Barenaked Ladies, more acoustic recordings of previous songs.

I’d have to admit his vinyl album had quite a few bells and whistles that had never been done before! A hologram would appear as it was playing, you could put the needle on the center label and it would play a song, etc. That’s all great, but it doesn’t make the music better for my tastes.

When you take away the lights, dancers, pyro, etc. Is the music itself good? What if it was 1 or 2 people on stage playing for you in raggedy jeans and old T-Shirts with no fancy special effects? No make up, no masks, no light show, no special effects at all. Is it still good? If it’s not, why are you there?

Really? Barenaked Ladies @ the Bessborough in Saskatoon, July 30th ? I’m not going for that boring 2.5 hour drive as much as I like them.

Pearl Jam, you know, one of the successful grunge bands, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Hole and a few others still around. You know them and either like them or hate them. I like them or else I wouldn’t be writing about them. “Lightning Bolt”is a bit of a let down but still a solid album. “No Code” & “Riot Act” were a big let down for me. The video for the song “Jeremy” is considered offensive, why? Too real? It came out long before the tragedy at Columbine.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MS91knuzoOA This is what we got on TV, apparently the watered down version that doesn’t show Jeremy killing himself in front of the class. Released in ’91, Columbine in ’99.

These are the songs I enjoy most by Pearl Jam (a few of them).

I’ve seen them 2 times and I’m good. They’re FANTASTIC live. You’d almost think they were preforming to a recording other than the songs are longer and occasionally include improvisation at the end.

“Complaining won’t solve anything. If you want something done your way, just do it yourself!”

“Don’t try to please everyone, it CAN’T happen”

“Learn something from your mistakes and don’t do them again”

“I feel good about the good things and bad about the bad things”-David Eric Grohl
