Today’s workout was brought to you by “Eagles of Death Metal”, all 4 albums on shuffle.

Not much time for me today just did my 420 crunches. Then put away the dishes & made a fruit/vegetable blender drink, that’s my breakfast or once in a while “Rice Krispies” or “Cheerios” with 1% or skim milk.

No more Blue Jays talk until they make a move, likely a trade. This is supposed to be the most active trading off season in many decades. I’d rather wait to see what happens instead of gossiping & speculating about what might happen.

Playing baseball was my first hobby, then I joined choir in grade 10 at high school & music became my preferred hobby since I can’t play baseball? Kim & I did play softball on a paper company’s team for a year or two, that was fun while it lasted! I already had the taste of being in a rock band & that’s what I continued to do. I taught myself guitar & just became more of a tenor singer than a bass/baritone singer, since the melodies in my head were higher than my voice was.

The Agonist shared it………

Top 50 hard rock & metal front men of all-time…

Favourite rock song of 2015? Tough one for me I picked randomly out of the 3 I like.

Rock titan of 2015. I voted for Randy Blythe due to crap he went through in 2012. Guilty of manslaughter until proven innocent?! Does anybody remember what they were doing exactly 2 years ago? I’ve got the documentary on iTunes, but it is no longer there?

This is just ridiculous. He’s gay, it won’t change his voice at all. If you don’t like it, don’t go & don’t sign a messed petition to stop him from doing his job.

Wait………………..Freddie Mercury was gay too! So, you might not like this?

Hahaha! These are terrible! Most of them I’ve never heard of. I have 2 from iTunes, “Black Sabbath” & “Iron Maiden”

Review of the new Justin Bieber album. I’m not sure about it yet?

Is your favourite vocalist on the list? For me it will always be Myles Kennedy & he’s not on the list! If I had to pick from this small sample, it would be Randy Blythe from Lamb of God.

Albums I’m looking forward to in 2016. I only know of 2 releases, Megadeth on January 22nd (already preordered) & of course Tool. Not sure when Into Eternity will be released, I’m assuming next year? “The League of One”, a local band, has an album release on Saturday, December 5th. I just heard the new Tremonti album will be released early next year! More cash to be spent next year!

Christmas tree time now. Saturday evening we went to Corey & Jolene’s place for supper & a Christmas movie with their daughter Hannah. Good times, & great people!

I forgot to take my pills last night. I was in bed by 10:00 pm & woke up around 10:30 am. Should have taken my pills! I was awake for 3 or 4 hours in the middle of the night. I took my pills & all was well. Finally fell asleep!

I was watching Prime Time Sports with Bob McCown, as I usually do 5 days a week for the first hour of 3 hours. On Friday’s & Monday’s the first hour is for people to call in & ask questions or comment on any topic, from any major North American sport. November 26th and 80% of the phone calls were still about the Blue Jays. Bob said something I had never thought of. Everybody is speculating as to whether free agent pitcher David Price will sign with the Jays since he was traded to them at the trade deadline at the end of July. He’ll likely be signing the last contract of his career, looking for something like $33-$35 million a year for 6-7 year. As Bob said in reply, “If David Price had finished the season with, his former team, The Detroit Tigers, nobody would be talking about THE elite pitcher in the game signing with the Jays”. Bob 1 other Jays fans 0. He also added “Why not take that money, cut it in half & sign 2 decent starting pitchers, instead of the current super star”! Brilliant!

After watching the Blue Jays playoff run last season, I learned something. Good pitching & good defense will usually win against a monster offense that averages 5.5 runs/game. If their pitching staff can have an Earned Run Average, E.R.A., of 4.70 or less they’ll likely win more games than they lose.

Songs I like, “Van Halen” I’m not a huge fan of them, but I have nothing against them. In the end, I’m good either way. I could do with a Greatest Hits album.

So the parents read the warning, let kids put them in their hair, take no responsibility, then complain? I’m not a parent but if a parent has read the warning on the package, told the kid, how is that the companies fault? Kids are told not to put gum in their hair, no warning on a pack of gum, but they do it anyway, yet the parents don’t complain to any gum manufacturer?

Future genres of music gaining momentum. After reading that & hearing the examples, the future of music doesn’t look that good to me.

