Probably known for the album “Brothers in Arms”. I think I heard a LONG time ago it was 50% of house holds in England or maybe the UK had this album, on cassette or vinyl? CDs weren’t a big think or not even made when this album was released in 1985. I was 5 years old! Why do I have a few albums? I have 4 CDs that I borrowed from my father including a Greatest Hits album and I bought a different Greatest Hits album in 2005 or 2006? I assume people my age have seen this video when MTV or Much Music played videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNxGr2CKLfw yes that’s Sting from The Police on backing vocals. Why do I have these albums? I grew up listening to my parents music, on road trips to Hamiota, Manitoba or my Grandparents cabin 20minutes north of Moose Jaw! While my mother was gagging and telling me to hold a plastic bag or an empty ice cream pale for Mitch who would get car sick. This is the first song off of “Brothers in Arms”
This is a fun song I have on both Greatest Hits albums
I have the “Brothers in Arms”, “Love over Gold”, “Communique” albums and 2 Greatest Hits albums. I really like the “Brothers in Arms” album, I’d highly recommend checking it out on www.youtube.com or previewing it on iTunes!
I’ve started picking up my guitar lately. I taught myself before on the internet. Simple 3 note power chords, that were all over the radio in 2001 when I got my first guitar. I learned “Blackbird” by The Beatles as my first somewhat difficult song. If I couldn’t sing and play it at the same time, I just left it alone, this was the first finger picked song I could do both of…
Then I went on to Radiohead, their 2nd album and learned these 2 songs in order…
What song do I still love to hear, it’s by Nirvana and it’s not “Smells like Teen Spirit”…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teetvAUcG_E We played this in my first band in University with Rob Wirtz, Dave Kliman, Rydell and myself. It’s from the “Nevermind” album that was released almost exactly a year after Dave Grohl joined Nirvana! As the 5th drummer for the group.
I watched Friday nights Blue Jays spring training game in Montreal. Left me with a few questions. Why did utility player Maicer Izturiz make the team again while not really contributing to the 1 run win for the Blue Jays? Who got a double in the bottom of the 9th inning and replaced starting All-Star short stop Jose Reyes and scored the winning run? It wasn’t Izturiz, it was fan favourite Munenori Kawasaki, who played over half of the season last year, because of injuries, at short stop and a handful of games at 2nd base. He had big-time clutch hits last year and again Friday night! He’s 30+ years old, still a minor league player always will be, excellent defender, fast on the base path, and a clutch hitter. He’s also a leader who does things right. Even Friday he was in the outfield catching fly balls before the SPRING TRAINING game that means nothing. He’s being shipped off to the minor league, yet Izturiz has a guaranteed spot as a back up infielder?
I haven’t looked at the numbers, which mean something in baseball, it would be a no brainer to me! Who keeps things loose in the dugout and is always ready and willing to do whatever is needed for the team? KAWASAKI! So far this is the only mistake the Blue Jays have made this year. They dumped Arencibia, which was a smart move, he was a wreck last year and they’ve made 2nd baseman Ryan Goins a great all round player. There’s no reason for a terrible season unless 9/10 players are injured again!
After the game Friday I had a coffee since we were going to The Exchange to see my brother’s group play, (late nights make me not want to play live as much fun as it was, we got home at 1:15am? I’m old!) “Room 333” the room I was in for most of 2008 in the Pasqua Hospital sleeping 23 hours a day waking up only for pain killers or Physiotherapy. 6 days after my 28th birthday. I had a cell phone for a year, then BAM cancer, coincidence? Probably not. It’s just my sense of humour!
The Blue Jays had their final spring training game today. Regular season begins Monday in Tampa Bay! Baseball turns my crank. I played it for long enough 4 years old-17 years old. I’m a great couch manager/coach! Ask Kim! “Are you talking to me, the TV or Brewster?”. “Are you about to slide into 3rd base?” I reply. She hates baseball like most people do.
