Let’s get something straight. Whoever is calling area code 306 to run a virus scan on a computer from area code 519 just stop. It’s been well documented on the news that it’s a scam. Someone accidentally called the CTV news to “fix” a computer, you tell me my IP address in person. Come to my door and figure out what my IP address is and “fix” whatever needs to be “fixed”. Until then, please stop calling we all know. Do not call me at anytime, especially at 8:30 am like yesterday! Deal?

Get over it Pete, it’s one farewell tour & then you’re done/retired forever

I gotta say the new Taylor Swift album “1989” is really good! It’s a pop album. I wouldn’t consider any of it remotely similar to country music. I’ve listened to it 2 or 3 times already. I never thought I’d ever enjoy a Taylor Swift album? I’m hooked though.

So many great albums this year & likely next year with Tool, Muse & Queens of the Stone Age both in the studio. DFA1979, Royal Blood, Ed Sheeran, Big Wreck, Foo Fighters, Chromeo, etc. I’m still listening to 2013’s (…Like Clockwork) by Queens of the Stone Age!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ejeEBlDESc They covered “Billie Jean” this year, just can’t find it on youtube?

This album by Obadiah Parker on iTunes, “Billie Jean” by Micheal Jackson & “Black Hole Sun” by Soundgarden!

https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/red-dragon/id917967693 This album on iTunes!

I made the “mistake” in 2002 calling “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica from the “Black” album released in ’91 old. At Beerfest, 500 people & 1 guy comes up to me looking for a fight. Because that’s not old Metallica? 11 years doesn’t make it old? Did you want them to keep releasing stuff like “Kill ’em All” from 1983? Live’s “Lightning Crashes” was released in ’94 and on Much More Retro in 2000. 6 years but that’s not old?! I don’t know the reasoning behind the kids anger, & I don’t really need to. That incident was 12 years ago & I’ll likely never see that person again. Really it was worth trying to start a fight over?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsJ4O-nSveg Love this album! Still holds up, for me.

Three different versions of the same song, yes I like each version.

I think there’s still room for the Kinks in the musical landscape?

More photos of Muse out & about!

Here you go Metallica fans!

Halestorm reissues cover EPs on vinyl. No thank you, I have them from iTunes.

Creed broke up & Mark Tremonti practiced……………..A LOT! He got REALLY good at guitar!

Why “Royal Blood” wont win a deserving award.

I don’t care if it’s a simple song, if it is in some weird time signature, difficult to play, 8 billion notes in 4 minutes, the genre, a high note, a solo from whatever instrument, etc. None of that will necessarily improve the song. If I find it catchy, that’s all I need. I still like this song. I don’t listen to radio, so this isn’t over played for me.

OK peeps, I’ll be offline most of the weekend starting today. I’ll check my email & facebook once a day probably. Halloween, multiple birthdays, family in town, etc. Busy weekend!

Both releasing albums in the same year! AWESOME! Big Wreck’s “Ghosts” was released in June & Foo Fighters “Sonic Highways” will be released November 10th! There’s 2 of my top 5 or 10 albums for 2014. By the time FF release their album anybody watching the HBO series will have heard 4 of the 8 songs on the album.

Gene Simmons claims rock is dead, and he’s always right……………NOT! Only took him 23 years to realize marriage isn’t a bad thing. He’s a great father, an OK husband & probably a good friend. He doesn’t have ESP though. KISS has inspired many musicians, including Dave Grohl. I’ve never really been a KISS fan, but the movie “Detroit Rock City” isn’t bad.

I love this group!!

If you ask me, strings can dramatically improve most songs! They should be used as often as solos & high notes. Only if the song calls for it.

Masterpiece review of “Welcome to my Nightmare” by the, oh so fantastic, ALICE COOPER!

Bass tracks done for 20 possible songs on the 2nd Tremonti solo album!

Soundgarden announce rarity albums

I’d love to be a fly on the wall for this show in London! Eddie Vedder, Geddy Lee & others not named for The Who’s cancer charity show!

You don’t say? Jimmy Page.

Dave Grohl article/interview with Anderson Cooper.