When I wrote lyrics, it took me a while. We would do the music first, expand on someone’s idea, I’d listen to it for a week or two. Then barf out some lyrics & a melody. After that I’d wait at least 2 weeks to figure out a proper title for one song. It was never a title first then lyrics. My brother would get frustrated with me at practice, “CHRIS, WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG TO TITLE THIS SONG?!?!” I didn’t always want to go to the chorus to find what has been repeated multiple times in the song. Pretty much the same with this blog! I’ll write the day it is & figure out a title when I start writing the post. “….The only difference..” is now I don’t have that amount of time to write & title a blog.

Initially I thought I’d miss being in a band the most & I do miss it. However I really liked running a printing press, as it turns out, that’s what I miss the most. I could hold a piece of paper at the end of a day & say “Hey, I made this today!” I’ve always liked the idea of having a tangible product in my hand, even with music.

Digital music is great, I don’t know if that the money is going to the artist though that’s one strike against it. Maybe Apple or other streaming sites along with the labels are getting rich, but what are the musicians getting? Get rid of this streaming music crap & change iTunes so the musicians get a minimum of $6-$7 on an album sale. I blame the inventor of “Napster”.

He woke up one day & thought “Hey, music should be free!” I’m going to wake up one day & think “Hey, our groceries, power, gas, house, etc. should be free!”. Yeah, everyone should be able to hear music, more importantly everyone should have a home & food. Why aren’t necessities free?

If anybody signs David Price it will likely be in the neighborhood of $30,700,000 per year for 7 years or more! I could see him signing for 5 years or more at $35,000,000 a year. Who will spend that much in a lifetime? If I could play baseball for one year at that amount I’d retire after one year & live off of the interest!?

We had 3 crock pots. 2 people left free crock pots in hand! Apparently they’re a hot commodity on the bus in Regina, who knew? I think it was really nice out that day? A couple of people stopped for a Slurpee & I think most of us were in shorts? Right now, looking out the window in our condo/2nd house, it’s snowing horizontally. It’s like watching a car collision. You don’t want to watch but you can’t take your eyes off of it. It’s late Sunday afternoon, CNN has been on pretty much the entire day. (There’s nothing else on, unless you’re a fan of the NFL). With all of this crap going on in the world, I predict I’ll die at the hands of a terrorist. Almost everyone wants world peace, but I think we’re all looking at a possibility of WWIII? Either way I’ll go about my life the same way & I would encourage others to do the same!

Watching the AMAs last night made me feel old & out of touch. I’ve heard 2 Demi Lovato songs now. I’m sure some of the audience at the AMAs were wondering “Who’s Alanis Morrisette & why is she singing with Demi Lovato?” I was the total opposite “What is Demi Lovato famous for & why is she singing with Alanis Morrisette?” I wasn’t a fan of that album when I was 15 & 20 years later has not changed my opinion. In 1995 though Alanis was EVERYWHERE!

I was watching the AMAs for one reason. More “Star Wars” footage & Pentatonix. They got me! I watched the entire show to see what I wanted to see. Well played AMAs, well played!

What I think is pretty cool right now is, call in radio shows in Toronto have 99.9% of the callers still talking about the Blue Jays & how next year they could remain a strong contender for a World Series championship!

Every fan has their own idea of what they’d do. So I’ll throw my hat in that ring too! I would trade knuckle ball pitcher R.A. Dickey, his catcher Josh Thole & whoever is being named the 5th outfielder for a decent starting pitcher. I have nothing against any of these people just that a knuckle ball is extremely unpredictable & difficult to catch. I’d also trade newly acquired short stop Troy Tulowitzki for cash or a pitcher & put the young impressive fielder Ryan Goins at short stop. That should free up 17-18 million dollars. Then I’d have to chose between right fielder Jose Bautista or Edwin Encarnacion who plays DH or first base. Currently they have 3 first basemen. I’d trade Edwin for a number 1 or number 2 starting pitcher, or trade him at deadline if David Price signs. Both Bautista & Encarnacion are free agents at the end of the 2016 & I assume the Blue Jays can’t afford both of them & a few pitchers. I look at it as at the moment they have 3 starting pitchers. 26 year old Marcus Stroman who could be your number 1 or number 2 pitcher, Aaron Sanchez, & Marcus Estrada who has sign on for 2 more years with Toronto. 3B Josh Donaldson will be going to arbitration soon & will likely be offered $12,000,000 a year. If pitcher David Price signs, it will likely be a minimum of 7-9 years at a minimum of $25,000,000 a year if they’re lucky. Baseball is a game of numbers on & off the field. That’s what I’d do, but I’m nothing more than a fan who played & never reached the height of their success. Heck I never made it out of the B league in Regina! If David Price wants to stay, throw as much money at him as possible! Rogers is a multi billion dollar company. I don’t know the budget, & who knows if it will ever be public?

