Sorry, it got long read it if you like. Baseball rant, Saskatchewan Roughrider game, music at the bottom & cancer talk. I’d like you to read it, but I understand if you don’t want to.
Sorry, I have to get this off of my chest. FINALLY someone says something on TV about Blue Jays knuckle ball pitcher R.A. Dickey. Yes his knuckle ball looks great, yes he eats up innings before you call the bullpen in the 7th, 8th or 9th inning if at all. How many wins has he contributed to? What’s his win-lose record? 3W-10L and he’s 40 years old. I don’t know him personally/ In interviews he comes off as a good guy. He’s not retiring next year, & I’m not a fan of a starting pitcher who throws a knuckle ball at 67MPH 90% of the time with a fastball that tops out at 81MPH. I’d hate to be the GM at the moment. He has an all-star team that is not winning. As of Friday, July 17th 2015 in the afternoon with a game to be played tonight the Blue Jays’ record is 45W-46L. All I keep hearing is “The mood in the club house is great” if this is considered great, their wasting my time. So right there are two people you can trade that someone will pick up in exchange for a better starting pitcher. If they get someone who can give 6/9 innings consistently & under the age of 30, I’m good. A 40 year old knuckle ball pitcher & his personal catcher who adds little to no offense are expendable. They have a Ton of untouchables. Edwin E. Liam Hendricks, Kevin Pillar, Jose Bautista, Jose Reyes I can tolerate with him being a phenomenal lead off hitter, Josh Donaldson, Marcus Stroman, Roberto Osuna, maybe Aaron Sanchez, Devon Travis & Russel Martin & Dioner Navarro. Other than them & any young prospects in the minor leagues I haven’t seen, go buck wild & either win this year or more than likely, build for next year as usual. This is already a disappointing year with 71 games left to be played!
I was at the Saskatchewan Roughrider football game & yes it was raining. 8:00 pm kickoff the second game of a double header on TSN. Everybody & their dog left at half time since it was a boring football game & the rain didn’t stop until part way through the 3rd quarter. I think there were roughly 10,000 people there for the entire game including my dad & I. We’re the last people to leave since I have to go slowly & hold on to his shoulders to walk to the stairs behind us, then a shoulder & a rail to go down 10 or 12 steps.
I was fine, I had a rain poncho that felt as though I was in a bubble, that’s exactly what I need. I’ve been going to Rider home games since my mother’s parents could hold me in their lap as a baby or toddler my dad tells me. Our seats are inherited from my grandparents who had them in the late 1960s I believe. Really good seats! There’s nothing like being in the stadium!
There are multiple don’t drive drunk adds on the big screens at every game. None of us have a beer at the game. I think over the span of multiple decades at the games, I’ve had 2? Now I drink nothing, water, soda, or alcohol. The washrooms are too “…far away from…” us. At the game I turned to my dad & told him “I’ll drive tonight if you want to have a beer or 4. I got this what could go wrong?” No license, depth perception, can’t see a think out of my left eye & I haven’t driven a vehicle since I drove to work on Tuesday, February 5th, 2008. What could go wrong?
Somebody in front of us bought a Coors Light. I thought to myself “Really it’s raining? Look up & open your mouth it’ll save you $5.00 free water”!
Review of Big Wreck’ 2014 album “Ghosts”.
I don’t know for sure but it does remind me of “Dire Straits”. He has stated he wants to record his “Brother in Arms” an album by Dire Straits that at the time, early ’80s, 50% of the house holds in England had that album. This album & yes I have it, my father loves Dire Straits, I grew up listening to it. Yes, that’s Sting singing back up on this song.

P.S. I almost forgot. I went into the hospital at 265lbs at the moment I weigh 220lbs. For me it’s just a number on a scale, I’m still on an 8 T-Shirt cycle of shirts that fit my belly. My gut is quite unflattering now the photo of me on facebook playing guitar on stage with my brother, that’s me at 265 & I don’t look that heavy to most people.
