Alice in Chains” the album “Facelift”. Alice in Chains were labeled as a metal group that gained success with the grunge movement. If the media labeled them as metal, Soundgarden could easily been thrown into that mix.

Sunday ended with us having supper in Corey & Jolene’s back yard. We were guinea pigs for the new smoker, we’re alive, the meat was tasty & safe!

I really had to check my pride at the door at WRC. I’d have a bath once a week, every patient had a schedule for a bath once a week. Complete strangers saw me naked, covered me up once I was on the gurney, take me to the bath, lower me into the bath & wash me or more often Kim would wash me. It was awkward at first for me but I got over that pretty fast.

When I started this blog & acted like Trump or worse I thought I truly deserved something fantastic. I beat a life threatening disease, & everyone was calling me a “Hero”. I bought in to everybody’s hype & forgot how to remain humble. What should I have done instead? Remain humble, not let the hype get to me, & just be thankful to be alive, which is good enough for me! Unfortunately I realized that later than I should have. When I mess something up, I truly am my own worst enemy.

What made me think of entitlement? There was a guy who was doing physiotherapy at the same time as I was with my occupational therapist. He flipped out on the physiotherapist, started swearing at her, pointed to me and yelled “I WANT TO BE DOING WHAT HE’S DOING!” The next day when I had physiotherapy I apologized to my physiotherapist, telling her “Sorry you had to deal with that garbage yesterday”. She replied “It comes with the territory”. I told her “It shouldn’t though”.

I’ll admit that I had a rough day also. I didn’t yell or swear at anyone. I just said “No, not today! I’m tired & I don’t feel like doing anything!” I went for a short walk with my walker, Kim, & my physiotherapist. I apologized the next day for my behavior. My therapist said “That’s OK. Everyone has a rough day once in a while”. However you want to look at it, it’s not right! What I should have said initially is “Sorry, I’m tired & I need a day off from therapy today. Is it OK if I take today off?”

Guess who was sitting next to me in our (mom, dad, & I) Saskatchewan Roughrider season ticket seats? The guy who flipped out that one day in therapy. I don’t like what he did but, forgive & forget I guess, it’s done now.

So it’s Monday in the late morning & I just found out The Watchmen are co-headlining the Queen City Exhibition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOT WOOT

Finally “Despicable Me 3” in theaters June 30^th. I’ve been waiting for the release date to be announced!

I was emptying the dishwasher after my exercise & breakfast. Then realized it has been a while since I’ve listened to this album……………..

So many people like to go on youtube or any type of social media & just drop a HUGE pile of crap on how much they dislike a movie, album, song, etc. I’m guilty of doing that also. OK, could you have done anything even remotely close to that? Maybe, maybe not? Until you can & have you might as well keep quiet. When you do will your feelings be hurt if 2 out of 3 people just demolish your “art” on social media? If you don’t like it, why are you even involved with anything to do with it? Leave it alone & walk away or voice your opinion your own www.youtube.com channel dedicated to finding flaws in everything! Most of us are old enough to make up our own mind!

I record & watch Jimmy Fallon & Conan the day after the late night showing. I’m currently watching Jimmy Fallon. Everybody rush out & get some “Tonight Dough” Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, 100% of the proceeds go to child charity. You can eat ice cream while helping out & say “I had to do it for the kids!” Just like miracle treat day at Dairy Queen!

Oddly enough, I was listening to this “Fleetwood Mac” album on Monday!

I think “Queens of the Stone Age” will be releasing their album soon? Their Facebook page is active lately? It will be their follow up to “…Like Clockwork” & 7^th studio album!

Friday evening ended with me watching the Toronto Blue Jays lose in Seattle. I wouldn’t get my hopes up about the Jays again this year. Since the end of the 2015 season, after getting 5 new players, only 1 is left & he’s getting old & costs $20,000,000 a year. Other than him the Jays have 3 different everyday players. So not much has changed since 2015. The Jays are currently 29W-31L. I can’t find the exact numbers, but they’re around the same at this time in 2015. If the owner & the general manager can’t pull off a jaw dropping acquisition by July 31^st, this team is going nowhere fast. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Kim isn’t a fan of baseball it was a late game on the west coast, she went to bed. Yes, on the weekends in the summer I usually drink alone, & I’m OK with that! The more I drink, the better I coach the TV!

Saturday Kim & I went out for lunch. Lunch menu at Boston Pizza. When the restaurant opens at 11:00 am & you are the second table to be seated by 11:02 am the service is excellent. We picked up some groceries, went through the Second Cup drive threw for coffee. Picked up Brewster from Sherry & James’ house & went home.

In the evening I went to the first exhibition Saskatchewan Roughrider game in the new stadium. I’ve been going to the games since I was old enough to sit on my grandfather’s lap, so probably since 1983? Now the season tickets are in my mother’s name, & after that I don’t know that I’ll have anyone to go with.

Wheelchair seats at the new stadium are THE way to watch a football game. We go right in on the concourse level, 30 rows up with the stadium dug into the ground, washrooms & food/beverages all within wheeling distance. We can see everything very easily on field & all of the fans too! The game finished in a 25-25 tie.

Kim was babysitting for friends of ours who were also at the game. I came home & got the couch again.

Today I plan to catch up on some baseball on the couch!

Get your kids all excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so glad I don’t have to hear this as much as new parents do.

I fell asleep to “Ed Sheeran” the album “Divide”

I exercised to “Metallica” the new album “Hardwired……………….to Self-Destruct”

400 leg lifts, 160 pushups, planking, yoga, 200 crunches & 80 back flexes this past week.

That’s 100 leg lifts, 40 pushups, 20 back flexes, planking, 100 crunches & yoga 5 days a week. First thing I do when I leave the bedroom, then breakfast & a shower.

I just added the crunches on Thursday, 100 crunches a day. The crunches had nothing to do with my back! I know what caused it, I’ve had back issues since high school. My wheelchair seat was over inflated & the squats always hurt my back a bit. So I’m going to continue doing 100 crunches a day. I could also just twist in my seat to borrow a pen & my back would go out? That’s what happened in grade 10?

Kim had Wednesday off, so I took it off too. I got in the shower while she went out to get coffees & cinnamon buns. We sat on the balcony before it got too warm. I can’t get out there in my wheelchair. Kim has to help me, or I can crawl out if needed. Came inside watched a bit of TV. Kim went for a roller blade. She showered, we watched a little more TV, and then we went to see “Wonder Woman” in the comfy recliners at the Southland Mall. I don’t know where it came from but we had a movie pass that we used today!

I spent 1 day a week, for almost exactly a year being in the pool during my physiotherapy. I can’t swim anymore. I was lowered into the pool by what’s called a “Hoyer” lift. It’s basically a crane for people who can’t walk. Once I was in the pool there’s a rail all the way around the pool for me to hold on to. I was able to walk & do some different physio exercises, all while holding on to the rail. The pool is only 5 feet deep & it’s heated. It’s quite a bit like a warm bath. I would walk to each side of the pool holding the railing. I’d float on my back with weights on my feet & I was to kick my feet during that time. One leg is stronger than the other, I’d kick my feet & go in circles. My therapist had me try a different walker in the pool as well, that didn’t work out to well.
