REALLY? You had to audition!? Bahahahahahaha! In all honesty they do have really good voices. Oddly enough the cover band I was in during 2000-2003 covered this song. I’d strum the chords & sing the song as written for one verse & chorus, then everybody would join in & we’d play it as a punk song.

I think “Five Crooked Lines”, the new album by Finger Eleven, will be closer to the sound of their first 3 albums. Even they admit they went through an experimental bit with the last 2 albums.

I have it on pre-order with a 3rd song “Gods of Speed” which sounds even more like the first 2 albums!

I also pre-ordered ‘Highly Suspect’ & got 5 songs with my pre-order.

Same sex marriage I have no problem with at all. The problem I have is with the USA’s legal system. Why did it take so long for a powerful, influential, progressive country to pass this human right? “Oh, gays can’t get married! How about another gun?” At least they got something right, but now comes the backlash against same sex marriage & same sex couples. Maybe keep quiet & you may learn something? If you’re not a family, how is it affecting you personally?

Friday evening dad took me to The Exchange. I love that place, not too big & not too small! I think capacity is 250-300? My brother’s group, Room 333, played 2nd in a 4 band show. My eye’s still get tired, sore & watery at the end of the day. Dad & I stuck around for ‘Digital Dooms Days” set, the 3rd band with Justin Bender on guitar.

I felt like a politician in a good way! The people there that I know are great! Lot’s of people came over to shake my hand & chat for a bit. Good times with great people! I feel quite comfortable there.
Metal & hard rock fans get a bad reputation because of the music we listen too. That’s a sweeping stereotype & mostly a false stereotype. There’s a bad egg in every group, nothing will change that.

Saturday evening the Saskatchewan Roughriders had a home game against Winnipeg. We don’t usually see Winnipeg until the ‘Labour Day’ classic, it just didn’t feel right. It was incredibly hot on the Eastern seats. I was dripping sweat until the 4th quarter started. Breeze picked up a bit & the sun went away. Roughriders lost the game, 26-30, & our first string QB went down in the 2nd quarter of the game & he’s not coming back this year. That make 4 quarterbacks injured in the first week of the CFL season. First & second string in Montreal, first string in Edmonton I believe, & Darian Durant, first string QB for the Roughriders.

Kim’s parents were here this weekend, they should be home now? They brought down 3 long shelves from Kim’s cousin & her dad was helping her install them. They got here Friday afternoon, it was a very quick visit with them, especially with me going out Friday & Saturday night. I didn’t get to see them much.

Streaming music has too many red flags for me. Sure you can listen to streaming music on Apple. You are literally putting money into a radio or jukebox. Once you’ve heard the song you have to keep paying for it, or else it’s gone. All of these streaming sites get me a little worried because as a music fan I want to own my music. I don’t want to wake up on the 1st of every month & say “Well time to pay for that radio station subscription again”. If a band goes on tour to promote their new album they need to go to the little spots, Saskatchewan, Manitoba or Alberta. Anywhere else I’m not going. I’ll go 2.5, 8, 9 or 6 hours away by car to see a concert. If it’s not within that area, I’m not going. I would hope they figure out how to pay artists for their craft with people downloading it from iTunes? You’ve always had a way to purchase or own your music. 8 tracks, cassettes, vinyl, CD & digital formats. If streaming becomes the only way to get music, I’m out.

I really don’t see the point in getting angry & talking about whatever behind someones back, that won’t solve anything. Sure “flaws” are easy to find in others & being blunt is usually not the best way to go about things. Anyone could easily find “flaws” with me, I’m certainly not perfect & never will be. So why bother being angry at all? I don’t want to be that person ever again. I wasn’t like that before, so I can’t explain why I was like that in the previous link to this blog?

There is a difference between being blunt or being rude. I just put those 2 together, & it’s not needed. Likely the 2 least favored qualities put together!

This was part of Canada’s response to the “grunge” music in Seattle in the early ’90s.

Unfortunately I don’t see the murders in Charleston changing anything. Mass shootings in a high school, outside of a mall, elementary school, movie theater & now a church. So where are you safe & not constantly looking over your shoulder? LANGUAGE IN JON OLIVER LINK!!!!

Hard rock, rock, metal, pop & some country. As for rap, it’s not really my thing unless you include “Beastie Boys”, “Rage Against the Machine” & “Linkin Park”. My favourite albums are some of the most diverse albums I’ve heard…..