Kim calls me the “Human iPod” for a good reason. When I was in the Wascana Rehabilitation Center, my exercise therapist would play the radio. Someone would ask her who is the artist or group on the radio. My therapist would ask me if I knew & 99.999999% of the time I’d be correct. Once I heard more of the song. I have a pile of useless music trivia in my noggin’. I just looked at my iTunes and it tells me there’s 1313 albums on there. Some of that’s Kim’s, but most of it’s mine. I don’t buy a song here and a song there. I buy full album if I like 70%-80% of the album. I don’t listen or need radio. All of my music info now comes from facebook. First it was Much Music, then Much More Music, FM Radio, now facebook and youtube.

Didn’t think I’d write anything today?

Soundgarden’s new song

Soundgarden to release rarity collection.

Slayer set sights on 40 year anniversary

CBS has ordered 4 full seasons of the following shows and “Scorpion” is one of them!!!!

The “1989” album by Taylor Swift is a pop album, not a country album. It’s pretty catchy! Kim pre-ordered it on iTunes so I poped it on my iPod last night, very catchy to me.

Vinyl vs. MP3s, I keep thinking I need a record player since vinyl seems to be coming back in a big way. Then I thought about it, spoke with an old friend and realized why I don’t need or want one.

Sound quality is a personal choice. Digital or analog, if you like music skipping, being easily scratched, or constantly turning the record over, there’s a few cons for vinyl. Lot’s of people don’t like the sound of MP3s, that’s fine. It’s compressed, like the music on FM/AM radio.

I think I’ll keep my digital music. You can’t fit a record player in your pocket like you can with an MP3 player. Digital music doesn’t have the popping and scratching like vinyl.

iTunes is cheap & convenient. Too cheap though! Let the musician(s) set the price with a cap at $20 an album. Some will say “$0.00, we’ve made our multi-millions of dollars”, newer bands will say “$20 we’re new and need the cash”. I pro digital music. CDs, Tapes, & Vinyl take up a lot of physical space, Digital music takes up hard drive space, lot’s of people now have a Terra Bite Hard drive, 1000gb. I have a pile of (600) CDs in the closet behind me, taking up physical space & 109gb of music on my hard drive. I don’t want to purchase vinyl because of the space issue. I do think the musicians on iTunes deserve the right to set the price of their art.

Do you ever go to a restaurant for a meal? Do you dine & dash? Probably not? Do you tip? You realize you’re paying for the chef’s ART so why should all musical ART be free?

I hope Apple & U2 come up with a good idea as to make people pay for music. Music has become very disposable now that you can get an album or song for free on a torrent site or $12 on iTunes. Apple/U2 said the new way of purchasing music would be roughly 18 months from the day they released the free U2 album.

Sure I could buy vinyl, hook up my record player to my computer and then put it on my iPod, then what do I do with the vinyl I bought? I have no place to store it? Do I throw it out?

Saturday-I got up & got in the shower at 8 am. Kim came out while I was having breakfast, cleaning & doing laundry. She tried to strip the bed, but guess who was still sleeping in bed until 9:20 & wouldn’t move other than rolling over for a belly rub?

Interview with Bono & The Edge of U2, performance after. Really GREAT interview, if you like or don’t like U2!

Classic Rock’s tracks of the week.

Rush will be touring for their 40 year anniversary.

FANTASTIC! Let’s tell the world where to hide with a weapon in the parliament building in Ottawa!? It’s out there, I might as well put it on here!

Monday, didn’t touch my computron yesterday. Now it’s 1:15pm on Monday, I just had “breakfast” & Kim has a head cold. She’s still in bed with Brewster.

Pug sings Batman theme! Adam West theme!

The link speaks for itself. What coconut oil can be used for.

Muse news! AWESOME!

In Flames on the new album “Siren Charms”

Weird but cool. Megadeth music helped Harry Potter/Daniel Radcliffe prepare for the roll.

Bass tracking is done for the 2nd Tremonti solo album!

Didn’t listen to Queen in the hospital as much as I like them. Foo Fighters, Big Wreck and something else?

Is Tool working in the studio or trying to get a rise out of their fans? I hope they’re working on an album for 2015?

