“The Gaslight Anthem” live show in N.Y. review

Wide Mouth Mason, blues rock from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Well known in Canada. Rob, Diane, Kim and I saw them a long time ago. I’ve always liked their music, but that was the last time Kim or I saw them live. Why? I’m not paying to see 2 of 3 people share a joint on stage??!!! Do it before you hit the stage or better yet afterwards. I own 5 of their 6 CDs. The 6th one isn’t nearly as good IMO since I previewed it on iTunes. The original bass player left and was replaced with Gordie Johnson, singer/guitar and part time producer in “Big Sugar”, “Grady” and producer of the first “The Trews” album “House of Ill Fame”. They released their first S/T, popular album in ’97, but I’m quite certain there was 1 before that with quite a few of the same songs on it. Here’s 2 songs, in order of CD release, from the 5 CDs I own…

Sorry, I can’t find a second song on youtube from the album “Shot Down Satellites”

I got up super early again 3am. Kim is out for a hot air balloon ride with Sherry and their dad, Elmer. It was his birthday gift from them. Weather has to be perfect and they all have to be there at 6:00am! That’s why I got up so early, had to pee and figured I might as well get up. Right now there’s a box of Timbits from Tim Hortons and still 10 cinnamon buns taunting me in the kitchen, so far I’ve resisted eating them. I’ve been drinking veggie smoothies, water in the bottom of the Vitamix blender and fruit smoothies with skim milk or orange juice in the bottom of the blender. It doesn’t get old for me….yet!

Why did this turn into a music blog? Because “music is a BIG @#$%#$& deal”-Dave Grohl