The countdown on Foo Fighters’ website finished last night (Sunday night). Now a letter from Dave Grohl & a 5 song EP for free on 5 different types of music sites! Each link is on their website! What they ask of you is to please donate to a charity for those affected by the attacks in Paris!

Sorry, I wrote this Sunday & a little on Monday. I had a doctors appointment Monday morning just to get some refills for my pills, then spent the day/evening at my parents place. There’s 0, no point in getting angry at anyone for anything unless it directly effects me, my family or friends. Nobody responds well to anger. I knew that over a decade ago, but forgot it somewhere along the way. I could give you a million excuses as to why I was a ranting & raving moron coming out of cancer, but I could never give you a valid reason.

I worked in a call center doing customer service email & phone calls. I was told that if someone calls in to complain, either let them get their frustration out, or even better, hang up & forget about it as soon as it starts. I would always let them scream in my ear then offer to do what I could for them.

When I came out of my rehabilitation program, I was the lunatic screaming at everyone & anyone. That’s never the way to approach things, as my parents taught me growing up! It wont solve anything whether you tell someone or not. All it will do is hurt someone as well as yourself.

One Christmas when I was 20 or 21 I bought my brother a CD at Future Shop. He had opened the store packaging, the shrink wrap. Then realized he had it already. A few days later we went to Future Shop together, I was already working at the call center for Staples. We went right to the customer service desk. I didn’t get angry. We talked to the girl at the desk, after a bit I asked to speak with the manager, since I knew she couldn’t help us out. She assumed we had burnt a copy & returned the CD, we didn’t. I told her manager the same story I had told her & said we’d gladly exchange it for another CD. In the end it all worked out fine. Nobody was angry or shouting, all was well!

I don’t need to get angry at anyone for most things, there’s enough anger & hatred in this world as it is, I don’t need to fan the flames/stir the pot! So for the last time, I’M SORRY, I CAN’T CHANGE THE PAST IF I COULD I WOULD. THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING THE BIGGER PERSON!!!!! ANYONE HAVE A DELOREAN & A FLUX CAPACITOR? I NEED TO TIME TRAVEL.

What have I recently learned? Don’t be afraid of your own death & don’t wish for it either. Everyone around you will worry more than enough about your death. You can spend time worrying about the death of others or helping them out in a rough patch. Whatever happens to YOU will likely be for a reason that probably wont make sense at the time!

My goodness! I think just wrote a page for a novel? Back to our regular scheduled program…….

Living in the 21st century with all of these advancements we’ve made is not so hot. What really gets me is people see someone in trouble & the typical reaction is “I should grab my cell phone & get this all on video”! REALLY!?!?!? A few years ago we were at Tony Romas for chicken wings. When we left, I was holding my left over chicken wings on my lap. There was a lip at the bottom of the sidewalk wheelchair “ramp”. Neither Kim or I noticed it before. I fell face first on to the parking lot asphalt. Somebody, a stranger, rushed over to help me! HE OFFERED TO HELP ME! Wow! He didn’t pull out his phone to video the event, he made a fast decision to help me. I was fine & didn’t really need help. My parents had just arrived to pick us up. Sure I had some bloody spots on my face & my glasses went flying, I was fine. Kim & my parents helped me into my chair & all was fine. I’m still shocked that a stranger offered to help.

It’s crazy, screwed up world we live in with all of this violence over a “Holy war”? I’m not about to judge others on their religious beliefs & not all Muslims are extremists. If your God tells you to kill those who aren’t of the same religion, that’s an odd religion, which I don’t understand. Maybe just try to help the living instead of wearing a suicide bombers vest? Or forget about your cell phone & help someone in danger. As Ellen Degeneres says at the end of every show “Be kind to one another”!

