A Million Miles Away Blog on facebook.
Give the site a moment to load all of the links. It takes a bit for my computer & it crashes on Kim’s cell.
I don’t own a mobile device since I’m always with someone when I’m away from home. Anyone I’m out with has a cell or tablet/iPad, I don’t need one.
Two things you should know. I needed a break from my computer & on Wednesday morning we drove to Calgary for this fantastic concert.
Now my dad has seen Foo Fighters 3 times since 2008, & I’ve seen them 4 times since 2000. 2000 in Saskatoon at a 1 day outdoor festival, 2003 at a hall in Edmonton, 2011 & 2015 in Calgary. I’ll just say the concert was AWESOME! Royal Blood opened, played from 7-8, played a bit of a riff from Black Sabbath & most of their album. Foo Fighters played from 8:30-11:00, with no encore, a Rolling Stones song & “Under Pressure” by Queen & David Bowie, both covers were pretty much spot on. They also played an album track that a casual fan might not have recognized? Also 3 songs from the new album “Sonic Highways”
I can’t remember the Black Sabbath riff Royal Blood played?
Royal Blood was really good too though! Bass player/singer & a drummer! REALLY GOOD!
The 4 of us, Mom, Dad, Kim & I stayed with my aunt & uncle, Kent & Leanne. We also visited my aunt & uncle in Aidrie, Joan & Terrance with my cousins Ryan & Kyla. Quick trip, drove all day Wednesday & Sunday, concert was Thursday evening. I think I gained 20lbs with visiting 2 brewerys, eating bread, cheese & scones, along with my aunt Joan’s perogys. We did sneak in a visit with Rydell & Candice which was really good. Candice is pregnant & was due on the 11th. She’s still pregnant though, waiting anxiously to get that baby out. She is & always has been PHAT! No “F” though, I can’t say DOPE since she has never smoked marijuana.
Good but fast trip to Calgary! Big thanks to Kent & Leanne for letting us stay with them & keeping us well fed & drunk………………..uh………………….hydrated?
Fun trip, only problem was Kim & I would wake up & pretty much not see each other until supper time. She would go out with my aunt & mother, while I went out with my uncle & father. My dad is the oldest of 3 children, Uncle Kent is the middle child & my Aunt Joan in Airdrie is the youngest of 3.
I listened to my iPod all the way to Calgary & back. Kim wanted to listen to an audiobook, I would’ve fallen asleep likely.
John Oliver’s take on televangelists. Who doesn’t want a $65 million jet? Just don’t ask for the money from the followers. SOME LANGUAGE! MOSTLY CENSORED!!!!
Fall Out Boy play “Uma Thurman” acoustic
Soundgarden was on the cover of Spin magazine 5 years ago today!
I’ve heard the name “The Dead Weather”, I’ve never heard their music until now

I’m REALLY enjoying the new Finger Eleven album! It exceeded my expectations!
As well as the new Lamb of God album
I hate pre 1985 Rush, but this is pretty cool. An audience member sings “Tom Sawyer” on stage with Foo Fighters.