All of this ^^ within the first 6 songs on a “country” music album that is 16 songs long.

All of this ^^ on 1 Foo Fighters album. The music I like & listen to is a personal choice as I’d expect everyone’s music to be different than what I listen to. Some times I want to hear a band with a great singer, other times I want to hear death metal vocals, or something pop like for radio.

Fair enough, with Pete Rose out of baseball (most hits in a career, over 4000), now if I hear of a steroid user getting in to the baseball Hall of Fame, that’s a very mixed, message! The single season home run record is still 61. Not 66, 70 or 77. This means no Sosa, McGuire, Bonds, Clemens, Alex Rodriguez, etc. There won’t be many inductions for players in the next few years, I hope? Is it just me or does it seem as though musicians are pushing their albums out really fast? Last week she announced the new album & today there’s a single & an expected release date for the fall? That seems really quick to me. I would think someone would release a single, announce the release date for the album once it’s recorded? I don’t know how things like that work, but it seems as though many artists like to work “under pressure”.

Don’t know why? This has been stuck in my head lately? I must need an “Odds” fix. This album was released in ’93, I’ve listened to it around 4 times since 2008 & it still holds up for me.

Personally, along with many other baseball fans this is not right. Pete Rose bet on his team to win one game he was managing not playing in & he bet on them to win. Suspension, fine I agree, lifetime ban from baseball not right. Baseball is currently looking around the corner of inducting steroid users into the ‘Hall of Fame’. If one steroid user get’s in, most of the fans will react in a negative fashion.

I quite enjoy this new ‘Walk off the Earth’ album.

I have this documentary. He was in a jail in Europe somewhere & was basically guilty until proven innocent. Even after $500,000 bail they kept him in prison because a fan died after their show 3 years ago. Video evidence proved he didn’t come anywhere near the kid during the show.

This one reason I despise cell phones. NOBODY will help him with his rain poncho but the people behind him have time to take a “selfie”? Put the PHONE down for 4 seconds, I promise you won’t die! That thing in your pocket? It’s not just for texting or taking videos/pictures it’s actually a PHONE! We’ve made it how many centuries without an “iPHONE” or any type of mobile device. I’m pretty sure we’d survive without the world in your pocket? I’m 35 I don’t want or need a mobile device, EVERYBODY else has one.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY OUT THERE!

To my father, grandfather & my father-in-law, thank you! So very much!

When you’re first born & can’t really do anything, who becomes your first hero?…….no it’s Batman, Superman, Spiderman, etc. It’s your parents! I have a ton of respect for any parent. There is no way I could do that job.

Here I am 35 & not all grown up yet. My parents are raising me all over again, I guess the first time wasn’t hard enough?

I remember being very young in my parents apartment, my brother wasn’t even born yet. Dad & I watched ‘Episode VI Return of the Jedi’ together & guess who grew up to be a Star Wars fan? Me. No I’m not the fan that lines up outside the theater for 2 weeks to be at the first showing of the movie & I don’t dress up as my favourite character & go to a comic convention. ‘Star Wars’ is a story about a father & son though, George Lucas just chose to make it a science fiction story. My dad got me into ‘Star Wars’ & ‘The Lord of the Rings’. I tried reading my dad’s books of ‘Lord of the Rings’, couldn’t do it. “Ah there’s going to be a movie someday” good thing there was!

Before I had cancer, my brother & I took dad to the casino to see a 1 hour 1 man play of the entire first 3 Star Wars movies, Episode IV-VI. We got him tickets for fathers day!

Dad got me into “The Beatles”, some of “The Rolling Stones”, “Queen”, & David Bowie. Thanks dad.

Kim & I bought our first house & got possession on November 25th, 2005. We borrowed my mother’s cell phone since we were going to Prince Albert the day we heard yay or nay on our offer. Our realtor called to give us the good news while we were on the highway. This is what I popped on from my iPod……

I probably wouldn’t have a clue who David Bowie is or Jimmy Buffett without my dad.

Now my dad is a fan of Foo Fighters because of me, that’s pretty cool!

This is the show my parents went to while I was in the hospital, the tour for this album! I had just entered the hospital a month & a half before this concert in Saskatoon in 2008.
