Fans of rock music have gone to metal music, FACT! Other rock fans are settling for lesser known and a lot of acoustic “rock” bands. I listen to these newer “rock” groups and ask why is this even on my radar? We still have Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam (who seem to be slowing down quite a bit), KISS if that’s your thing, The Rolling Stones, if you like that, and Tom Petty.
Then the groups that broke up in the late ’90s or early 2000s. Big Wreck, Soundgarden, The Tea Party, I Mother Earth (who don’t come to Saskatchewan), Nickelback (if you like them good for you!) and the rest of the bands that sound like them.
I listen to metal. I like it, but I’m very picky! Most of these current “rock” groups wouldn’t know rock music if it bit them in the @$$!
Now we are waiting for a new Tool album still since 2006? Really that long to make and record 10-12 songs? Why? Foo Fighters took a hiatus since they finished touring for their release in 2011, and are expected to release a new album late this year or early next year. Big Wreck got back together in 2012 and released an album and from what I can tell on face book they’re working on a 2nd album to be released in the near future.
At this point Tool could collectively fart into a microphone and still Tool fans would rush out and buy it! When I listened to the cover album by A Perfect Circle, I knew they were done. APC has released a greatest hits with one new song on it that I don’t need/want.
So as the facebook page is called, “Where did all of the Rock Bands Go?”. I don’t know but somebody should save rock soon if not now! I’m not about to stop listening to metal, but would somebody please save us?
I’m not a fan of ’80s hair metal other than “Mr. Big” and “Megadeth”. Metallica, Guns n’ Roses, and Motley Crue…………..No thank you.