2nd song from the upcoming album “Sonic Highways” by Foo Fighters

1st song from the album & the 1st single

Tribute from Foo Fighters to 70 year old fan

This new Taylor Swift album might be pretty good. Kim bought it on iTunes. The singles seem very catchy.

I have no plans to blog this week. I’m just tired from Kim’s girls night on Saturday. I was in our computer room watching a couple of DVDs, drinking Jagermeister & Sprite alone as the only male, other than Brewster, in the house. I’m 34 yet midnight on Saturday felt rather late. No hangover, just still tired.

I’ll still be checking facebook & email. Just need a break from blogging.

This is why I hate watching the news. I want to know what’s going on, but watching the news, you never hear anything good. It’s NEGATIVE & DEEPRESSING that’s also why I don’t vote. Which politician should I have voted for? Who saw this coming? I’ve been expecting it since 9/11 praying it wouldn’t happen, but it did.

I still miss the brilliance of Robin Williams. WARNING!!!

I believe this apply’s to any emergency worker too.

Pentatonix video

Tool is sharing youtube links to older songs. Does this mean anything? Probably not. Waiting since 2006.

More bad news. What happened between 1980 & 2014? Everybody started killing each other for no reason. I could ride my bike to school & nobody had to worry about me or my brother when he was old enough? He did get 1 bomb threat at the high school?

I could easily understand the “Some Kind of Monster” documentary from 2004 being difficult for any member of the group to watch. It’s them looking in a mirror, realizing & changing what they see.

Foo Fighters release 2nd song. 2nd HBO show tonight!

The writing of “Daughter” by Pearl Jam.

Of course conspiracy theory’s have started! People died & these people will argue it until their death! This type of person doesn’t really seem to care about the victims, just any conspiracy.

I had brain cancer for 4.5 years & I’ve survived cancer and there is terrible music and plenty conspiracy theories about what ever. I can’t change others belief’s so, I’ll sit back & see what happens.

From now on please? If you know me, please use email if possible. If you don’t know me or if your email is screwed up, please use facebook if possible? I would like all private messages from those who know me in my email. If you’re a musician I’ve never heard of, please hype yourself on your own. If I see/hear it on another blog and like it, I’ll talk about it. If you’re on a social media site, please use that to hype yourself or group? Any facebook messages from those I know personally, will go unheard or read as is the case. If I know of an email issue, that’s fine, facebook it is.

Internet & our home phone is messed/is not working. I’m hooped for however long it takes? OK, this is weird. Internet, phone and lights are not working. But my computer is fine, but won’t connect to the internet? Isn’t this the way most Criminal Minds episodes start? Is some maniac going to bust through my door with a gun or knife?

Kim & I went out after my Cat-Scan yesterday to LOOK at prices. 2 impulse buyers looking at vehicles on sale is more likely to end up as a sale? Especially if it’s something shiny and cheap bu the cash register. Kim bought a 2014 Santa Fe yesterday, my name isn’t on the bill of sale, but OUR money was used. I kept quiet. I said to Kim “If you can make it work & we don’t have to eat KD or no-name Ichiban for the next 60 years, it’s up to you”. So we left so p’ we can’t afford the oor to spell entire word, at least that’s how I feel. I’m Scottish so you’d think I’m cheap & don’t handle money well? That’s so not the case! Kim, make it rain……………..with $$$$$$$$$. If it has to be pennies So be it. We did get a fairly good deal.

Why do we need a Santa Fe, an SUV? My wheelchair or walker has to fit in the back. I can stand and walk, I just have to hold onto something. I’m back in my regular season ticket seats for the XFL/Saskatchewan Roughriders & have been since the beginning of the 2013. I hope Mom. Dad & I can get wheelchair seats at roughly the 45 yard line in the new stadium in 2017.

And internet, phone power all back, that was really weird? ½ hour with dim lights and a few non-working lights. No internet, yet the computer would turn on for me to start this blog. Brewster was freaking out and wanted to sit on my lap since the smoke alarm chirped since it didn’t have power? Hallway lights were fine though. I was ready to lay on the couch listening to my iPod, likely with the little furry guy.

I really like Pentatonix! This seems a bit to early though!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIM!!!!! She’s incredible!

