2015 TOP 10 ALBUMS, FOR ME!

First off, it was a really great year in music for me. Even better than 2014. That being said this was a VERY difficult list to compile, which I’m positive will have a TON of honourable mentions. I started to make this list in early-mid November. It has changed many times!!! Here is my top 10 albums of the year. Quite a few of the honourable mentions could have easily made the list!

This is it. I’m done for the year, no more blog posts this year! I’ll catch you on January 4th with a post. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year & whatever else you celebrate. For the non religious folk, enjoy the time off at work!

  1. Pentatonix “Pentatonix”

  1. Halestorm “Into the Wild Life”

  1. Tremonti “Cauterize”

  1. Highly Suspect “Mister Asylum” LANGUAGE!!!!

  1. Trivium “Silence in the Snow”

  1. Finger Eleven “Five Crooked Lines”

  1. Lamb of God “VII: Strum Und Drang” This album has some stuff I have never heard on any Lamb of God album. He actually sings a bit, there is a guest singer, & they also use the talk box effect on a guitar track, where you shape the guitar sound with your mouth into letters using rubber tube into a microphone. I’ve never tried it.

  1. Coheed & Cambria “The Color Before the Sun” LANGUAGE!!!

  1. Ian Fletcher Thornley “Secrets” Not much on www.youtube.com Live version of the title track!

  1. Zac Brown Band “Jekyll + Hyde”! Wait before you lose your mind? Yes, it’s a country music band, but it’s not a country music album. Pop, jazz, orchestral, drinking tunes, etc. This was the most diverse album I heard this year by far.

Honorable Mentions that could have easily made the list, a few released late in the year I didn’t really get a chance to digest….

Foo Fighters “Saint Cecilia EP”

Eagles of Death Metal “Zipper Down”

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds “Chasing Yesterday”

Walk off the Earth “Sing it all Away”

Sevendust “Kill The Flaw”

Third Ion “13/8 bit”

Meg Myers “Sorry”

Iron Maiden “The Book of Souls”

Clutch “Psychic Warfare”

Barenaked Ladies “Silverball”

A. D. D. “Core”

Puscifer “Money Shot”

The Agonist “Eye of Providence”

These were released in 2015 & just didn’t live up to my expectations. Muse is good musically but the lyrics become redundant. My Morning Jacket is awesome live, the albums leave me wanting to hear them live. Fall Out Boy just pales compared to their previous release “Save Rock n’ Roll”. I still listen to these albums, just not as often as I thought I would.

Muse “Drones”

My Morning Jacket “The Waterfall”

Fall Out Boy “American Beauty/American Psycho”

My favourite musical act of the year goes to “Pentatonix” their album, all original other than 1 song of 17 A Capella songs (no instruments) debuted at number 1 on the Billboard charts.
