I say this with a tear in my eye. The Canadian band I hated in the ’90s is back and I don’t like ripping on bands, but this one got me down. Many, many others will love this news, not me though. MOIST. YAY……………………….for everyone else and BOO for me! Both from their first album. They debuted in ’94, and everyone around me was acting like it was the 2nd coming of The Beatles. I thought “What? Why? They aren’t good to me?” I’d place them with Metallica, Guns n’ Roses and the ’80s hair metal scene in L.A. Here’s a few tracks I heard on the radio from their second album. A bit better, but still not for me!

They went on to make other albums after that according to iTunes. There weren’t anymore songs on the radio or videos on Much Music. I saw them once in Saskatoon since they were touring with I Mother Earth. Great segue!

I was reading on I Mother Earth’s website that Christian Tanna and Jagori Tanna (drummer and guitar player) are having a lot of fun coming up with new song ideas. I hope that means there’s a possibility of a new album? I’m not counting my chickens yet though! I really like I.M.E. albums. The first alternative rock band I got into, Mitch as well. 4 albums and one single when they got back together! A song from each album and the recent single! My favourite song by them! Yes, that’s slap guitar not bass! Jag did that on pretty much every album. This album was titled “The Quicksilver Meat Dream” hence my poor choice of name on the board, Meat Dream or has Corey called me “Sausage Fantasy”. Here’s the single

Big Wreck is in the mixing process for their 2nd album since they reunited in 2012 after a 10 year split and 2 Big Wreck albums. They’re also making a video. So here’s a song from the 3 studio albums thus far…..

Chris Messer would ask me “Hey what’s that open riff that you play, how does that go? What’s that song called?”

They also have a 7 song live EP on iTunes with the 7th song as a cover…..

Who doesn’t enjoy The Cars?..

The Watchmen are touring not recording though. Every song from them is good and they’re not anywhere near as heavy, just FANTASTIC! 1 of the 6 good things to come out of Winnipeg! The Watchmen, The Franklin family, My Grandparents and Father, The Guess Who, My Physiotherapist and her husband (another David) and Bohemian Beer! The Gagnon family moved to Winnipeg, they didn’t originate in Winnipeg!

The Odds have gotten back together too. 4 albums that started in the ’91. “Neopolitan” album “Bedbugs” album “Good Weird Feeling” “Nest”

The Tea Party are back as well. A 3 piece band with East Indian influences when I saw them way back when! Our first band covered this as well as U2’s “With or Without you” same bass line though, never back to back.

That’s more than enough links! To check out if you like? Baseball season begins on Monday for me Toronto Blue Jays vs. Tampa Bay Rays for 4 games in Tampa Bay. This blog might slow down next week? We’ll see.

  1. I remember when we went to see Moist in concert in Saskatoon, you were not enthusiastic about them at all…BUT I Mother Earth was one of the 3 bands there…that’s definitely what convinced you to go!

  2. Yes, I only went to see I Mother Earth. I’ve never been a fan of Moist then I saw them, that show drove the final nail into the coffin for me as far as Moist and Edwin go! Edwin can sing, but he never wrote the lyrics, then he and David Usher both acted like morons during the show!