“Jihad-(English pronunciation: /dʒɪˈhɑːd/; Arabic: جهاد jihād [dʒiˈhæːd]) is an Islamic term referring to the religious duty of Muslims to maintain the religion. In Arabic, the word jihād is a noun meaning “to strive, to apply oneself, to struggle, to persevere”.

I did grab the new “Puscifer” album Wednesday. A solid album “Money Shot” released at the end of October. Still not “Tool” though. I guess there was 7 years between “Lateralus” & “10,000 Days”. ’99-2006. “Puscifer” has released 12 albums/EPs since 2006.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/puscifer-talk-fear-for-bandmates-safety-during-paris-attack-20151118 Sorry, I didn’t realize this was full of LANGUAGE when I posted it yesterday? It doesn’t have an effect on me, & I don’t really listen to the lyrics often?

Zoolander 2 trailer

18 years ago Wednesday “Metallica” released “Reload” & a lot of Metallica fans were still waiting for the 2nd coming of “Master of Puppets”!

Yay! Another “Rocky” film…..NOT! Kim’s big into “Rocky” we have them all right beside me, I’m not much of a fan, I’m sure we’ll get this new one.

James Corden with Justin Bieber doing some car pool karaoke!

I’m not surprised by this, he’s a good guy. He’s also the drummer for “Eagles of Death Metal” who were playing when the attacks happened.

His day job! (below)

News from bassist Robert Trujillo on the next Metallica album

I liked playing this version of this song, since it’s a cover of “Thin Lizzy”

Review on local band “Digital Doomzday” in German? Good luck.

Music venue in Paris will re-open

Maynard James Keenan (singer for Tool, A Perfect Circle, & Puscifer. As well as vineyard owner & operator) talks about band mate in Paris.

Can’t get into this Kelly Clarkson album.

Freddie Mercury biopic to start production next summer!!!!!

New Elton John album in February!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 Questions with Ian Fletcher Thornley

Pentatonix added 5 songs to their Christmas album. Available on iTunes. This is one of them.

Songs I like, “Traveling Wilburys” Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan & George Harrison!

Interview with “Clutch” singer Neil Fallon

Great! Maynard’s releasing new material with “Puscifer” yet no new material from “Tool” since 2006. “Tool” is known for taking around 4-6 years to create an album, but this is getting ridonculous! In all fairness to Maynard, he says he doesn’t write lyrics until he has the music.

Don’t get me wrong here I love “Muse” but I think they should focus more on finishing the current tour & heading back into the studio. My expectations were EXTREMELY high for this album.

I don’t know much about “Bruce Springsteen” growing up, my father was a BIG fan of the “Born in the USA album. I like it too. Now “Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band” will be the musical guest on SNL for their Christmas show.

“Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats” different song inside the link!

50 alternative albums you NEED to own on vinyl? I have some of them on CD, some I have no desire to hear, & some I’ve never heard of. A few of them have the potential to be absolute classic albums for me!

“Finger Eleven” article

The more I listen to the new albums from “Finger Eleven”, “Trivium”, & “Lamb of God”, I tend to like them more each time & they started off being REALLY good!

Here’s a festival line up for next summer I assume in the USA. Nothing on the list I’d be heartbroken if I missed it.

I enjoy some Christmas music. Too early for me though. No snow on the ground yet. I think you can find this on one of “Pentatonix” Deluxe Christmas albums. They just added it.

“Eagles of Death Metal” on their show in Paris during the attacks

20 terrible debut albums by great artists

I’d have to add “Muse’s” Showbiz album to that list.

I think I’d buy this album & never listen to it. Justin Bieber seems to have grown up (I don’t blame him for any “mistakes” he’s made, he grew up in the public eye) if I had grown up being that famous my screw ups would be magnified too. One of his songs that I’ve heard seems OK.

Loving the solo album by Ian Fletcher Thornley also!!!

Fair enough. Wait……..who? Never heard of them?

Still 4+ days on Foo Fighters countdown clock. Album announcement? They said they had recorded 5 songs on tour I Austin. It’s gotta be that or Dave’s planning on breaking his other leg again?

Songs I like, “The Tragically Hip” I rarely listen to them. They’re a large piece of being Canadian. I have 4 of their albums on CD.
