Compression. You’ve heard it on AM or FM radio. It’s where they take the dynamics out of the song, making the loud quieter and the soft parts louder. I find that it ruins a song. It’s only a commercial for the album with no compression. I hate & love it. Really bad for music, but I’d like to hear it in TV and movies. Kim & I watch a TON of TV & movies. I’m constantly messing with the volume. I turn it up quite loud when there’s dialogue & way down if there’s an action sequence or people screaming at each other on the TV. Every radio station does it, so why not the sound people for movies? I’ve got a visual of what’s happening, yet I’m constantly adjusting the volume? Am I the only one doing this? Sporting events are fine, one consistent volume for whatever sport you’re watching. Shouldn’t the sound engineers on a movie or TV show at least try it & see what type of feedback they get from the consumer?
