Quiet weekend here. We did see “The Jungle Book” the CGI was cool & well done. I saw the Disney cartoon & the story for me way back when was “Meh……………….OK, I guess”. I’m 36 now, same story the story did nothing for me this time. It’s pretty subjective in the end.
This all comes around to a discussion I had via email with one of the guys that did sound for our band before I was sick. The topic was Garth Brooks playing in Saskatoon later on in June. I turned down the opportunity to see him, Kim & friends of ours are going. Before you jump on me, hear me out. I know of about 3 Garth Brooks songs, & I don’t know all of the lyrics to any of them. I have nothing against him, I’ve heard he puts on a fantastic “show”, I could care less about lights, special effects, pyro, etc. What do you have if you take that or the CGI out of “The Jungle Book”? A story I’m not big on & music I don’t listen to since it’s not my thing. If you want to hear it or see it, that’s cool with me. I’ll stay home save the $70/ticket to Garth Brooks, not spend 2.5 hours in the car, stay home & watch the Toronto Blue Jays lose a game or watch a movie I like.
I’ve been to well over 300 concerts. 2 of them had light shows that impressed me. U2 in Calgary & Tool in Edmonton. Even if they didn’t have light shows I would have enjoyed them. Why? I got the ticket to hear some of my favourite music played live. I didn’t go there for any other reason, nor is that why I go to any show. “What are the special effects going to be like?” “I don’t know or care? That’s not why I bought the ticket”.
I saw U2 on the “Elevation” tour in 2000 or 2001. They came on stage with the arena lights on. No darkness or special effects show started. “Cool, 4 guys just playing music!!!” for all I care the arena lights could have stayed on for the entire show.
So the CGI in “The Jungle Book” is only cool for about 5 minutes if you don’t like the story. Any special effects at a concert, unless you heard about the effects or have seen whoever live before you don’t know what the “show” will be like.
All of that being said, I’m among the minority of people who would have that opinion by far! If that’s your thing, it’s cool with me.

Brian Johnson (singer) leaves AC/DC due to hearing issue
I just saw a photo on Soungarden’s facebook page, the entire caption didn’t fit on the notification. All it said was “Chris & Kim….. I was all “Who took a picture of Kim & I without me knowing? How did Soundgarden get it?” Then I opened it & it was photo of the singer Chris Cornell & the leas guitar player Kim Thayil. Oops.
Paul Rudd & Jimmy Fallon relive their days in “Styx”
Here’s the real video Jimmy played multiple times on his show everyday during the week. It was stuck in his head!
Don’t mess with Beyonce or she’ll write a number 1 album.
It’s been a weekend of me listening to the 3 albums I preordered from iTunes that showed up at 9:30 pm Thursday, well 2 of them. Then I saw that Ben Harper had released an album on April 8th and grabbed that as well. I couldn’t tell you which of the 3 are better, their all very different, & all very good! “Tremonti” – “Dust”, “Rob Zombie” – “The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser”, & “Ben Harper and The Innocent Criminals” – “Call it What it is”
I got the album “Dust” by Tremonti Thursday evening at 9:30 pm. It was number 1 in 5 or 6 European countrys already! It’s quite often I think I need to move to Europe just for the music scene over there?!? I could never live that far away from our families & friends!