REALLY, this will be out for purchase on record store day in the USA? I think Western Society needs to fix our problems and help out others instead of releasing a funny song?

Here’s a charity I can get behind. Why is this facebook update coming 4 days after the event?

I don’t know? Van Halen could do this or just retire?

I’m missing something on this Tea Party album? The first song you can tell is HEAVILY influenced by Led and his Zeppelin, and the rest sounds like the Tea Party. Both are good to hear, but what am I missing?

I just found out about “In Search of Sun”. I like it and I bought the album on iTunes last week.

Get yourself some Obadiah Parker!

Both are $4.95 EPs with 5 songs “Billie Jean”, “Black Hole Sun”, “Trouble” by Coldplay, “Hey ya”, etc. All totally different arrangements. I listened to it to hear the lyrics to make sure they were the legendary songs I thought they were. Mellow acoustic versions! REALLY FANTASTIC!

On this day in 2002, Foo Fighters “One by One” was released. I bought 2 copies of it. One for me and one for Kim. This was her first birthday with me as her boyfriend. Of course I got her something else, I’m not that dumb, just a little bit! Unfortunately this was the first album that wasn’t to great for me.

Much Music & MTV refused to play the video below.

I’m really diggin’ this new Smashing Pumpkins song. I’ve never been a hardcore fan of them, just a casual fan.

(f-bombs galore) 21 year old Scott Ian of Anthrax at a bar with Lemmy of Motorhead.

U2 on Jools Holland.

Rock It Out Blog news

2 of my 3 appointments down, 1 to go before the year’s done. Blood test done last week, CT-Scan done today on Kim’s birthday. Appointment with the cancer agency later on. Kim decided she needed a new Santa Fe. “Oh, we’ll just check out prices”. We checked out prices since there was a hot deal on any 2014 Hyundai. We traded in our 2009 Santa Fe, bought a 2014, since they were on sale now that the 2015 Hyundais have come in & now I need a drink. I feel sick & excited all at once, being an adult is not all it’s cracked up to be! We owe my parents money, The Brick some, Car payments, & mortgage payments. Our money tree is all but dead now. Anybody else want to squeeze blood from a stone? If so, try someone else, we’re out. Goodnight all!

Are you kidding me! I love the “Yield” album by Pearl Jam and they played the entire album live? AWESOME!

Alter Bridge review

What is my music? A little bit of everything with the exception of rap? Lot’s of heavy stuff though. If you count Beastie Boys & Linkin Park as rap, I like them, not really typical rap though.

Foo Fighters & Big wreck both release an album in the same year? AWESOME! I’m still listening to (…like clockwork) from 2013 by Queens of the Stone Age!

Video from the FREE U2 album everybody whined about. “The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)”

Another Muse photo!!!!!

I was never a fan of Guns n’ Roses. I bought the first Velvet Revolver album, only the one single was the song I really enjoyed and it got old fairly quick. The latest Slash album is pretty good though but I think I bought it more for Myles Kennedy’s voice. I’m not so sure I’d ever want to be in VR as a singer other than becoming rich & famous. They can do their thing very well, I just found it to be fairly disposable.

Lot’s of so-called “fans” of these groups complain that these 2 albums don’t sound like previous albums. Do you want them to make the same album 10 times? I don’t. I quite enjoy both of these songs and everything else on the In Flames album. When Foo Fighters album is released I’ll decide if I like it. I’m not about to judge an entire album based on 1 song, which I like.

Written Thursday evening

“First song and single from Foo Fighters album! Am I excited? YES, I think I just peed a little………in my pants, at least I’m warm…………..for now.

HBO mini series by Dave Grohl starts this evening, also available on iTunes for preorder of $20”.

Now Friday…

Thursday night’s Foo Fighters performance on David Letterman

I don’t like every Foo Fighter song on every album, but that’s why I’m such a fan. Their B-Sides are mostly better than what makes it on the album, even some of their cover songs. A few original B-Sides

This one is a cover of Pink Floyd, but completely different than the original.

Yet, one of my two least favourite FF song made it on to the 3rd album?

I could listen to that entire album if “Breakout” wasn’t on it. When I saw them in Calgary in 2011, I luckily had to pee during that song, which also made it on to their “Greatest Hits” album!
